It's Good to be Home.
Come and Find Me in the Clouds
After they left Namsan Tower, Youngsoon and Jinyoung wandered around the streets with no specific direction in mind. Today was going to be an unplanned day, a day of improvisation, a day of unpredictability and for once Youngsoon was fine with not having control. After all, when was the last time she had spent a day so aimlessly?
Despite the cold temperature, there was a surprisingly large amount of people walking around and when they accidentally ventured into a busy market, Jinyoung naturally reached for Youngsoon’s hand so that they would not get separated. Jinyoung had to bite back a small smile, enjoying how Youngsoon’s hand fit in his so perfectly. As for Youngsoon, she was filled with a sense of stability and comfort and found herself leaning closer towards Jinyoung like a sunflower yearning for the attention of the sun.
With the rich aroma of food from the street stalls filling the air, both of their stomachs rumbled in unison, demanding to be filled up. It was well into the afternoon and neither of them had eaten anything since breakfast. Exchanging a knowing look, Youngsoon took the lead this time and guided them towards a small restaurant managed by an elderly lady that was hidden away in an alleyway.
Within moments, Jinyoung and Youngsoon were sitting across from each other with a bowl of steaming hot ox bone soup each. It was a simple food and its milky white broth made it appear almost too plain at first sight. However once Youngsoon dug her spoon into the broth, a treasure of meat and noodles emerged. Loudly slurping the noodles and the broth, Jinyoung and Youngsoon grinned at each other with their mouths full to the brim, enjoying what was the perfect food for a cold November day.
Once the bottom of the bowl could be seen, Youngsoon leaned back in satisfaction, a content smile gracing her face. The state of relaxation did not last long however because the instant Youngsoon let her guard down, Mark’s words resurfaced in her mind.
“Do you think I’m wasting Mark’s good intentions and efforts? Am I being too stubborn for my own good?”
The doubts rolled out of her tongue almost unintentionally and Jinyoung’s gaze hardened as he put his chopsticks down.
“What did I say?” Jinyoung chided. “Today we are running away from adulthood. Be irresponsible for once. Leave those thoughts for later.”
“For later…” Youngsoon echoed.
“Yes, for later,” Jinyoung reaffirmed. “Just enjoy the here and now, leave everything else for later.”
“That doesn’t sound very responsible,” Youngsoon chuckled.
“I know.” Jinyoung sniggered. “And that’s the beauty of it.”
Having no desire or motivation to argue back, Youngsoon nodded along and forced herself to let go of the matter. Just as Jinyoung said, it could wait for later. Now was not the time.
