I've never had that
Logan and Su Ryeon Stories
Su Ryeon walks quietly to the closed door, determined to see what’s behind it. A sliver of light escapes from below. She twists the handle slowly but the door opens with a loud crack. She holds her breath as she fights a cry. In the shadows, there’s a hospital bed with a person on it. Blood is everywhere, coloring the picture with the essence of death. On top of the bed, it’s Logan. Su Ryeon screams in fear and -
-her eyes shoot open. Instead of Logan’s body covered in blood, she feels his body covering hers, enveloping her in a warm embrace as he lays sleeping beside her. It was a dream, her past and her fears juxtaposed to form a scary nighttime cocktail.
As she calms her breath, she feels Logan’s fingers tightening around her body and his eyes opening to meet hers.
“Su Ryeon ssi, bad dream?” His voice is raspy but his concern carries through.
“Yes. Very bad.”
“It’s alright darling, you’re safe and I’m here”, he presses a kiss to her forehead while his arm tighten around her, pressing her closer to his warmth. She welcomes it and buries her head in the space where his neck meets his shoulder. His smell reassures her she’s home.
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“Maybe in the morning, I want to sleep now”.
“As you wish”. With that, he caresses her hair with slow movements, like she’s precious and kisses the top of her head. Su Ryeon makes a sound of contentment as she gets comfortable into his arms. She curls her legs and buries her toes in the space below his knees, and sighs happily. She brings a hand to lay on top of Logan’s heart, feeling it beating steady, a needed reminder that he’s alive and safe. Logan’s a survivor, always coming back to her. They face difficult situations and end up together in the end. She must have known that he’d always be there for her. She shouldn’t have fought her love for so long. Revenge is honorable, but not at the cost of her happiness. With Logan, she learned she could have both. She deserves love amidst her war. Logan gave it to her freely. Her heart swells with love for the man next to her and in the darkness of the night, the stillness almost freezing the time, she’s thankful he’s alive and by her side.
Su Ryeon opens her eyes to look at him, her neck craning upwards. His hand caresses her back, clad in a thin rose nightgown made of satin. He’s doing it without thinking, the touching. As if he can’t not touch her, his palms echoing his heart’s desire. She feels cherished.
“Logan” she whispers.
“Mmmm” he answers without opening his eyes.
“I never had that”.
He blinks to shed the sleep away and looks at her in question.
“Someone to hug me after a bad dream. I always slept alone and when I woke up crying, I buried my head in my pillow. I never slept with anyone, much less been held” she admits as past memories come to mind.
“But you were married twice”, he notes without malice.
“We slept in separate beds. I always thought it’d be more comfortable, each having their own space. But it can’t compare”. She exhales, “you’re the first man I’m sleeping together with”.
“And I intend to be the last, if you’ll have me”.
She touches his still scarred face lovingly.
“I do”.
“I do too” he vows. “I’ll never leave your side”. This time Su Ryeon’s eyes glister with happy tears as she fuses her lips to his, kissing him sweetly. The soft hours of the morning gift them with serenity. They fall asleep in each other’s arms and dream of their new beginning.
