Foreword

The town from the outside seemed normal. The people were normal, only they weren't. This small little town was filled with "weird" happenings. First of all, the night time was never normal. Things did come crawling out at night. If a full moon was out, the people knew not to go out ... unless you were one of them. Things going bump in the night was not just a saying. One thing was certain, always stick with the right crowd when moving into town.

That was where a very human, Kim Yerim, had recently moved to. A town in Jeollanam-do County, away from the city—far away. She stepped out of her parent's car, her younger sisters running past her with playful giggles. The fresh air already reaching her and seeing how close they were to the national park, she understood why. A beautiful place to live in, in the southern west side of South Korea. When her parents first told her, they were moving due to her father getting a job somewhere else, she didn't like it. The last thing she wanted to do was leave her friends behind. Leave her boyfriend behind. She had a life in Seoul, a life she didn't want to trade for anything else. Good grades, great friends, a caring and loving boyfriend. Nothing could go wrong with her life. It was perfect.

But as the months got closer, the more she realized the true colors of her friends. The jealous ones were happy she was leaving. Some of them already acted like she had moved as they ignored her existence and her "loving" boyfriend, broke up with her because "I can't do long distance relationships, Yeri. I can't be tied to someone out there when there could be someone right here."

He gave up on them too soon and she was wishing the day of the move came closer. She was done with her fake life in Seoul. She was ready for a brand-new start and this new town and people, was exactly that brand new start she craved.

She smiled, taking in a deep breath of the nature that the city could not give her—not realizing her scent was being picked up from miles away the longer she stayed outside and lingered in the fresh air. She didn't mind though; the wind was nice. It was fresh, it made her feel refreshed and full of hopes and dreams that she could accomplish. Her smile not faltering as she stood there.

"Yerim dear, come inside and start unpacking. You need to go to school tomorrow."

"Coming," she yelled back with a smile as she felt the wind pick up around her once more.

It'll be good here. I can feel it. Like something inside of is telling me, it'll be good here.

Yerim walked to her home, a pretty big and nice home. She turned to the neighboring houses and caught sight of a young woman that did not look that much older than her. She was standing in her front yard, almost glowing as she closed her eyes and mouthed something with her arms out to the side, palms facing upward. They were neighbors but not close enough for her to hear or really see what the was happening. The woman turned, looking right at her before spinning and running inside the home. The only odd thing was that she was wearing a black and white haltered dress with a black veil over her long black hair and laced black gloves that went to her elbows, her lips red. She looked too dressed up—too out of the ordinary but soon she was going to realize—she may be the only thing considered "ordinary" with the people she would soon associate with.

a/n: this is by no means the most creative and unique story out there. as you can see, the themes are pretty cliche but i'm putting my own twist in them, adding a few things here and there. this story will develope with going back and forth between past and present era's. they'll be a chapter dedicated to every one character to learn more of their backstory. each chapter may be centered in one or three different character POV's. if that is not your cup of tea, then i'm sorry. i usually write with about three different POV's in a storyline. if i want to write a book; well i'd obviously be doing a different kind of format but i'm not. i'm writing for fun and only sticking to one POV gives me anxiety ... it just does.
