Ch 11
Since No One Else Was Gonna Do It: Uni“Are you sure they know we’re coming?” Moonbyul asked as they walked down the hallway, inching ever closer to their daughter’s apartment.
“Yup!” Came the confident answer.
“Ok, did she actually respond back or just leave you on read?”
“Uhm….”
“Yong!!”
“What? It’s fine. Besides, we're here!” Yong proudly stood before the apartment door with spare keys in hand.
Moonbyul opened to protest but the sudden yelling from the inside cut her off. Giving each other a questioning glance, Yong finally barged in, ready to fight whatever was making her daughter scream.
They just weren’t expecting this.
As soon as they had a view of the living room, they finally understood what their daughter meant when she says she always walks in on them doing weird . This was a prime example.
Wheein was currently standing on the couch, an arm across her chest to hold her open shirt closed, and waving a pillow at a cowering Hyejin.
“Say that again! I dare you!” Wheein waved the pillow threateningly.
“Wheein-ah! Babe! I’m sorry!” Hyejin avoided the deadly pillow as she tried to go in for a hug.
“No!” Wheein managed to get close enough to bop Hyejin on the head.
“Wheein-aaaah!”
Yong and Moonbyul could only stand and stare. Briefly wondering where Wheein gets this from and both concluded it was from the other. Despite the odd situation, they couldn’t help but admire Hyejin’s tenacity. Despite Wheein waving the pillow around like a deadly weapon, she stood her ground. She was going to hug Wheein hell or high water.
“Wheein-ah, I said I was sorry!!”
“You’re gonna have to say it a few more times then! One for each bite!”
Yong and Byul side eyed each other.
“Do my previous apologies count?” Hyejin asked innocently.
Wheein only glared before bopping Hyejin with the pillow again, “No!”
“But Wheein-ah!” She narrowly avoided being hit again.
“No buts! You don’t tell your girlfriend that she belongs in the itty bitty titty committee and expect to get away with it!”
It was at those words that Yong and Byul finally lost it. Byul barked out a quick laugh before having to lean against the table for support as laughter overcame her. Yong ran a hand over her face at the absurdity she just heard but even she had to let out a chuckle.
Wheein and Hyejin both froze as they heard the laughter and immediately faced the laughing adults with fear in their eyes.
“M-mom?! Mother??!” Wheein forgot all about the text. She was going to respond but when Hyejin uttered those words, all was lost. She had to defend her honour.
Hyejin just remained frozen. Briefly wondering why, and how, Wheein’s parents always barge in at the most inopportune times. At least they were laughing. No need to worry for her life. Yet.
“I thought you saw my text, Wheeinie?” Yong gathered enough sense to move past the absurd situation.
“I-I did! I just forgot to respond…..” Wheein sheepishly admitted while she got down from the couch.
“Distracted because Hyejin pointed out the obvious?”
“Mother!!” Wheein’s face began turning red.
“It’s fine Wheein. You get that from Byul anyway so someone was bound to point it out,” Yong said with a smile.
“Hahaha ye--Wait,” Byul’s laughing face immediately fell as she fully comprehended Yong’s words. And those were fighting words.
“Yong!!” Byul slapped Yong’s arm with a huff.
“What? It’s true. You’re also a part of the itty bitty titty committee,” Yong said with a loving smile to her wife.
“See, Wheein-ah,” Hyejin finally spoke, “It’s hereditary.”
Wheein and Byul exchanged glances before they both took in a deep breath.
“Wheein, pass me a pillow,” Byul said as she stretched an arm out to catch the pillow that immediately flew over to her.
“Byul, wh--” Yong was cut off as Byul bopped the top of Yong’s head with the pillow.
.
Yong just stared at Byul with bewilderment. It only took the second bop for Yong to finally begin to dodge. But that didn’t stop Byul’s advance.
“Huh, this seems familiar…” Hyejin mused just briefly before she was hit with another pillow.
“Ack! The fu--” Hyejin turned to face Wheein but didn’t expect her to be so close. Dangerously close. Close enough that they only need to whisper in order to be heard clearly. A situation that Wheein took advantage of.
“You better apologise to them more later, Hyejin-ah.”
Hyejin didn’t miss the glint in Wheein’s eye, so she knew exactly how to apologise later.
A smirk quickly found its way onto Hyejin’s face, and opened as if she was going to say more but took advantage of Wheein’s distraction. She quickly swiped the pillow out of Wheein’s hand and retreated to where Yong was, grabbing another pillow in the process.
It soon became clear that this was a tag team battle. Original plans be damned.
