Chapter 11: YG is not pre-show material

"Well if it isn't our star manager, YG's own Im Yoona!"  As soon as the chimes on the cafe door sounded, Amber and part-timer, Jihoon's attention went to her. "Get the thing, Jihoon!"

"I hate you, Amber!" Yoona joked.

"Oh you'll hate me more." Jihoon handed her a piece of paper. Amber started reading. "G-Dragon's Dream Team Could Pass as Idols. And they list down everyone Seungri-ssi, Tiffany-ssi, Jessica-ssi, Sooyoung-ssi and ahh, here we go. Last but not the least, the new addition to GD's team, Im Yoona of IMY PR and Crisis Management shows to be promising as she is reportedly behind the slow but steady increase of GD's GP rating approval. She turns eyes just like the idol himself and has been the talk of VIPs wondering what designer she's wearing when outside with G-Dragon."

Amber presented the printed article to Yoona. "We're going to have this framed for your new office. Your first news article."

Yoona rolled her eyes. "Oh please. The only reason why they're saying good things about me is they're trying to smooch. Fans know I hold the key to GD's schedule." She took out her notepad and gave the first sheet to Jihoon along with the YG expense card. "10 coffee orders today, please."

"10? Big day?" Amber asked.

"It's the music festival. Seungri is stuck on a meeting at HQ so I'm in charge. I don't know what to expect exactly."

"Cute outfit." Amber complimented. Since she went shopping for new clothes, Yoona's wardrobe has improved 300% than before. It finally had clothes that actually fit her well. Her bestfriend looks like a different person now.

"You think so? Asahi and Jaehyuk picked it out. I was playing video games with them when the new clothes got delivered." Yoona said, giving it a twirl. 

"I figured you wouldn't put that together by your own." Amber punched in the order as her worker starts making the drinks. "I know you have a three-day break coming up soon. I was thinking maybe you should go out with tall guy."

Yoona stopped typing on her phone to give her bestfriend a dead glance. "This tall guy agenda again?"

The barista shrugged. "Come on, tall guy is perfect for you."

"Who's tall guy?" Jihoon asked.

"The tall guy who always comes here and then look around as if looking for someone." Amber explained.

"Ohh! That guy. Is Yoona noona the one he's looking for? But noona is mine, right noona?" Yoona just smiled because how can you not with Jihoon's charm? "Isn't he a---"

"Exactly. His line of business is just too chaotic for me."

"You're one to talk, Yoong. You work for YG." Amber grumbled.

"Exactly my point! If I say I'll think about it, will you stop looking at me like you're so disappointed?" 

Amber finally smiled. "Have fun at work!"

But it wasn't a fun day at work. In fact, this must have been the most stressful day she's had since she started working in YG. 

They arrived at the venue early so they were able to set up on the dressing room properly. GD would share with Taeyang and Yedam not that he minded but it did mean that the room was a little more crowded with all the staff around.

Seungri called her earlier to let her know that everything should be fine and there was no need to do anything really. So she was lounging on the couch, some papers laid down on the coffee table. Tiffany and Jessica were already working on GD while she works on some statistics.

"Yes, sir! She's here, sir. Just.." Sooyoung ran to her, covering the phone on her hand. "It's Hyun Suk sajangnim!"

The documents flew out of her lap as she stood up to receive the phone. "Yoboseyo, sajangnim?"

"Yoona-ssi.. How's the music festival so far?"

"G-good, sir. GD just finished with his sound check." Yoona looked at Sooyoung who was looking at her expectantly waiting for instructions.

YG gave an unsatisfied hum. "Did you check the festival's program?"

"The festival's program? I--" Sooyoung immediately went to look for a copy. "Seungri said everything is set and good but ahh here it is. GD will be the third to perform."

"Yoona-ssi.. check it once again."

Yoona checked the program schedule on her hands again. Sooyoung squeaked, pointing out the problem. G-Dragon is under PRESHOW.  "Oh no."

YG clucked his tongue. "Oh no indeed. G-Dragon is our biggest artist, Yoona-ssi. To be put in a preshow when fans are just entering the venue, not even recorded, no lights or special effects.. an insult."

She bit her lip already thinking hard. How can this happen? Why are they only finding it out now? 

"One song.. This is GD's first appearance in a music show in months.. and we're only getting one song." YG continued his rant. "Yoona-ssi.. we hired you to fix problems. This is a problem. FIX IT."

"Y-yes, sir!"

"YG artists were never made for preshows. You know so well that statistics is everything now. You don't want to be the first to put one of my artists in one."

Yang Hyunsuk ended the call. It left Yoona cold and with jaw dropped. She can't be the first. The whole YG reputation would take a hit on this.

"Yoona? Yoona?" Sooyoung tapped her back to the present. "What should we do? It's 4 hours before the start of the show."

"PD-nim! I called my co-manager and this isn't definitely what you agreed with. G-Dragon should have gotten a spot on the main show. Moreover, Seungri-ssi told me you begged the management to let GD attend. And now this?"

The PD scratched his head. He had been trying to evade Yoona as he was busy checking everything for the festival. But the new manager was very persistent. "I'm sorry, Ms. Im. Things change. The network just don't feel like it would be best for us to showcase G-Dragon."

He walked away. Yoona remained standing there shocked by the sudden news. 

Sooyoung who was standing beside her whispered. "This network and that PD is very traditional. That PD.. he also doesn't like women in position."
