Hyukjae was running around the kitchen making sure the food he prepared was properly organized and double checking that all the baby-proof locks they installed two nights before were all still functioning well. Donghae, on the other, was in the living room arranging and re-arranging their small stacks of magazine to make sure that it looked presentable to their awaiting guest per Hyukjae's instructions. He kept glancing towards the kitchen to see if Hyukjae was on his way out just so he could show him that he was doing what his husband had asked him to do earlier. 

"Donghae-ah, I think this screw is loose." Hyukjae called from the kitchen. "We need to fix this before she gets here!"

Donghae sighed and stood up from where he was sitting to go see what Hyukjae was fussing on about. Sure enough, he found the latter with a screwdriver trying to tighten the screw on one of the strap locks he had installed on their kitchen drawer a few nights ago. 

"Hyuk, what are you doing?"

"I just need to fix this."

"It's not broken." Donghae grabbed Hyukjae's hand and was surprised at how cold it was. He lightly chuckled at his husband's nerves for getting the best of him and decided to take the screwdriver out of his hand and held both his hand with his own to warm them up a little. Donghae squeezed Hyukjae's hand to reassure him that everything will be fine and that there's no need for him to be so frantic. "Will you calm down? Babies don't like it when their parents are stressed."

Hyukjae knows Donghae was trying to comfort him but hearing that only stress him even more. "Oh my god -- she's gonna hate me, isn't she?"

Donghae laughed out loud and pulled Hyukjae in his embrace. "No, she's not."

"But--But you just said!"

"I said they don't like it when their parents are stressed so just calm down and breathe."

Hyukjae pouted but did eventually wrap his arms around Donghae's waist as he tried to calm himself by listening to Donghae's heartbeat. After a few seconds, Hyukjae could feel himself matching Donghae's even breath and smiled. 

"How can you be so calm right now?" Hyukjae mumbled against his shoulders. "Aren't you freaked out that any minute now our daughter will be here and we'd be parents."

"Why would I worry?" Donghae asked with a light chuckle. "I'll just pass her to you if she starts crying."

"Yah!" Hyukjae pulled away and hit Donghae's chest. "I'll strangle you in your sleep if you ever do that."

Donghae released a loud boisterous laugh and smirked. "Are you ready to be a single parent?"

Hyukjae scoffed and walked out of the kitchen. "I think I want a divorce."

"Hyukkie!" Donghae ran after him and wrapped his arms around his waist from behind. "Seoweon can't grow up without a father."

"She has a father." Hyukjae countered referring to himself. 

"Yeah, but it's better to have two." Donghae looked at Hyukjae from his shoulders and smiled brightly. Hyukjae looked at him with a sly smile playing around his lips and Donghae took that chance to steal a kiss. The latter wasn't able to retaliate as in that moment their doorbell rang. Hyukjae gasped while Donghae looked at the door excitedly. "Are you ready?"

"Not really." Hyukjae said nervously and looked around their house again to make sure everthing was in place. Not that he had any chance to fix the crooked coffee table because Donghae had already opened the front door to welcome their guest in. 

"Hello." Donghae greeted and looked at the sleeping baby in her arms expectantly. He grabbed the baby carrier she was holding in one hand and motioned her inside the house. "Please, come in."

"Thank you." She said with a smile and slowly walked in. As soon as she was inside their home, she smiled seeing Donghae and Hyukjae's photos together displayed round the house and at how clean and organized everything looked. She almost wanted to warn them that they should take a photo of it now since they probably won't have it this spick and span for at least the next 18 years. She glanced towards Hyukjae who was fixing the coffee table to align with their couch and gave him a warm friendly smile. "Hello."

"O-Oh! Uhm..uh, Hi..," He reached his hand out for her to take then quickly retreated back when he saw the sleeping baby in her arms. "Um, s-sorry. She's sleeping I shouldn't-"

Her smile only widened seeing how nervous he seemed to be. "Would you like to hold her?"

"M-Me?" Hyukjae asked, perplexed, then looked towards Donghae for some help but saw he was  busy putting the baby stuff away in one corner of the room. "I-I don't know. I mean, I don't want to wake her."

