Chapter 17

Baekhyun was in the most spacious office at the very top of the new company building. His father had purchased it over the last few days, and Baekhyun had been busy completing the deal. As he was placing his belongings in the office, he was on a video call with his father.

Baekhyun pouted, “This office is too big, dad. This should be yours.” His father smiled, “You’re going to be the CEO soon, so of course you need a good office. Isn’t the view nice?” The boy glanced down at the streets filled with pedestrians and advertisement billboards. He grinned in response, “It is. You would’ve loved it in here.”

Mr. Byun chuckled and checked his watch before saying, “I have to call Mr. Kim now to finalize some things. I’ll talk to you later, son.” Baekhyun nodded and waved as the call ended. Baekhyun sighed and took out a stack of books, placing them on the bookshelf along the wall. He placed two picture frames on his new desk: one of his family, and the other of himself and Hana that they had taken at the amusement park last weekend.

He smiled as he ran his thumb across her face in the picture. A knock came on the door, and he answered, “Come in.” The glass doors of his office opened and the secretary at the front desk entered. She held out a plastic bag with a note, “Hana came by and dropped this off for you.”

Baekhyun curiously took it and thanked the secretary, who scurried away. He opened the note first and smiled at the pretty handwriting: Hope you’re loving your new office! Have some lunch. I made them myself! With a large grin on his face, he placed the bag onto his desk and opened the containers one-by-one. His jaw dropped at the plethora of delectable dishes before him. She knows how to cook, too? How much more perfect can she get?

Mr. Kim came into the room and blinked at the boy’s awed face, “Am I intruding on something?”

Baekhyun snapped out of his daze and sheepishly smiled, “Not at all. Have you eaten lunch yet, Mr. Kim?”

Within minutes, both Baekhyun and Mr. Kim were eating the delicious dishes that Hana prepared. Baekhyun sighed in content as he popped a dumpling into his mouth. Mr. Kim took a bite of the noodles and smiled at Baekhyun’s smitten expression, “Hana’s a great cook, isn’t she?” He nodded fervently, “She’s amazing! It tastes better than a restaurant, honestly.”

Mr. Kim laughed, “How are things going with her?” Baekhyun grinned, “I think it’s going great.”

Hana skipped out of Baekhyun’s company building and began walking towards her car. She received a call from her father and answered, “Hello?”

“Where are you? Our meeting is in an hour, honey.” Mr. Park lightly scolded, “I was looking for you but the secretary said you stepped out.”

Hana winced, “I’m on the way back now. I’ll be back in ten minutes!”

Mr. Park suspiciously asked, “Where did you go? Did you go see that Baekhyun?” Hana rolled her eyes, “I didn’t technically see him.”

“Uh-huh,” Mr. Park teased, “Get back here quickly, okay?”

Hana chuckled as the call ended and buckled her seatbelt, speeding away towards her own company’s building. Upon arriving, she stepped out of her car and entered the elevator of the building while checking the message she just received.

Baekhyun [12:47]: Thank you for lunch, it tasted amazing! Have a good day. <3

Hana squealed at the cute message and put a palm against her pink cheek. Suddenly, the door to the elevator opened and one of her father’s employees stepped inside. He blinked at her frazzled state in surprise as he entered. Hana cleared and straightened up, bowing to the man. He chuckled, “Did you get a message from your boyfriend or something?”

Hana awkwardly rubbed the back of her neck and looked away as the man chuckled. Please bury me alive.

After signing her last document, Hana called Baekhyun while reading over her proposal. The boy answered immediately, “Hi, cutie.” Hana grinned at the endearing nickname and replied, “Hi, handsome. Are you busy right now?”
