CH.1 - Baking
Joonie and Chuwan (a mini-series)If people were to ask little Joohyun about what does Seungwan mean to her, she would probably give you three pages of drawing block filled with little sketches of how her life with ‘Chuwan’ would be in the next 10 years. Little Joohyun prides herself to be Seungwan’s protector and would do whatever it takes to prevent Seungwan from any harm possible. And if someone were to take Seungwan away? You bet you’re going to get a little kick on your ankle and a loud cry of No! coming from Joohyun
Because Chuwan is Joonie’s and it has always been like that ever since they met
While if you ask little Seungwan what does Joohyun mean to her, she would tell you that Joohyun is her 2nd favourite thing in the world and in her life. First? Would be her family. And 3rd place would be that little bunny necklace given by Joohyun on her birthday, that she treasures with all her heart and soul. She carries the little necklace around her neck like it’s a piece of gold and flaunts it to her friends. Safe to say that Joohyun’s heart beams with pride because of it, and Seungwan never took it off unless when she’s showering of playing.
Because Joonie is Chuwan’s and it has always been like that ever since they met.
The inseparable fluffballs, as what their parents call it
Both of them would always make sure that they do things together when they can, and share things together when one has something new. From toys, to clothes, to bag packs, to lollipops; you name it. It all about doing things together
So now here they are, at Seungwan’s house because apparently, they promised something about learning to bake together with Mama Shon’s help. Seungwan had been bringing her homemade cookies to school and been sharing some of it with Joohyun during break time and Joohyun loved it so much. And so Joohyun begged Seungwan to teach her how to bake with the intention that so she could bake more of Seungwan’s favourite cookies one day.
It’s all about give and take
When Joohyun arrived, she saw Seungwan sitting on the floor watching Paw Patrol on the big tv, Mama Shon was nowhere to be seen
“Chuwan?”
Seungwan turns around and her face immediately lights up once she saw her favourite friend standing in her living room. She quickly stood up and ran to Joohyun and have her a bear hug and pulled her into the kitchen
“Where is Chuwan’s mama?” Joohyun asked as they sat on the kiddie stool
“Chuwan’s mama fell asleep while waiting for Joonie”
Seungwan hums, Joohyun frowns beside her
“If Chuwan’s mama is sleeping, do we have time to bake the cakey?”
“Hmm, we can try!” Seungwan answered enthusiastically
“But Joonie don’t know how to do it…”
Joohyun pouted, she really wanted to try her best so she can be the best baker for her Chuwan one day. When Seungwan noticed her friend’s distress, she gasped. And immediately took Joohyun’s hand in both of her little palms
“Chuwan will help!! Chuwan always helped mama bake so Chuwan knows some things!”
Joohyun frowns again
“But…but the oven will be hot. Chuwan will get hurt!” Joohyun spoke
“We will wake mama up once we mix everything together!”
Chuwan is a really smart and cheeky kid. But that’s also the kind of behaviour that often gets her into trouble.
Joohyun on the other hand, just wanted to bake with Seungwan. And since Seungwan is the experienced one between the both of them, she decided to trust Seungwan’s skills. Because if there was one thing Joohyun’s mom told her, is that always trust people when no one believes in them.
“Mmm, otay. Joonie will learn how to bake with Chuwan”
So, what are the few things you need to do before you start baking? And what essentials do you need in order to actually make baking possible?
Seungwan can think of a few things. There are a lot that needed to be done, but luckily, she has Joohyun as her little helper
“Otay!” Seungwan started “First, measuring cup!”
Joohyun took the measuring cup and placed it on the countertop “Check!”
“Flour!”
Joohyun pulls out a corn starch, because kids can’t really tell the difference. And not like Seungwan could tell it either anyway. As long as it’s white and powdery,
It’s a goddamn flour
Joohyun placed the corn starch next to the measuring up
“Check!”
“Sugar!”
“Check!”
“Water!”
“Check!”
