Two months later Back in Los Angeles:   Between my mother, Leona, and Jason’s mom Marilyn the wedding was planned, booked and set within two weeks. Money talks and we were able to book the absolute best by just throwing it at them. My mom got the Dirty Dozen Brass band, and they are booked up to a year in advance! “Mom how?” Is all I could ask. “I have my ways but if I told you my secrets, I’d have to kill you.” I chortled with laughter she is so extra I swear! We were married on a beautiful Sunday afternoon with perfect weather. It had been raining cats and dogs the whole week before but the day of the ceremony the skies cleared, and a beautiful rainbow showed on the horizon letting me know that God was there with us. I felt so much peace and calm at that moment I knew he ordained our union. Chris served as best man with Elaine as my maid of honor. My cousin Benny surprised me three days before at mom’s. I burst out crying the minute I saw him because I thought his leave request was denied. Mom kept the secret under lock and key which itself is surprising seeing as she can’t hold a secret to save her life. Marilyn gave me a beautiful pair of vintage white peep toe heels with royal blue soles. A pair of sapphire and pearl earring with the matching necklace and bracelet was a gift from Momma Leona. As for the something new Jason gave me a diamond encrusted platinum Cartier watch. I was so afraid to wear for fear of losing it. We finally agreed that I’d wear it for formal occasions and holidays. After much debate I ended wearing a beautiful vintage style lace “WHITE” wedding dress momma had specially made. It was strapless with a sweetheart necklace I mean it's gorgeous! It was floor length and guaranteed to make Jason drop to his knees my mother informed me winking. I figured since I wasn’t a and pregnant to boot that I’d wear a cream wedding dress, but Lainey pointed out that I was a when we married in Vegas and that technically I should and would wear a white dress. All the ladies agreed and that was it I had no more say in the matter. The result was stunning creation and wearing it I didn’t look pregnant. My bump was just starting to show, and I was so worried I’d look like I swallowed a beach ball on my wedding day. As it turns out I worried for nothing after all because everything turned out perfect. Elaine did her magic on my hair and makeup. I looked in the mirror speechless. Momma gasped and cried, Leona clutched her pearls literally and Marilyn who told me to call her mom just grinned so huge I saw where Jason got his from. “You’re beautiful dear, my son is very lucky.” She said squeezing my hands. “Our grandchild will be beautiful huh Sylvia?” She asks looking me over smiling. “The most beautiful child ever born mark my words!” Mom said excitedly and I smiled tearing up. “Nuh huh you better not cry and ruin my masterpiece girl!” “Ok, ok I won’t.” I said fanning my face dramatically. “You guys need to stop being mushy you already know I cry at Hallmark commercials add my hormones to the mix and I will be a crying mess before we even get me up the aisle!” “It’s a good thing I used waterproof everything then, isn’t it?” Elaine replied. “Yes, that was wisdom!” Jason was so achingly handsome in his all-black tux my hands actually shook with anticipation of him touching me when I came to the end of the aisle. “You ok cuz?” Benny whispered as we walked down the aisle. “Yeah, I am just nervous is all.” “You got a good one, I like him a lot so there is no need to be nervous.” He gave me a reassuring smile squeezing my hands. “You’re right I got a really good one.” I smiled as he handed me over to Jason. He shook his hand and gave me a huge hug and kiss. When Jason took my hand in his much larger one, I felt sparks shoot up and down my arm like I'd been shocked!   Our reception was held on the Steamboat Natchez, and everything was absolutely stunning. Roses, camelias, and hibiscus flowers were everywhere. We were bathed in candlelight and the view of the Mississippi River was a sight to behold. I had been trying to figure out what to give Jason for a wedding gift since we got married. After all the drama that happened after we got married, I wasn’t so sure I would have the opportunity to do it. When I think back to that time, I can’t believe the thought crossed my mind to divorce him! What in world was I thinking? Oh yeah, I wasn’t in my right mind.   I talked it over with momma and I decided that I would sing for him. I called a musician friend of mine that lived in New Orleans, and he was all in. Now if I could get my nerves in order maybe we could actually pull this off without my having a heart attack! I looked at Lainey and nodded it was time to present my gift. She stood tapping her champagne glass to get everyone’s attention. “Our beautiful bride has a gift she’d like to present to her husband.” She smiles
