"The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies."

Euna never imagined that her torn heart could still break. It was torn into little pieces, like it was nothing.

Foreword

Inside a spacious room, a pompous old man was sitting on a huge throne at the end of the hall, his thin fingers his long white beard as he stared impatiently at the door from the distance. Beside him, was a woman standing confidently with an elegant hanbok hugging her slender figure made with bright colors that compliments her soft and pale skin. The only source of light in the dark hall was the moonlight passing through the windows.

As the guard outside open the double wooden door with a slight creak, silhouettes of men entered the hall, all of them emitting a strong and dark aura creating tension in the air. The clacking from their steps resonates across the whole room, giving fear to anyone who hears it as it echoes through their ears. When the group of men stopped in front of the old man slouched on his throne, they formed a horizontal line; their eyes void of emotion shifted quickly towards the beautiful lady.

The old man let out an exaggerated laughter before speaking with a hoarse voice, " Ah, finally. All of you are here," he calmed himself down and continued, " Can't believe that the infamous and feared wolves of the Flower country is in front of me! It's an honor to meet all of you."

One of the men clad in a fitted black robes, like everyone else in the line, took one step forward, " Sorry for being disrespectful. But I believe that you'll waste our time if you will continue on blabbering nonsense. So, just give us your request or we will leave," he threatened.

The old man laughed again and clasped both of his hands filled with blotches, " Oh, don't worry. Let's get to business," he motioned the lady beside him to speak up, " My daughter will explain everything to you."

" Good evening, gentlemen, " she said monotously and continued, " What my father wanted was very simple. Assasinate the king's sister before the month ends," this time, her voice wavered a little bit, but her posture was still regal and composed.

After the woman stated their mission, the assassin who fronted the line tilted his head to his right and stared at the woman with his eyes flared with curiosity. They've heard of the royal family's several issues among their clan, but the king having a secret sister was not one of them. Even the whole country  believes that he's the only child of the late king.

The old man smiled after noticing their reaction, " Continue, my dear."

The woman nodded at her father and continued again, " As of now, the princess is in hiding. We have no information anything about her, even her name and location. If you failed, the deal is broken," the woman said flatly, as if she had said these words for several times.

" The royal family is involved..... that will be hard. What benefits can we get from you?" the assassin asked, his gaze still lingering towards the lady.

" Don't worry. We can give you money! A big amount of money!" said the old man while flailing his arms as if he's throwing golden coins at the men in front of him.

The assassin guffawed, his cold voice echoing across the hall, sounding like a demon laughing at his prey, "Our target is from the royal family, and yet, you think that money is enough?"

The old man smiled while maintaining the eye contact with the assassin, his chin elevated and said, " How about the hand of my daughter?"

His daughter glanced at his father, her confident demeanor changing into a confused one. She was about to disagree but her father glared at her, stopping her from saying anything. She took one step backwards and pursed her lips in disbelief. Now, she knew the reason why her father brought her here.

" Ah....you're beautiful daughter as the prize. Now that's interesting, "

" So? Are you agreeing now? " asked the old man.

Seconds had passed, but the group of paid killers didn't give him an answer, leaving the old man baffled and waiting. Without a warning, all of them ran outside the hall, this time, without a sound as they disappeared into the cold night. But one of them was left at the open entrance, his back arched and head held high in the air. The man looked back at the confused elderly male with the moonlight illuminating his sharp features that could enchant every woman if not for his deadly cold stares.

" Make sure that you won't break this deal," said the man before disappearing, sending shiver down the spine of the scared woman.
