No One P.O.V.

Umji still remembers everything. She was so young when she first met SinB. She was so innocent back then. It was her first scouting. She went there by curiosity. Her parents did tell her that she could go but she had to be careful and always behave well. But that, she knew well because she was a well-mannered girl. What she couldn’t know was that she was going to meet SinB.
Umji remembered well, it was during the night of the first day. There was a little party in the forest. The teacher taught them how to burn marshmallows and the names of the constellations in the sky. But during the explanation Umji was disturbed by the view of a girl who was not listening. She was eating strawberries as if they were popcorn. Umji was wondering how that girl managed to find these fruits. Did she bring them whereas it was totally forbidden to bring any food ? Umji noticed that the girl was hiding the strawberries in her pocket.  When Umji looked up, she caught the girl’s eyes. She  immediately wondered since when the girl had noticed Umji’s eyes on her. She had this cold aura around her which intrigued Umji even more. Umji feared the teacher would catch her not listening so she turned for a second towards him. And when she turned back again toward the girl, the latter wasn’t there anymore. Umji was really surprised. Her eyes were looking for the girl but she was nowhere to be found. Suddenly she felt a light tap on her shoulder. She turned herself and there she was … the mysterious girl.
She was looking at her with still the same pokerface. Umji was speechless as the other girl wasn’t saying anything. But then Umji looked at the hands of the girl and she finally noticed what the girl was doing. She was offering some strawberries to her. Umji wanted to refuse as she didn’t even ask for them. Then she chuckled - It was just so funny how the girl thought that Umji was envious of her eating strawberries. But at the same time, Umji felt really touched by her gesture. So she eventually accepted the strawberries. Umji put it in quickly but as she did everyone was eyeing her including the teacher. This was the first time in her entire life Umji did something forbidden and it happened it was also the first time she was caught red handed and punished. 

She was deprived of dinner as a result. She was looking at the others eating marshmallow. She felt regrets. She was sitting far from the group. Suddenly a person sat beside her. It was that girl again. She didn't say anything. She was looking in front of her, like Umji. The view was just beautiful. However Umji couldn’t focus on it anymore. She was too intrigued by the mysterious girl. The latter had still the same cold expression on her face. But Umji really thought that, that was what was making her  beautiful and unique. Then the girl got closer to Umji while remaining sat. Umji didn’t even notice when the girl did that. Suddenly the girl took Umji’s hand. Umji was startled but when she looked at the girl, the latter was still looking in front of her. Umji felt something in the girl’s hand. The girl removed her hand from Umji’s one. And as Umji looked at her hand she discovered strawberries. She was very hungry so she ate them but she made sure that this time no one was looking at her. When she was done, the girl took her hand again and gave her strawberries. Umji didn’t know how much she had eaten but eventually she got full and hence happy. 

« Thank you » - Umji said shyly as she looked at that mysterious girl. 

For the first time, the girl looked at Umji in the eyes. Umji felt something very strong at that moment. It was unknown for her but it did feel good. The girl in response only had a quick little smile before she stood up and went away. 

Umji felt empty after the girl’s departure. She didn’t want her to leave but she couldn’t manage to tell her.

The next day, they had activities and Umji couldn’t focus. They had to be in pairs for the activity in the forest: a treasure hunt - of course not the typical treasure but the teacher promised a good reward. The only issue for Umji was that after her little punishment she earned a bad reputation and no one wanted to pair up with her. Umji didn’t mind because she was too busy wondering where the mysterious strawberry girl had gone. She eventually found her and the latter just gave her a sign with head meaning « let’s go ». Umji understood that she indirectly asked her to be her teammate. It was funny because she didn’t know her name but Umji couldn’t dare ask her. So she followed her silently. They walked side by side in total silence as they explore the forest without really playing the game. Umji realized in fact that the other girl didn’t care at all about the treasure hunt activity. Suddenly the girl took a pack of cigarettes out of her leather jacket pocket. She offered one to Umji and the latter hesitated as she had never smoked but she eventually reacted:

« It damages the health. » - Umji replied.

« As you want. » - The other girl replied while shrugging her shoulders and Umji found her so cool.

« Your name remains a mystery. » - Umji added more comfortable now that she finally heard the taller girl voice. 

« If you want. SinB sounds good. Good choice.» - The other girl said with the same tone. Umji was confused but she eventually nodded. 

« I am Umji if you were going to ask. » - Umji indirectly reproached her.

« I wasn’t but thanks. » - SinB replied with the same nonchalant tone. Umji thought that SinB was for sure an intriguing person - not the ordinary type. It only made Umji more curious about her even though she got slightly hurt by her response.

« Thanks for being honest that’s rare in our society.» 

« Sure I reject it. All those rules, all the routine, isn’t it better to just be our true selves? » - SinB rhetorically asked and Umji became speechless. She thought that SinB was a rebel, it turned out she had a philosophy. It was rare to meet someone who for once stick to her/his beliefs and act upon them. SinB disregarded Umji’s silence and offered her strawberries: « Those won’t damage your health » - For the first time her tone changed as she slightly joked. 

Umji chuckled while accepting: « You do love strawberries a lot. So, SinB I guess we aren’t going to find the treasure. »

« Depends on what you mean by treasure. We might have already found it. » - SinB replied and in reaction Umji suddenly blushed. However, she felt wrong: she shouldn’t read SinB’s words like that. 

SinB again disregarded Umji’s silence and suddenly took her wrist while announcing: « Let me show you something. »

Umji couldn’t help but notice the warm skin of SinB’s hand on her own. Seems like SinB wasn’t that cold after all. It was weird how Umji trusted SinB while she didn’t even know her. However Umji felt safe when she was around the latter so she easily complied without even wondering if it was wrong or rig
