….the engagement day…

It was a dinner party held at one of the hotel in Seoul. Most guests are mainly just close family and friends. Namjoon sat uncomfortably in their circle of friends at a table next to the Mins and Yoos family.

“..Yoongi..are you sure that you want to be engaged with Heejin?...” “…it’s for the best of the company and my family…yes..I believe so…” Yoongi answered him while flipping over his notes. “….what about your feelings?....don’t you care about it?....”the dark haired man didn’t respond until after a good two seconds “….I guess we couldn’t always get what we want…right?...” “..what do you want in your life?...” “...it’s not important Joon…I just want eomma to be happy…I guessed I’ve hurt her before…she looked hurt whenever I talked back at her…”. Namjoon stared at his best friend “…yes..I know you’re doing the best you can…”. He wanted to shout at him that he’s been lying to him his best friend and how sorry he was.

Namjoon came back to his present senses where he saw his best friend sitting calmly next to his fiancé. Mr Min stood up and cleared his throat to speak. “….good evening everyone ..thank you for coming tonight to celebrate my son’s engagement day…I want to make a toast …please everyone…” he held up his champagne glass “…to Yoongi and Heejin!..the future of the two families….”. Everyone cheered giving a loud applaud for the new two engaged couples. Both couples stood up and bowed their heads to the guests. Mrs Kim has been phrasing and congratulating Yoongi’s mother “….you’re so lucky to have a soon to be daughter in law …I’m so jealous..I just hope Jin will find one soon…” “..ohh..thank you…I’m glad too.. Yoongi finally agreed with our choice and they grew fond of each other……”.

Heejin couldn’t help herself but to listen to the two women’s conversation. So the other woman must be Jin’s mother. She’s still a beautiful woman even at her age. No wonder Jin was so good looking. He must be taking it after his mother. Her heart skipped a beat recalling back how Jin begged her not to leave him. She lower her gaze just to hold the tears from falling. She wanted Yoongi for fame and wealth which also her parent’s wish to establish their business broader. For Jin the man who has given his heart to her. He was someone who she could rely on.
