When they are downstairs, away from their exes with a good distance, Haerin lets go of her hold on Baekhyun’s wrist. She turns to face the boy and notices his face has wiped off any expressions from earlier. Had Haerin doesn’t witness what just happened three minutes ago, she really thought after all this time Baekhyun is completely okay from his ended relationship. But that’s not true at all. The boy really knows how to hide his true feelings.

“I’m going to the pool.” Haerin says.

Baekhyun nods and his head to the other side, telling Haerin he’ll go back to Jongdae and the others. Baekhyun is about to lift his foot when Haerin holds his arm and tip-toes closer. She angles her head to his ear, with a voice louder so that he can hear from the deafening music, she says,

“Baekhyun, cheer up!”

She pulls back with an understanding smile on her face which making Baekhyun smiles too, appreciating her. His eyes stay on Haerin as she walks away and disappears behind the doors that leads to the pool. He twists his neck to look at Jongdae and the others are, then to the bottles of beer on table at the center.

Haerin flinches back when suddenly a bottle of beer appears right in front of her face. Her eyes drag from the bottle to the beautiful fingers holding it up to a face she just left not five minutes ago. She sighs and accepts the drink. She places the lips of the bottle against her lips before tilting it up, eyes on Baekhyun who taking off his shoes and sock and rolling up his pants. Her eyes never leaves him even though he sits himself next to her with his legs dip onto the water.

She chuckles, “What are you doing here? When people see us sit alone together, they’ll think we’re pathetic.”

“You care what other people think?”

She leans back with one of her arm supporting her weight. “I can’t say I’m a hundred percent don’t care.”

“Haerin.” The said girl turns to him. Baekhyun has his knees up and rests his chin on top of it. His eyes are staring somewhere far away. “I’m sorry about Yuna being rude to you.”

“She’s not your girlfriend anymore.”

Baekhyun huffs, changing his head position into resting his forehead on his knees. “I know.”

“So, you don’t need to say that for her.”

Baekhyun slowly turns his head, facing Haerin. “Yuna has never liked you.”

Haerin merely laughs at that. It’s not a secret anymore that Yuna doesn’t really like her. Baekhyun and Haerin are in one circle of friends. And when they were still dating, Yuna always had that rude tone whenever they had a conversation. Haerin never understands but she doesn’t look far into it just because she was Baekhyun’s girlfriend. She just tried to not talk to her too much. Keep it short all the time.
