The female population was becoming dangerously low, no one understood why. There had been no large wars for decades and no disease to plague them; there was just no way to explain how this happened. Their numbers were just dwindling, and with the female population falling to nothing, their entire race was going to disappear right along with them. Though this wasn’t the first time the birth rate was low, it had happened before, but never at such an alarming rate.

It was during the first low that scientist had introduced male pregnancy. Scientist had came with a way to alter the males body, though it took several years to perfect, and having it become a genetic trait. It had become common for males to mate with each other; they were now labels for the two types of males: the Dominates and the Carriers. Through the decades birthrate had increased and their numbers grew, the threat of becoming endangered slowly vanishing. A decent amount of females were being to thrive in their world, but not many of them were fertile and so the practice of male Carriers never deceased.

When a male was reaching their teenage years that their body had changed. If a man was to be a Carrier their bodies went through an excruciating amount of pain altering itself; if a man was to be a Dominate his body reacted normally though his senses would heighten in order to help find a fertile mate. Though in time it proved that even the body did have some difficulties deciding what it was going to be and and to be coaxed to changed, usually with the help of parents, a person of interest or a doctor which was the safest option.

Pregnancy was a dangerous thing though, especially for the male body, though it did prove difficult for female but it wasn’t as deadly. For men problems had showed between the sixth and seventh month of their pregnancy. It was during those months that they felt pain in their abdominal area; too much stress had been place on their bodies which resulted in the death of the mother, child, or both. Through trial and error, countless heartbreak, they had found a solution. With the first signs of pain, the baby would be taken out of the Carrier and the premature baby would be place into an incubator until it matured enough to be taken home.
