There's No Escape.
「O2」
“Junmyeoooooon~” Minseok cooed, slipping into Junmyeon’s office like a crafty cat. “I’m bored, entertain me.”
“When did you become so needy?” Junmyeon grumbled, pushing himself into a sitting position.
It had been a hectic morning in the ER due to a school bus accident and Junmyeon had just managed to find time to take a quick nap in his office when Minseok barged in unapologetically to behave like a toddler in need of attention.
Minseok kicked the door closed behind him and dived towards the sofa, forcing Junmyeon to scoot over and make space for him.
“I’ve been neglected by my best friend,” Minseok stated solemnly while pointing a finger at Junmyeon. “Because you’ve been too busy preoccupying yourself over someone else.”
“My mind will forever be filled with Aecha and you know it,” Junmyeon exhaled, sinking into the sofa.
“No no no, that’s not who I’m talking about.” Minseok shook his finger. “I guess I need to be more specific. Your heart has been preoccupied with someone else.”
Junmyeon stared blankly at Minseok, a myriad of question marks surrounding him as he failed to catch up with what Minseok was trying to say.
“Did Eunha make breakfast this morning and accidentally poison you?”
“As if I’d ever let her cook again in my kitchen,” Minseok snorted. “But since you brought her up, let’s talk about Eunha.”
“There’s nothing to talk about,” Junmyeon blurted out and immediately slapped a hand over his mouth, realising that he had responded way too fast for it to pass off as a casual comment.
“Is that so?” Minseok purred, his mouth widening in a feline smile that sent shivers down Junmyeon’s spine.
“Yes that is so.” Junmyeon coughed in an attempted to cover the slight tremble in his voice.
“I haven’t seen you guys fight in a while,” Minseok mused.
“We never fought. We just had our disagreements.”
“And what’s changed now?” Minseok asked, although from his face it was clear that he already knew the answer.
Junmyeon fidgeted in his seat, having difficulty remaining still. He tried his best to ignore Minseok’s sharp gaze but eventually gave in to the pressure and buried his face in his hands.
“Maybe she’s grown on me slightly,” Junmyeon mumbled.
Despite the response being muffled by Junmyeon’s hand, Minseok had heard him crystal clear and clenched his fists in victory. However, he was not satisfied with Junmyeon answer just yet and needed to lure more information out of the stubborn ER doctor.
“Only slightly?” Minseok raised an eyebrow, using his foot to nudge Junmyeon and urge him to say more. “You bought breakfast for her.”
“I bought breakfast for you — my best fried — and she happened to be there,” Junmyeon emphasised.
“How naive do you think I am Kim Junmyeon?” Minseok rolled his eyes. “You brought kimbap without any carrots inside, that was a dead giveaway.”
Junmyeon opened his mouth to retaliate but no sound came out. his lips, the speechless male ruffled his hair in frustration before resorting to giving Minseok a forceful push instead.
“How mature,” Minseok scoffed, swatting Junmyeon’s hand away. “Can’t even be honest about your own feelings.”
“Why are you asking me anyway?” Junmyeon frowned. “She’s got Yixing to look after her already.”
“Is that jealously I sense?” Minseok replied instead while wiggling his eyebrows.
“Shut up,” Junmyeon huffed, turning away from the male, opting for the ‘out of sight, out of mind’ methodology.
Shaking his head at Junmyeon’s childish behaviour, Minseok leaned back and stared at his feet as he contemplated out loud.
“I wouldn’t worry too much about Yixing honestly. In fact I almost feel bad for the man. He’s just barking at the wrong tree. Though I can bet Sunny is probably cheering for him; she was always a er for dimples and fancy cars. So don’t you let me down Kim Junmyeon. If you lose, it equates to me losing to Sunny.”
Blinking slowly, Junmyeon stared at Minseok in disbelief, torn between laughing at how ridiculous Minseok’s logic was or complain about his inability to treat the matter seriously. Clenching his jaw, Junmyeon abruptly stood up and charged out of his office.
“No use running away~” Minseok called out in a sing-song voice.
Junmyeon covered his ears with his hands and stormed out towards the gardens to get
