Chapter 9

Chapters

Hoseok smiled at her. he tried to fix his messy hair from the concert. Then realizing that everyone was looking back and forth between the two he decided to find somewhere private to talk to her. He cleared his throat and walked towards her.

“Let's go somewhere private to talk.” He had gotten so close she could touch him.

“Private? Oi J-hope moving this along!” Jungkook laughed.

“Entertain her friend ok? And behave!” He pointed to all of the members with a serious look.

“Shouldn’t we be saying the same to you?” Jimin said with a smirk.

Realizing he was getting a little flustered, Phoebe tapped his arm, “Come on let’s talk.” Hoseok smiled as he led her out of the room and down into the hall. He looked to see if there was a spot that would be private enough for them. Hoseok led her down a side hallway that was out of the way. He stopped and turned to see her but before he could get a word out she was giving him a slight bow.

“I am so sorry for spilling those noodles on you!”

“No! Don’t apologize. If it wasn’t for that you wouldn’t be here right now!” He couldn’t help but laugh at her being embarrassed.

“Ugh, but I said all of those embarrassing things to you!”
“What was so embarrassing?”

“I was fangirling about you through those texts and I had no idea you were… well... You!”

Hoseok chuckled a little, remembering her telling him about him being her bias and why.

“I thought it was cute. It was so genuine which I like about you.”

Phoebe looked down to hide her blush. When she moved here she didn’t even dream about meeting J-hope let alone standing this close to him. She took in the sight just incase this some sort of prank on her. His black hair was hanging naturally over his forehead and his smile brought such warmth to her like the sun.

“You know I just realized something,” She mentioned.

“That I don’t know your name yet?” They both laughed. After a month of just referring to each other as different variations of “Mystery Person” It almost seemed strange to know each other’s names.

“It’s Phoebe Williams.”

“Phoebe,” He repeated with a smile, “It’s nice to meet you. I”m Jung Hoseok but you can just call me Hoseok or J-hope… or Hobi.”

“I guess it just depends on the mood then?” The pair giggled.

“So…” Hoseok began, “You’re not angry with me for not telling you?”

“No. I am sure you had some reason for the rules you set up. I’m just a little embarrassed.”

“I told you not to be! You have nothing to be embarrassed about. It put a big smile on my face the more and more I learned about you. Also, Jin may have been mad at me for telling you to only buy the J-hope tiny figure.”

Phoebe laughed, “Would it make him feel better if I bought his too?”

“No, let me hold it over his head.” Hoseok laughed. Both started to feel a little more relaxed as the conversation went on. He didn’t realize how pretty she was until he was talking to her face to face. It was nice. He noticed the small dimples when she smiled and the way her eyes sparkled.

“We are about to head back home to have a few drinks and eat to celebrate the first concert. Would you like to come?”

“Sure! But I don’t know where you live.”

“Don’t worry. I’ve got that covered.”

Phoebe bit her lip still trying to process everything that had happened in the past several hours. She was racking her brain to come up with a plausible reason as to why this had happened to her. The universe had dealt her a bad hand in the past but now it seemed to be doing the opposite.

“Can I ask you something though?” She looked into his eyes trying so hard to not look away in embarrassment.

“Yeah.”

“Why me?”

The question confused him for a moment. He tilted his head looking at the woman before him waiting for his answer. Realizing this was important he thought about his answer carefully.

“Well… I mean you were so cute in that moment…” He looked down to his feet before picking the right words, “I honestly didn’t think you would text me but when you did I thought that maybe I could have a genuine relationship with someone that would treat me like a normal human being other than the rest of the members.”

“So, you thought I was cute which prompted you to give me your number but it was because I treated you like a creepy convenience store guy that you kept talking to me?”

They both laughed at her conclusion.

“Yes, in a way. I hope you keep treating me the same. Now, come on. The guys are waiting.” Hoseok walked with her back to the room where the rest of the group was waiting.

“I can’t believe I’m going to the convenience store guy’s party. My mom would think I have a death wish!”

Hoseok laughed at her joke as he opened the door. The rest of the members were taking photos with Paenji and laughing at their ridiculous expressions. Taehyung saw them standing in the doorway.

“Oh! You’re back! They got the cars pulled around back for us. We were just waiting for you.”

“Wanna party with BTS Paenji?” Phoebe laughed.

“I already said yes. Now, let's get out of here!” Everyone laughed and headed for the cars. Phoebe walked next to Hoseok wanting to stay close to him. She couldn’t wipe the smile off her face. Hoseok fought the urge to hold her hand but he didn’t want to mess this up. Not when he had just truly met her.

The same three black cars from earlier had been pulled around to the secured back entrance away from the fans and cameras. Taehyung helped Paenji get into the first car before getting in with her and Jungkook. Phoebe could tell she was having the time of her life. Hoseok opened the car door for her as Namjoon hopped into the front seat of the same car.

“Your chariot awaits my lady,” Hoseok giggled.

“Why thank you, good sir.” Phoebe slid in as she laughed. Namjoon eyed the pair as they got in the car laughing at each other. He smiled thinking about how happy Hoseok looked.

“So, did you enjoy the show?” Namjoon asked.

“Yeah! I swear you guys never disappoint.”

“Was this your first live show?” Hoseok asked.

