Where to now?Track 3. LOCATION UNKNOWN ◐ (feat. Georgia) by HONNE | ♩
November 20, Saturday morning.
“Mum, where’s Dad?” Bomi asked from the front seat, fiddling with her iPod, as she tried to look for a song to play. “His car was parked at the lot but he wasn’t home.”
“Did you guys fight?” Rin asked with concern. He was sitting in the backseat.
The Byun twins, Bomi and Rin, were now 17 years old; in different homerooms, but both in 11th Grade—the same age when Rara experienced her blood moon. In contrast, Bomi hadn’t experienced hers, in the same way, Rin hasn’t imprinted on anyone yet. It was a Saturday, and Rara was driving them to the school for extracurricular activities—Bomi belonged to the Science club, while Rin played soccer.
Baekhyun and Rara raised them the way they nurtured their relationship: no secrets. They made them promise that as much as possible, in their own comfort, to tell them everything. They also reminded them that it takes only one lie—small or big—just one, to completely destroy a relationship. Once upon a time, Rara tried to protect Baekhyun by parting ways with him, not disclosing the fact that the former head of the vampire council had threatened her to do so, and it did not go well for the both of them. Seeing the effect of secrets, they incorporated the same rules with their children, and since then, both Bomi and Rin have been upfront about their emotions and feelings. No barriers.
And it wasn’t until now that Rara wanted to hide something from them. But Rara wouldn’t dare disrespect this pact, especially in the absence of Baekhyun.
“Uh, no, we didn’t fight Rin.” She said, answering her son’s question first. “But it seems like your dad went off somewhere last night, but I’m trying to reach him.”
“He’s probably pranking you, Mum.” Bomi assured her with a snicker. “He knows you’re a worrywart.”
Rara smiled a little. Bomi was easy-going and pretty blunt. Much of her personality is from Baekhyun’s gene pool. “And if he is, I hope your father doesn’t show up soon because I’m going to punch him in the face for making me feel this way.”
“You think he’s okay though, Mum?” Rin asked.
And here’s the one immersed in my gene pool. Rara looked at Rin from the front mirror, looking into his worried eyes, his eyes that resembled hers. “Of course, Rin. He’s your dad.”
“Okay, Mum.” Rin nodded, showing a bit of comfort in his stature.
When Rara pulled up in front of their school, she told the twins to focus on school and not worry too much about their dad’s absence.
“You’re the one who’s worrying, Ma.” Bomi said as she slung her backpack over her shoulder. “I swear, he’s just messing with you.”
Rin looked at his twin with a frown. “You must be taking part in this, huh? Are you, Bomi?” He said in a low tone. “It’s just as you said; Mum’s already worried.”
“Of course not, dummy.” Bomi chuckled, poking Rin on the cheek. Bomi was 90 seconds older than Rin, and even with such small time, she sometimes treated him like they were years apart; a baby brother. “I’m just trying to comfort Mom, jeez.”
Rara sighed, smiling at both Bomi and Rin. “Okay, enough, both of you. Just don’t dwell on it too much.” She prompted with a small smile. “I’ll see you guys later, then?”
“Yeah. Love you, Mum.” Rin said, beaming at her.
“Hope you catch Dad first.” Bomi said. “I’ll be betting on you Mum
