Seo Min’s dad stands in front of the mail box, staring at his daughter's name on a letter. He strides to the house and calls for his wife as he enters, “There’s a letter from Seo Min!” “From Seo Min?” repeats the woman. “Why? What is she saying?” Her husband enters the living room, slightly short of breath, “I haven’t opened it yet,” As he says that, the man rips the envelope open and unfolds the paper. “Mom, Dad, I’m sorry for not giving news earlier. After our argument, I didn’t know how to approach you and once back in Seoul I got busy… Right now, I work as an intern at a clinic called Magic Shop. I also want to start taking evening classes in psychology next semester to get a diploma. It might not be what you wanted but that’s what I actually want to do. Until now, I only followed your lead and did everything you wanted me to do and I became how you wanted me to be. Now, you have to learn to know me and my projects. People change everyday, even I have to learn about myself again everyday, so don’t be surprised by this “sudden” change. I’m just being myself. I hope you will accept me. I love you. Your daughter, Seo Min.” Silence follows. “Were we too harsh on her?” eventually asks Seo Min’s dad, voice coming out as a whisper. “I don’t know,” sighs her mom. “First, I guess we should do as she says. Just accept her as she is and what she wants to do.” The man nods, “You’re right. Beating ourselves up won’t lead us anywhere, our daughter needs us.” “Yes... Can you give me my computer, I have something to look up.” “They must have received the letter today,” I think as I stand in front of the mirror, drying my hair with a towel. “There’s no news though…” I sigh and throw the piece of fabric to my bed. I grab the brush on the desk, mumbling, “Maybe I was wrong to expect anything.” At that exact moment, the ping of my phone fills the quiet room. I run to the device laying on the nightstand and check what the screen has to say. “I