“Nah. I saw you every time you came to LA. This was my first show in Seoul though.” The three of them chatted through the car ride. Nerves were starting to dissipate for both Phoebe and Hoseok but that butterfly feeling never went away. The sign for the apartment complex caught Phoebe’s eye. She marveled at the apartments of the ultra-rich as they rode up towards the member’s apartments.

“Yeah we never thought we would end up living here either,” Hoseok said, seeing her doe eyes looking up at the buildings.

“You guys definitely deserve it.” She turned her attention back to the man sitting next to her. While the three of them joked and laughed through the ride she was still hyper-aware of him next to her. The car stopped in front of what she assumed was their building. She could hear Paenji and Tae cracking up as they climbed out of the car. The group headed up to Jin’s apartment where he had food and drink for them to celebrate.

The apartment was as luxurious as she expected. Jin was quickly getting the food out of the fridge and starting on making fried rice. Phoebe hopped on a barstool next to Hoseok.

“Want a drink?” Hoseok offered. Phoebe nodded in agreement. She looked around the room trying not to be obvious. Jin’s kitchen was immaculate but she expected that from him.

Hoseok took notice of her looking around.

“What are you thinking?” Hoseok’s soft whisper caught her off guard. She turned and was met with his wide smile. Her heart fluttered when their eyes met.

“I was just admiring his kitchen. I used to have one like it back in L.A.” She smiled at the memories of her and her father cooking and the delicious smells of her mother’s french bread on Christmas morning.

“Yeah, I guess most kitchens in Seoul are smaller than what you are used to.” Hoseok then took a sniff in Jin’s direction. “I smell cucumber kimchi?”

“Well, I wasn’t just gonna make any old fried rice.” Jin turned to see the two of them pretty close to each other. He noticed the look on Hoseok was that of a quiet happy smile.

“Ah, it’s so nice to see our Hobi smiling like that,” Jin commented as he put the two plates of fried rice on the counter. Hoseok cleared his throat trying to hide the growing blush.

“Oh, don’t hide it Hoseok we all know you've been nervous about telling her who you are because of your growing feelings.” Suga leaned on the counter with a cat-like grin.

“Aish!” Hoseok shoved Suga playfully as Phoebe giggled. She enjoyed seeing the guys interact with each other. Hoseok turned back to her with a giant goofy smile. She then stuffed her face with rice and smiled back. The celebration continued on. The nine of them ate and drank. Throughout the party, Hoseok and Phoebe seemed to have been moving closer to each other.

At one point they were all sitting around the TV when Hoseok had his arm propped up on the couch around Phoebe’s shoulders. It felt so natural to them that they didn’t even realize it until Phoebe re-adjusted herself and felt his hand on her shoulder. A shy smile grew on her face but she could see Hoseok eyeing her from the corner of her eye. Phoebe shifted herself closer to him.

“I think It’s time I head home,” Paenji said with a stretch.

“I’ll take you home.” Taehyung stood and stretched out a hand to her.

“Don’t stay out too late V! We have a plane to catch tomorrow!” Jungkook blurted out.

“I’ll sleep on the plane.” Taehyung waved them off as he led Paenji out. Phoebe giggled as she watched the two leave the apartment.

“I’m sure I’ll hear all about it later.” She settled back into her place next to Hoseok where they hung out for the rest of the night until one by one each member finally headed to bed.

“I should head back so you can get some sleep.”

“I’ll take you back. Make sure you get home ok.” Phoebe nodded at his suggestion. They were quiet on the walk to the car. Hoseok’s knuckles brushed against her as he opened the door for her. It was late and not many were on the road while they drove.
“I kinda hate that you tell me the day before you leave for four months.”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t want you to find out while I was away. Plus I wanted to be able to video chat with you.”

Phoebe bit her lip. The action didn’t go unnoticed by Hoseok. They pulled up to her home and got out. Both were dreading this part of the night. Phoebe stopped at the door and turned to save Hoseok.

“You’ve gained my trust long before I knew who you were but, I don’t feel I’ve gained yours. Or deserve it.” Phoebe looked into his dark brown eyes.

“Wait for me.” His words caught her off guard.

“What?”

Hoseok took a step towards her, “Wait for me. I want to do this right. Take you out for dinner, have movie nights… Just wait for me.”

His words made her heart stop for a moment. He was so earnest and fragile at that moment. She couldn’t believe that one of the biggest idols in the world was asking her to wait for him. Phoebe took the last step towards him and wrapped her arms around him. After the initial shock, Hoseok wrapped his arms around her and smiled.

“I’ll wait for you Hoseok.”

Chapter 2: Awww....only on Chapter 2 atm, but it's a really cute & fluffy beginning so far! Also, love the story cover!! It's simple & easy on the eyes.
Tbh, for this chapter, I was a bit surprised because the texting part kinda reminds me of what I'm doing for one of my stories (similar in the sense of finding love through the help of technology, I think). Though, I suppose it's common nowadays.
Hope you don't mind a bit of unsolicited suggestion, but I think it would be helpful for readers to visualize how Phoebe looks like if you can give a bit of description in the first chapter. I was having a bit of trouble trying to imagine how she looks like. Is she an Asian-American, or a blonde Caucasian, and etc.
Anyways, I look forward to your updates. Meanwhile, I'm glad to have chapters to catch up at the moment as I wait for your future updates! :)
