Festival
Once Was BeforeThere wasn't much changes ever since then. Just Minhyun steadily getting busier again like sports day to the point where it would be a drag to meet up. Baekho got a new phone courtesy to his mother who had just left it on the living room table for him with a note that said 'for Baekho.'. He knew this was how they showed their affection. By showering him with gifts and money but he knew this wasn't what he wanted despite probably having a more carefree private life than others. The first person he texted once he had set up his new number was Minhyun, relieved that they had some form of communication again when they were apart.
'Guess who is back in business!'
It took awhile but Minhyun finally replied him too.
'My boyfriend is in some kind of business? How come I never knew about this?'
Baekho smiled from the joking response. He didn't want to disturb Minhyun so he tried not to be too clingy through text while distracting himself with homework or TV. At some point, he had texted Jonghyun as well to see how the other was faring ever since the incident.
'Hey, Jonghyun. Dongho here. I finally got a new phone. Just texting to see how have you been doing since that day.'
'Hey, Dongho. Everything has been chill here. No sign of any of those guys either. It's like they all just disappeared. Kind of scary if you think about it. What about you guys? Is he still harassing you?'
'No. Things have been quiet too. Say, my school is having our festival soon. Do you want to drop by on that day?'
'Sure if I'm free.'
'Great. If you can't come over, I'll just hop on a train and meet you instead. Since my boyfriend is going to be busy during the festival.'
'He is the student president after all.'
Baekho checked the date for the festival and gasped softly. He hadn't realise it fell exactly on the same day as his birthday until now. As much as he wanted to spend the day with Minhyun, the other had already made it quite clear that he was going to be busy. Baekho wondered if he should tell Minhyun about his birthday or did the other know about it? He stared at his phone and grumbled when he felt like he really couldn't detach himself from Minhyun anymore.
'Min?'
'Yeah?'
'What time will you be free after the festival?'
'That's hard to say. Probably around 6 depending on how efficient everyone is at clearing up too.'
'Oh okay...'
'Something on your mind?'
'No. Just checking.'
'Okay.'
Baekho's conclusion was no, his boyfriend didn't know about his birthday. He decided that he was going to hang out with Jonghyun instead now that he knew it was his birthday and he would rather not spend it in school where everyone would be busy and he would feel isolated especially with Minhyun being busy too. He texted Jonghyun that he would head over to find him instead and Jonghyun accepted the invitation.
After that day, Baekho would text Jonghyun more frequently just to catch up with the other and rebuilding their friendship. He still texted and hung out with Minhyun but it was a rare occasion since his boyfriend's duties took priority which Baekho didn't mind. Minhyun was busy and he didn't want to be a distraction either but that didn't mean Minhyun hadn't notice Baekho's tiny smiles towards his phone even when they were in the student council room after school or how Baekho started talking to him less. It made the taller male confused and frankly, there was a bitter feeling in his gut. He wanted to ask Baekho about it but opted not to do so. Minhyun had also stopped using the wheelchair so there was no need for Baekho to constantly fuss over him either.
"What are you looking at?" Minhyun had blurted out once when he caught Baekho grinning at his phone while trying to hide it behind his hand. Baekho glanced at Minhyun and shook his head.
"Just a puppy picture that Jonghyun sent to me."
"Jonghyun?"
"Yeah. My old schoolmate? The guy who was with us the other time?"
"I know who he is."
Baekho nodded and went back to replying Jonghyun. Minhyun clenched his fist and decided not to say anything. As long as Baekho was happy, he should be contented... Right?

The festival was right around the corner and Minhyun was feeling rather antsy. He knew he had been busy. Way too busy in fact that he ended up being distant from Baekho despite recent events. He was silently regretting it, of course because Baekho's attention seemed to be snatched away in that moment of ignorance. His hand hovered over his phone screen as he contemplated calling his boyfriend just to chat with him before he drown himself with work the next day. He also felt like he was forgetting something but co
