Someone Real [Series]

Description

Prologue

“And you said yes to this agreement?!” Lainey asked incredulously.

Staring at your best friend, you nodded easily. “I’m a big girl. I can handle this.”

“Y/N, you’ve made some stupid decisions over the years, but this one sure tops the lot.”

“Don’t be so pessimistic. It’s a win-win all around.”

Lainey studied your carefree expression, your bright smile only making her brows knit together with concern.

You couldn’t understand her worry entirely. Sure, you weren’t the type to step into an arrangement like this with just anyone.

Then again, Brian Kang wasn’t just anyone.

“You’ve harboured the biggest crush on Brian for years,” Lainey announced, getting up from her seat and approaching you worriedly. Reaching for one of your hands, she gripped it tightly. “This doesn’t bode well. Don’t do this.”

“I’m don’t believe there will be a happily ever after for us, Nini. I accepted Brian’s offer with clarity.”

“Really? Because to me, it sounds like he’s going to use you like he always does.”

You nodded. “He will, and I’ll use him too. That’s the whole point to the agreement.”

“I can’t help but worry you think this will end like the movies do. Benefits like these…”

“I’m starting to regret you finding this,” you confessed, taking the handwritten contract off the coffee table that had started the interrogation twenty minutes ago. Standing up, you looked at Lainey will a confident smile. “We’re not kids anymore, Nini. We’re adults with needs. And if I can be that person for Brian right now, I’ll take it.”

Heading towards your bedroom, you shut the door behind you and sat down at your desk in the corner of your room. It still felt surreal, even if you held a physical piece of proof that Brian had approached you asking you to be his fake date for the next three months. The fact that Brian had come to you still stood out in your head, a smile gracing your lips as you replayed the way he ran an awkward hand through his hair.

“Hey, Y/N, could you do me a favour?”

You were more than ready to spend the next few months being Brian’s fake date.
