Description

As soon as you think you need a Magic Shop, you'll see the door. Everything you're looking for is here. I'll show you.

I trudge down the alley lazily, eyes locked to the ground. It's grey. Everything is. The ground, indeed, but also the houses, the sky, my life. It's painted in that bland color and void of any interest. In fact, I'm not interested in anything anymore. I, too, am grey and empty.

The asphalt goes by slowly as my feet come in and leave my sight. Eventually, the usual meowing echoes and the plastic bag on my wrist stops swaying when I come to an halt. A small smile stretches my lips. This is the only moment I'm looking forward to every day.

“Hey, buddy,” I greet the calico cat and squat down to pet the fluffy animal. It rubs itself against my leg with another meow. “Yes, yes, it's coming,” I chuckle, grabbing a box of cat food in the bag.

I'm about to pull the cap off when I feel an insistent gaze on me. I freeze and immediately check my right, my left and my back, relieved to find the alley still completely empty saved for me and the cat.

I drift my eyes to the animal, finally opening the food it must have been waiting with impatience, “Here you g-”

Brown irises are the first things I meet, an insistent gaze is the second thing I notice. It's staring. Sitting calmly, the cat stares at me with a keen interest I can't quite understand. My eyes widen slightly and a few seconds of quiet immobility pass.

“O... Alright.” Once the surprise of this unique behavior fades, I shake my head to regain my composure and stand up briskly. “You know what, buddy. Let's go home together.”

Strangely on cue, the cat pushs its off the ground and jogs in the exact direction my apartment is. I stagger behind, watching the little body bounce without a sound every time a paw touches the asphalt.

Many times, I wonder why I decided to take this strange cat in. Particularly when it seems to observe me for one, or two, hours straight. At first, I found it disturbing. As time flowed, I learned to know the small creature and discovered it was the sweetest thing I ever met. Hence, its behavior soon became fascinating. I don't know what could be going on in this little head. I'm extremly curious but I know I will never have answers. So I named the cat Sinbi- mystery.

Little did I know, that the most mysterious thing Sinbi will do was still to come.

On a day the bottom of the abyss feels very close, I sit on my bed, head buried between my arms and forehead pressed to my knees. My hands grip firmly on my hair as muffled whimpers cover the sound of the rain. Sinbi jumps on the bed with a quiet thump and puts his warm paws on me. I look up instictively, my blurred vision barely allowing me to see the calico cat's face correctly. Still, I notice it right away. The rolled brownish paper Sinbi has dropped next to me.

He pushs it closer with his nose and glances up at me expectantly. I don't even question the situation; my mind is too chaotic to think properly. I just wipe my eyes and unfold the paper, discovering a perplexing letter.

Foreword

Welcome, you

The Magic Shop will open soon.

Started: January 23, 2020

Completed: April 25, 2021

Hello, dear readers. How are you? I'm personally very happy and excited to be back with this new project!

Magic Shop will be a story about issues every person could face and how the main character tries to overcome them. My main source of inspiration was my own life, the life of people around me or even people that I don't know but heard of. I think all the things I've watched (movies, dramas, animes, series) and read (fictions, webtoon, books, manga) also helped a lot. Some elements were modified or romanticized for the sake of the story but the bases of the issues are real. Note: the characters are just inspired by the real BTS members.

You might have noticed in the description that this story will be written in the first person, present tense. I know it's uncommon and might surprise some (which is why I'm adressing it) but I think this is the best narrative for this story because: 1, it will allow me to try to create a more realistic experience for you, dear readers, and 2, it will allow you, still dear readers, to be pulled into the character and better enjoy the experience (I'll do my best to make it good!). But to be very honest, I'm not used to it myself. I did researches and tried my best to avoid mistakes but, well, nothing is perfect. Plus, English is not my first language in case you didn't know! Your dear, favorite (or soon-to-be) author is French.

The organization plan of Magic Shop is also rather peculiar: the story will be separated in arcs (yes, like animes) and the chapters in the arcs will be broken down in an average of three parts (sometimes more, sometimes less). That means the updates will be quite short. But it also means that it'll be faster to write the parts and to update frequently.

This story is quite personal and precious to me. I won't be presumptuous and say I hope it makes you feel better. I just want to share and be together. Charlie Chaplin said, “We think too much and feel too little”. Now is the time to feel. Let's enter the Magic Shop and see what it has in store for us.

Chapter 20: Hello, and I'm back lol. Just finished reading your two updates!
Good thing that Seomin quit the job at the store and for standing up for herself at last. I know Jimin will take really good care of her. It was also nice to know that her doctors were once patients themselves, ah I'm curious about their story as well. As always, I like the flow of your story, so don't feel rushed. Take your time because you're doing great!
