Description

Park Chaeyoung was the most passionate and talented musician that Kim Jennie had ever met, not that she had met all that many, but for her Park Chaeyoung was unlike anyone she had ever met, and it only took a few encounters for Jennie to realize she had fallen so in love with the woman who played the guitar like her very life depended on it. Chapter 1: I think this turned out very well. I liked it a lot. Your writing is always very good and refreshing to read, and this is no different. I like the repeated phrase in the story- "And before she knew it..." I also do personally like that it's at the beginning because it aids in setting up the main plot. In other words, the reader gets the sense of what is going to happen, but they don't know exactly how, if that makes sense. Then you get the line a little later on when Jennie is in the middle of experiencing these feelings, which I also like. At that point, the reader has seen how these feelings have developed (they've been introduced to this musician along with Jennie and have seen how the relationship has developed) and so when the phrase is repeated, it's even more meaningful. I would almost wish it were repeated again at some point, but I feel like that could also be a bit much, especially since the work is shorter and the repetition placed too close together could do the opposite of what it is intended to do.

I also like the progression of the story. I like how before Jennie is even introduced to Chaeyoung, she is introduced to her music, and it's almost as if she falls in love with that first and then her love for Chaeyoung follows suit. The fact that the characters are consistent sits right with my spirit as well. Chaeyoung is constantly working on her songs. We see that in various things she does. She spaces out because she's thinking about lyrics or a beat, and her fingers tap trying to find the right melody. Jennie is also consistent. She is Chaeyoung's support system throughout even from the beginning. When they first meet, she compliments her music even though Chaeyoung isn't happy with it. She is constantly encouraging her and being there for her, often even taking care of her. I do like the dynamic I'm presented with.

The only thing I'd like more of is more information on the characters because we do only really get limited information. Chaeyoung is a musician who has played guitar for 10 years. Jennie isn't, she has a job, lives in an apartment complex, and is a huge fan of Chaeyoung's music and her. There's not much there other than that. Even so, that's information we'd likely get if this piece was more of a series, so I can understand the lack of that information since it's not necessarily important for the plot, but it would be nice to know certain things. For one, why does Chaeyoung never seem to be happy with her music when Jennie thinks it's amazing? Is Jennie just biased and even if it doesn't sound good, she thinks it does? Has Chaeyoung's music been scrutinized or critiqued so harshly in the past that she's obsessed with making it perfect? Little things like that would be interesting to know, but again, I imagine stuff like that would be more important to know if the work was a series.

In all, I really did like this. I felt like it was well-written and everything was well-placed. It was a very enjoyable read. Thank you for writing more Chaennie. No matter how much Chaennie already written, I will always feel like it's never enough because I just can't get enough of them haha. I love your writing so much, so I will definitely be reading more once I have the chance.

Hey authornim, is there any chance that you can make a SooSeo fan fiction? (Sooyoung and Seohyun of SNSD) since they’re even rarer than Chaennie
