Foreword
Power. Status. Alliances.
These three things are what matter the most to the biggest, richest, and most respected families in Korea or otherwise known as the Chaebols. And within this group of chaebols, only three families are recognized to be the most powerful of all in terms of wealth, connections, and assets. For almost two decades now, only three families have always stayed on top - SM group, JYP group, and the YG group.
These three are closely-knit with each other; building alliances through arranged marriages or joint-ventures just to ensure that they will rule the chaebol class. In terms of ranks, the top family has always been the SM group followed by the YG group and lastly, the JYP group. However, recent issues and scandals have turned these chaebols' world upside down. The unimagineable has finally happened after 20 years - the ranks have finally changed.
