Kai leaned into the counter and spoke in a low deep voice. "One of the nurses paged me for an order. Do you happen to know who?" The receptionist bit her lip and felt herself melt from his stare.

"I did." One of the nurses walked up to Kai. She opened the folder she was holding and showed him the medication chart. "This patient is currently nil by mouth for a procedure. Can we please have another order for the IV infusion?"

Taking the folder off her hand, Kai started to chart the order. While writing down the infusion, he occasionally looked up at her with a glint of misheif in his eyes. Looking back down at the order, he signed his name. "Do all the nurses in this hospital look as good as you?" Closing the folder, he returned the folder to her with a smirk. The nurse rolled her eyes at him and held up her left hand which had a ring. She then sauntered off, without sparing him another glance.

Unfazed by her reaction, he went into the office behind the receptionist counter where the doctors usually sat. Upon entering, he saw a board on the wall which had pictures of all the staff on the ward and their names. At the top of the board, there was 'doctors' written on the board, followed by countless photos of the doctors in the team. There at the end, sat his photo. Skimming through the nurses section, he skipped past the photos of the male nurses and only looked at the female nurses, *not bad*.

His eyes suddenly stopped moving and hovered on one familiar looking nurse.

*ShinAe.*

Reaching up, his fingers gently caressed the photo of ShinAe. "Guess, I'll be seeing more you sweet cheeks. " Kai whispered to himself.

Although Kai seemed composed about this new information, he was actually beyond happy.  After the break up, Kai settled into the thought that he did not miss her or need her; but the sudden encounter with her at the club ignitied his desire for her. Even with his mistakes, Kai realised he never really let go of ShinAe.

Kai was someone who relied and thrived with ego. One of the biggest ego boost for Kai was being able to win the stubborn ShinAe over and having her become his girlfriend. This did not mean that he had no feelings for her. No way. Kai was so smitted and infatuated by her. She was a breath of fresh air in a stuffy room.

Unfortunately, it did not stay like that.

Over time, Kai felt ShinAe wasn't offering enough; so he turned to seeking it from someone else. His morals initially got in the way, but his ego got the best of him and he gave into temptation. Even though Kai regretted his past action, he was too prideful to admit that he wanted her back. Instead, he would watch her slip away, and upon meeting her again, he could only utter teasing words and taunts at her.

Kai didn't want to openly admit his defeat and mistake.

ShinAe was back at work and was tiredlessly moving up and down the ward. It was her second day back, but it still had an effect on her, especially when it was Monday and Monday blues were present. ShinAe continued to persevere on. She would try to distract herself from her nagging desire to check her phone and to focus on the task at hand instead. This only lasted for a few minutes because she caved in a grabbed her phone.

Since Saturday, Jaehyun and her were messaging each other often. He would message her when she was at work on Sunday while he was at home resting. Jaehyun would rub it in and bragged about how nice it was to stay at home and do nothing. He would question her about her day and wish her a good night. He would make her stomach do flips, while simultaneously keeping the butterflies afloat and fluttering.

As if on cue, her phone vibrated on the desk and his name flashed on the screen.

Jaehyun: Wow. It feels wonderful to relax in bed.
Jaehyun: Oh, I forgot you have work. How's your shift going?

Upon seeing his message, ShinAe rolled her eyes but broke out into a grin straight after.

ShinAe: Ha ha Jaehyun. Don't remind me.
ShinAe: Work is fine.

She was about to put her phone down, but he messaged her back.

Jaehyun: Are you free after work? I want to clock in the meal you owe me. Jaehyun is hungry and only a meal from ShinAe will fill him up.
ShinAe: I am, but I finish late though.
ShinAe: 10PM. Can Jaehyun's stomach wait that long?
Jaehyun: Yes, Jaehyun's stomach can always wait for ShinAe.  I'll see you at 10. I'm excited.

ShinAe blushed when her eyes skimmed his message. Was he excited to see her or to eat? Because she was getting jittery knowing she'll see him in a few hours.

Putting her phone away, ShinAe felt her head suddenly spin. A sense of doubt and hesitation waves through her. ShinAe shut her eyes and took a deep breath in. *It's because you owe him a meal. It's not that.* ShinAe reminded herself to not get too immerse in the thought of seeing him. ShinAe's judgement was not always right; and being too occupied with him, meant she was going to have a much harder time to let go if anything happens. Fixating herself on the thought that this was nothing more than a platonic outing, ShinAe couldn't help but be disappointment about this. As much as she didn't trust her judgment; she was hopeful that she is right and he does in fact display romantic interest towards her.  Snatching her bottle from her work table, she unscrew the bottle cap and took a large gulp. Pushing her phone forward and away from her, she reached for the keyboard and started to type away.

Finishing up her progress notes for her last patient, she was about to update her handover sheet when her coworker came up to her.

"ShinAe, are you free to help me sign out some Oxycodone?" Her coworker, Heesun asked.

Standing up, ShinAe approached Heesun with a smile "Yes, I am."

Entering the drug room, Heesun started to unlock the medication safe. ShinAe opened the drug book and started to write down the patient's name.

"There's a new resident on the team." Heesun remembered the encounter from yesterday.  She handed ShinAe the Oxycodone pack for ShinAe to count.

"Really? How is he or she?" ShinAe asked in between her counting. After counting, she popped out one tablet from the foil before recounting.

"He's seems like a douche. Womaniser type. Asked him for a new fluid order and he was like 'Do all the nurses at this hospital look as good as you?'" Heesun huffed as she took the Oxycodone pack off ShinAe and recounted it again.

"Ohhhh those types. That's annoying." ShinAe slid the drug book over for Heesun to sign.

Heesun put the Oxycodone box back into the safe and locked up. She signed the book before closing it and returning it to the cupboard. "Yes, those types. Good luck to us." Heesun added before leaving the drug room with ShinAe following behind.

Meanwhile at Jaehyun's place, he had a pile of clothes growing on his bed.

With a frustrated huff, he tossed a khaki jacket onto the pile. "Be calm. Be collected. We're just eating..." Jaehyun stared at himself in the mirror. "Just us two...like a date.." He continued. Out of no where, he reached up and messed up his hair in frustration. *Why am I so nervous? It's just a meal.* Jaehyun asked himself. The moment he sent her that message, he went into panic mode. He had no issue eating with her or talking with her when they were out the other times. Then it suddenly hit him, they were with friends and only branched away. It's not like tonight, where it will be just them from the beginning to end.

Collapsing on the pile of clothes on his bed, Jaehyun groaned. Pulling his phone out of his pocket, his eyes widen seeing the screen. "9:10PM?! , I'm going to be late." Jaehyun immediately got up and rushed to get ready. He spent way too long finding out what he should wear and in the end, went with his safest option - a black tee and black jeans. He hurried into the bathroom and combed his hair back. Grabbing his wallet and keys, he rushed back into his room and grabbed a random hoodie from the gigantic pile on his bed. Without a second to spare, Jaehyun sprinted out of his apartment.

Driving on the road, he tapped on his steering wheel nervously while eyeing the clock on his dashboard every 2 minutes. Jaehyun wanted to pick her up f
