While She Sleeps

One: Sooyoung

She watches Seungwan-eonnie wave at her, watches her go, watches her disappear as she turns to the third bedroom in the dorm at the end of the hall. Oh, Sooyoung understands right then.

Two: Seulgi

Even in her sleep, their eldest sister tilts her face towards the warmth of Seungwan’s hand.

Although Seulgi’s eyes feel heavier, her heart is lighter. “Mm.” She feels the fatigue and medicine kick again.

Three: Yerim

“You’re her favorite. You don’t count.” She feels bad for continuously snapping at Wendy-eonnie, who has been nothing but considerate to her ever since the two of them find that yellow newspaper and its Five No More headline. Still, even shame doesn’t do anything to her wondering if she were doing the right thing, if coming were going to make Joohyunnie change her mind, if—knowing how determined Joohyunie is—Joohyunnie would change her mind.