"You'll have to hold her some time." She encouraged and walked closer to Hyukjae. "Just mind her head and make sure you support her body with your arms."

Hyukjae felt his heart beat faster by the second as he slowly felt his daughter's weight in his arms. He did what he was told and gently cradled her in his arms; making sure to put extra effort in keeping her head up with her body.. She fussed a little at first, her nap getting interrupted now that she was being transferred from one person to another, and was ready to cry out her frustrations, but then Hyukjae rocked her body a little and danced her around back to sleep. Sure enough, she quickly got comfortable in his arms and even leaned her head closer to Hyukjae's chest for some warmth. Almost immediately, Hyukjae fell in love with her. 

"Congratulations." The social worker said looking at Hyukjae then at Donghae. "You two are officially parents."

Donghae beamed silently and wanted to see their daughter but thought it'd be impolite to not walk their guest out the door. As soon as she was sure that Seoweon was settled with her new home, she announced her leave and left. Donghae walked back to the living room and found Hyukjae still lightly lulling their daughter to sleep while cooing at her peaceful slumber face. Donghae didn't think he could fall for his husband any more but Hyukjae proves him wrong everyday. He walked closer to them and slowly wrapped his arms around Hyukjae's waist while peering over his shoulder to look at their daughter. Hyukjae smiled but did feel slightly ridiculous that they were basically dancing together while their baby was in his arms sleeping. 

"Be careful, Hae. We don't want to wake her up."

"I want to hold her too." Donghae said and tried to take Seoweon from Hyukjae but the latter shifted away trying to keep her asleep. 

"No. You're gonna wake her up."

"No, I won't." Donghae argued and tried to reach for her again. "I just want to hold her."

Hyukjae narrowed his eyes at him but seeing the pout Donghae sported, he reluctantly gave in. "Alright, but make sure you're careful. If you disturb her sleep she's gonna end up crying."

"I'm not gonna make her cry." Donghae muttered and then smiled brightly when Hyukjae started to hand her over. He held her very carefully in his arms and tried to cradle her but not even ten seconds later, she started to squirm followed by small hints of her cry. Donghae gasped and tried to stop it by making shushing sounds and cradling her faster with bigger and wider movements but that just woke her up even more. Within the next minute, their house was filled by the sound of her crying. 

"Aish! Lee Donghae! I told you to not wake her up!"

"I didn't, I swear! She just started to do it on her own!"

Seowon kept crying out loud and no amount of cooing or cradling from Donghae could get her to stop. Hyukjae finally took pity on the both of them and grabbed her from Donghae and very gently placed her head over his chest. Her loud cries slowly lowered until it was reduced to light hiccups. Donghae watched completely amazed at how quickly Hyukjae was able to calm her down. 

"Wow. You didn't tell me you had magic baby powers."

Hyukjae glared at him and grabbed a throw pillow from the couch and threw it at Donghae who quickly caught it with a playful laugh. Both of them blisfully unaware of the surprise coming their way. 

A/N: If you were following me on IG this really wouldn't be a surprise. Lol! This story won't be very plot heavy and more like a series of OS of  their life as a family. I didn't originally intend it to be the sequel of FwB but I guess this would be the logical next step after I finish writing their chaotic wedding haha ^^; So, if you're a new reader and you would like some history regarding their relationship I'd suggest reading Friends with Benefits ;) 

Yes, this is an Mpreg fic and those are two pics of baby!Donghae because guess what? The surprise are the twins that look like him! haha  This is definitely a crack!fic but don't worry there's still some fluffy and "aww" moments into their married life ^_^ Side note: There is no "umma" character because family is family. I worked with a lot of same- families and they all don't overcompensate or take on a role so I hope this fic would shed some light over those common misconception. A family is complete as long as there is love, support, and understanding within the family. That's why this story starts with adoption followed by Hyukjae's unexpected miracle because regardless of whether you're related by blood or by law, you create your own family based on the choices you make. :) Enjoy!
