“Did you see Hyewon and Tzuyu earlier? I heard they’re dating now?”

Minjoo couldn’t help but overhear (not really) the girls talking near her locker. She also couldn’t help but feel a little bit frustrated. She’s been dating Hyewon for a little over a year now, but they were never the type to show it publicly.

It also doesn’t help that her girlfriend was one of the most outgoing girls in school.

Hyewon knows almost everyone in their year and those below them. Minjoo doesn’t understand how a person can be as friendly as she is.

Minjoo is more of a shy person compared to her girlfriend. She isn’t the type to approach someone first, unless she needs to at least. Even after she’s approached by others, she is still a bit shy.

She only starts to loosen up after getting to know a person more.

It also doesn’t help Hyewon is always rumoured to be dating everyone she’s close with. She gets why there are such rumours though. The older girl is very clingy with everyone. 

Sure she’s different with Minjoo, but it doesn’t help the younger girl’s sanity.

Minjoo trusts Hyewon. But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t get hurt when their colleagues believe the rumours flying around. And she can’t do anything about it.

She doesn’t know if Hyewon would be okay if she told them the truth. They never really talked about it. Every time Yena and Yujin would ask them the same thing, Hyewon wouldn’t answer. And being the younger one, Minjoo just follows the lead of Hyewon.

“Hyewon-ah”

The said girl turned to Tzuyu, “yeah?”

“Don’t you think you should at least deny rumours flying around about you?”

“What do you mean?”

Tzuyu looked at her friend like she’s stupid (in this case, she is), “I mean about all the rumours about you dating everyone. Except your actual girlfriend.”

Hyewon kept mum, she didn’t know what to say. 

“What do you think Minjoo feels?”

The shorter girl stared at the project they were doing in front of her, “I don’t know.”

Tzuyu sighed and patted her friend’s shoulder, “at least try to be in her shoes. I don’t know what she’s feeling every time she hears someone talk about you dating someone else, but I’m sure she doesn’t feel too good about that.”

Hyewon looked at her friend before dropping her head on the table.

The two were quiet for a bit and just focused on their project since they need to hurry and finish it up.

“Did you hear?”

“What?”

“I heard Eric was planning to ask Minjoo out!”

This made Hyewon and Tzuyu look at the students who were talking. The latter looked at Hyewon worriedly, “I guess you don’t need to imagine being in her place now, huh?”

Hyewon looked at her friend without noticing her hand was clasping her pen.

Minjoo was doing her homework at her desk in her room when she received a message from Hyewon, “hey. I’m at your front door.”

This made Minjoo scramble up, she made sure to be presentable before going down to open the door for her girlfriend. She didn’t expect Hyewon to come to her house at this hour, they didn’t really plan anything for today.

“Unnie?”

“Hey!”

Minjoo let the older girl in and went to the kitchen to fix hot chocolate for her, “what are you doing here?”

Hyewon didn’t look at the younger girl and just stared at her hands that were on her lap, “unnie?”

“Ah! Nothing, just wanted to come by. We didn’t really get to hang out at school earlier.”

Minjoo bit her lip to stop herself from talking and just nodded her head. Hyewon noticed this and accept the mug she was offered.

The couple was silent for a while, “do you want to head upstairs? Mum and dad might come down any moment.”

Hyewon only nodded her head and the two headed up to the younger’s room.

When they arrived, Minjoo went straight to her desk while Hyewon put down her mug on the side table and sat on the younger’s bed.

She just stared at her girlfriend who resumed doing her homework, “are you mad at me?”

This caused Minjoo to stop writing but she didn’t look at the older girl, “I’m not, why would you think that?”

“Well first of all you’re ignoring me?”

“I’m not, I’m finishing my homework. It’s due tomorrow so I don’t have time.”

Hyewon nodded at the girl, but she could hear the frustration in Minjoo’s voice. So she decided to keep quiet until the younger girl finished her homework.

“Why exactly are you here? I doubt you came here to just stare at me doing my homework.”

Hyewon didn’t notice the girl was already finished and was now looking at her. Now that she got a good look, she saw Minjoo was stressed. Her eyes didn’t have the usual shine it has.

“Are you okay?”

“Fine, just tired.”

It also wasn’t like Minjoo to have short responses. Usually she would tell Hyewon everything that happened for the day.

“It’s getting late, did you need anything?”

Minjoo stood up and started fixing her things for school tomorrow.

“I— are we okay?”

Minjoo stopped everything she was doing and sighed, “I don’t know. Are we?”

This time, Minjoo stared straight into Hyewon’s eyes.

Hyewon didn’t break eye contact and swallowed, “I’m sorry.”

This surprised Minjoo, she never expected the older girl to say sorry out of the blue.

“Huh?”

“Tomorrow, I’ll deny all rumours and tell them I’m dating you.”

“I— unnie-“

Hyewon chuckled darkly and cut their eye contact, “Tzuyu talked to me earlier. She said to put myself in your shoes. What if I hear a rumour about you dating someone else? How would I feel?

“Then there were kids talking about you and how Eric was planning to ask you out for a date. I thought I saw red, Min. I hated hearing about it. I hated even thinking about it. And yet, I let you experience that.

“I’m sorry for putting you through that. So, if you want to, I’ll tell everyone we’re dating. Tomorrow. At school.”

Minjoo stared at the older girl in surprise but Hyewon still refused to look at her. She didn’t say anything for a while which worried the shorter girl, “I— if you don’t want that though, then I won’t do it! I won’t do anything that’ll give you discomfort, you know that right?”

Hyewon finally looked up to the younger girl and saw she was staring at her blankly. She stood up and scratched the back of her head, “you should think about it tonight, just tell me your decision tomorrow morning.”

She started to head towards the door to head home but Minjoo stopped her by grabbing onto her arm.

“Minjoo—“

Hyewon’s question never left her lips because Minjoo’s own lips stopped her.

She was too surprised to react to the younger girl, “I love you.”

Hi~ I’m back!!!! Sorry it took a while before uploading a new story here. I really couldn’t think of anything to write for a few days plus the fact I was really busy with work.
