Taemin POV: Ch. 21
A Prince in DisguiseTaemin
Scattered around the chamber lay the files with Minho's criminal past.
"That makes no sense." I hear Kibum sigh. He too is leafing through the many records.
This is not how I imagined it. When Minho told me that he had hired Shindong to spread lies about him I saw everything so clearly. But now, questions after questions are piling up in my head.
If Shindong made it all up, there shouldn't be any real victims, but all the files prove me wrong. All these victims are real.
Could Minho have been lying to me? Is he really the horrible monster his reputation says he is?
No. That can't be.
After spending so much time with him, I know him. All of this is not him. I must be missing something, but what?
"Didn't you say he has an aversion to people from rich backgrounds?" asks me Kibum.
"That's right." I go to him, because he is holding out a document to me.
"Then why have only poor people been murdered?" Confused, I look back and forth between him and the folder in his hands.
"What do you mean?"
"Well. Here, for example." He opens the folder and shows me the contents. I lean over his shoulder to read it all.
Victim, male, 34 years old, orphan. Death by strangulation. Had no family. What little possessions he had were stolen.
"But rich people only get stolen from." Kibum puts another file on top of the previous one. I take a close look at this one too. It doesn't add up. I collect all the files and place them in two rows in front of me.
"What are you doing?" Kibum wants to know and looks confused at the new arrangement.
I have divided the files into two strands. Robberies with murder and then just the robberies. As Kibum has already noted it is clear to see that rich people were 'only' robbed, poor people on the other hand were also killed.
"Look here." I show him the dates of the crimes.
"This is where the murders stop, but not the robberies. There has been no murder for over a year and consequently no robbery of poor people. But the rich continued to be robbed." I state.
"Why did he stop?" He gives me an apologetic look. His words imply that Minho must have done it.
