“So? How is it?”

Rosé straightened herself up in her seat and shifted her attention away from her meal, upon hearing  the question. Her shy gaze is now fixed on the gorgeous woman sitting across her, but not before taking one last bite of her fried tofu. She swallowed first before talking, rather awkwardly. “I-It’s really good sunbaenim.”

“Ah, I see.”

Suzy did not probe any further. Another failed attempt at conversing, she thought. She can only chuckle at Rosé as she drank from her glass of freshly squeezed lemon juice. She let out a soft smile from her lips while doing so.

The two are currently eating breakfast in a newly established modern Japanese restaurant located in Jamsil, that Suzy stumbled upon the previous month when she got her hair done. Suzy had grown to love the place since it’s only a three minute walk from the salon, and there’s not much customers in it specially in the morning. It’s also owned by a Japanese couple in their forties that had no idea who she is (Suzy assumed they had recently migrated.) , so she found herself coming back due to the privacy, accessibility and good food that the restaurant offered her.

Just when she thought that the restaurant couldn’t be more perfect, the owners surprisingly didn’t seem to know who Rosé is either. Plus, they are seated in a secluded spot of the restaurant which added more to their peace.

Earlier when she mentioned that she wanted Rosé to stay to get to know her better, she wasn’t kidding. There’s something about the girl that made the actress feel at ease. Despite the awkward conversations and the short amount of time they’ve known each other, Suzy can already see that Rosé radiated of positivity, kindness, compassion. 

These are the types of people she wanted to be around with the most. 

No wonder Hyeri’s thinks highly of her.

It does not stop there, for Suzy also thinks that the girl is full of surprises. 

She basically sat there throughout their breakfast, gaping most of the time because of the younger’s ability to eat and eat like there’s no tomorrow. It’s literally Rosé’s fourth plate of natto at the moment, and from the looks of it, it’s going to be her fifth one soon.

I’m glad that the food made her comfortable...at least.

Suzy snapped out of her reflection and cleared , “Rosé-ssi...?” she called out hesitantly. This is already her second attempted conversation with Rosé.

As they walked towards the restaurant earlier, there had only been awkward smiles and a few exchanges between the two. It even got worse when their meal was served. An uncomfortable silence immediately enshrouded them, and only the sound of soft clinking of utensils was heard.

Suzy then, started to think that this was a bad idea.

I should’ve bought Hyeri with me. She can lift up the mood.

Rosé once again looked up from her food. In her cheeks, a subtle flush of pink had emerged. Her cheeks are also puffed because of the amount of food she’s currently devouring. It made Rosé look absolutely adorable that Suzy almost wanted to squeal.

The sight of Rosé like that definitely caused a tiny emotion of joy to stir inside of her.

“Y-yes?”

Suzy composed herself. “How...” are you not full yet? “...do you manage to eat all of that?” she asked carefully, a bit scared that she’ll offend the younger.

Rosé paused, her spoon held halfway to . “I- I’m so sorry!” she answered, flustered and slightly panicked. She put her spoon down as realization hit her that she’s been shamelessly ordering whatever food there is on the menu and that she’s not paying for all of it. She honestly couldn’t believe that she lost her manners just like that. Literally all because of food.

 “I’ll pay you back suz- sunbaenim, I promise.” 

Suzy noticed the slip up and laughed softly. She rested her head on her right hand as she stared at Rosé from across the table, obviously amused. “You can call me unnie.” she said, “We’re practically...” friends? no, not yet at least. “We practically know each other now.” 

Rosé gulped, “O-okay...” quite unsure. They had only recently met and Suzy’s her senior in the industry, so she isn’t sure if the elder was okay with dropping formalities. But now that Suzy’s given her a go, she figured it was probably just fine. 

“Suzy...unnie.” Rosé says, a bit confident, but also careful at the same time. It’s as if she’s testing how well the name fits on her tongue, and for some odd reason, it made her own stomach flutter.

Ugh, this is definitely because of the food, Rosé thought.

The moment Rosé mentioned her name without the awkwardness this time, Suzy immediately broke into a smile. “See? That’s better.” she said. “Oh and don’t worry about it, I told you it’s my treat...” Money isn’t a problem, she thought. 

“But i’ve already—“

Suzy cut her off, but gently. “It’s fine Rosé-ah” she said. “I was just curious cause you ate a lot and Hyeri mentioned that you’re having another comeback soon. Aren’t you guys supposed to be given restrictions on your diet?”

It’s true, though. Comeback periods are always stressful. Continuous rehearsals, appearances, and diet restrictions. It’s like being a trainee all over again.

It makes her kind of relieved that she’s an actress now, really.

“Ah, yes it’s fine actually.” Rosé responded. “We’re given restrictions but I can manage...plus, I don’t really gain weight.” she whispered to herself the last part. 

However, Suzy heard it and smiled widely, showing off her teeth. She sighed and let out a soft laugh. “That’s a relief then.” 

Rosé as well, couldn’t help but smile back. The woman she’s facing is definitely affecting her in so many ways she couldn’t imagine. Her smile is literally so contagious. It's almost impressive how the actress can influence someone just like that, how she can easily change one's mood through her beautiful smile, charming laugh, and comforting voice. 

She’s the nation’s first love for a reason.

The awkward atmosphere from earlier was starting to clear up, and the two found themselves thankful despite the small progress. However, Rosé couldn’t help but bring up the question that’s been bothering her. “You mentioned Hyeri-unnie, does...does she know we’re together?”

Silence.

Wow, that was worded in a wrong way.

“I...I mean—!” she corrected herself immed
