the best night of her life

the best remedy

The lights were blinding and the music was deafening; just what Sana needed to forget about the unbearable pain in her heart for the night.

Saturday nights were party nights; they had always been.

Or at least, that was her life before she met Jihyo.

She shook her head and swallowed her tequila. Jihyo had broken her heart, she shouldn't be thinking about her right now.

After all, her once girlfriend was probably enjoying her night with her new girlfriend; so why should Sana waste her time wondering about her?

She called the bartender and asked for another drink; tonight, she wasn't going to hold back.

She didn't care if it was her fifth drink, or if she didn't hold her liquor that well.

When the bartender finally handed her the shot of tequila she had asked for, she gulped it down quickly, paid for it and then got on her feet.

The dance floor was crowded, but Sana didn't mind.

As soon as she started dancing and the music filled her ears, all the people around her vanished.

It was almost as if the world had stopped moving and nothing mattered anymore.

As she swinged her hips to the rhythm of the song playing inside the cozy club, she stopped caring about everything and everyone.

It was almost as if Jihyo cheating on her and leaving her for her college roommate didn't hurt her anymore.

After weeks of crying herself to sleep and not finding the strength to wake up in the morning, feeling like her life had no meaning whatsoever, Sana finally felt alive again.

She was free; nothing mattered anymore.

The lights were blinding and the music was deafening, but Sana never felt so full of life.

And as the songs changed, she felt her excitement building up; deep down, she knew it was the effect of the alcohol slowly taking over her senses, but why would she care?

As long as she was dancing, keeping her eyes closed and letting the upbeat tunes played by the DJ guide her movements, she was just fine.

She only opened her eyes when she felt her back softly touching someone else's. She didn't turn around; instead, she kept dancing as she took a quick look to who was behind her.

Her features turned into a subtle smirk when she saw it was a girl, and she was terribly beautiful. Hell, she was stunning.

As the music changed to a slower, sensual song, Sana did not move away from the stranger's body.

Their backs were still touching as Sana danced sensually to the music; her body still attached to the stranger's.

However, the girl didn't move away from her; on the contrary, she started following her rhythm: they were now dancing back to back.

And boy, was it a sight to behold.

Sana couldn't help but smile a little; she felt like she was doing something crazy, but she liked it anyway, and from the way the stranger was reacting from her sudden, short touches, she could tell the other girl was enjoying herself as well.

It took the song to change a few times — four times, she counted them — before Sana felt someone tapping on her shoulder, only then noticing the absence of the stranger's warmth against her back.

She swirled around, still moving lightly her body to the music and she was left astonished when her eyes laid on the beauty standing in front of her, smirking mischievously.

"Do you always dance so close to other people?"

Sana didn't answer at first; she was too caught up in replaying over and over the stranger's sensual voice in her mind.

It was kind of hypnotising, she thought.

When the stranger raised an eyebrow at her, Sana came back to her senses, laughing a little before locking eyes with her.

"And what if I do? You didn't seem to mind it that much anyway."

The black-haired stranger smiled amusedly at her and this time Sana was the one to raise an inquiring eyebrow at her.

"What? Did I say something funny?"

The other girl quickly shook her head, returning serious all of a sudden.

"You're right. I didn't mind it much; I really loved it."

A blush crept its way on Sana's cheeks and, by the way the other girl was now smirking confidently at her, Sana knew the stranger had noticed.

"So? If you loved it that much, then you shouldn't have stopped me. Or were you becoming too flustered?"

The question took the stranger by surprise, Sana could tell; however, when the girl started biting her lower lip, Sana couldn't help but be the one flustered.

What was this girl doing to her?

"I was."

The honesty in which the girl spoke was new to Sana, and, although she was quite shocked to hear her answer, she couldn't deny that she thought it was hot.

Honesty.

"Then, should we get you a drink to make you cool off a bit?"

The stranger laughed before nodding her head.

Sana was still trying to understand where all her confidence came from when she suddenly felt the other girl tugging at her hand before taking it in hers and leading her out of the dance floor.

Her hands were warm; sure, they were a bit sweaty as well, but Sana couldn't care less.

She let the girl lead her; however, she couldn't hide her surprise when she found herself standing outside the club instead of the bar.

"Why are we outside?"

The stranger girl didn't seem to be fazed by Sana's confusion; instead she smiled sweetly at her.

"I thought we could go get that drink somewhere else?"

How was Sana supposed to say no to that smile?

She simply nodded her head, returning the smile.

"Before we go, shouldn't I at least know your name?"

The stranger laughed at her question, shaking her head.

Her eyes were glistening under the light of the moon.

"You're right; I'm Momo."

Sana's smile reached her ears.

"I'm Sana."

They shook hands while they kept staring in each other's eyes.

There was something so intimate in the way the stranger was looking at her, and Sana found herself feeling flustered under Momo's stare; it was as if the girl had a power on her no one had ever had.

She didn't know why, but as Momo kept holding her hand, she thought her touch felt familiar.

Did they meet before?

Was it destiny?

They kept staring into each other's eyes, their hands intertwined, while none of them dared to say anything.

They were surrounded by people talking among each other, smoking and drinking, but to Sana, it was like they didn't exist.

She tuned them all out.

There were only Momo and her, engulfed by a comforting silence.

And to her, it was more than enough.

As Momo's eyes flickered to her lips, Sana felt herself blush and chuckled; again, what was she doing to her?

"Should we go?"

The other girl was still staring at her lips when she nodded her head, and without letting go of her hand, she started moving, Sana following after her.

"Where are you even bringing me? Should I be worried?"

Sana's tone was playful and Momo decided to play along, smiling brightly at her.

"You know what they say; you should never trust pretty girls."

Sana bit her lip unconsciously.

"Are you complimenting yourself now? Quite narcissistic, don't you think?"

As the other girl erupted in a fit of giggles, Sana couldn't help but think how beautiful she looked when she laughed.

So carefree.

"Again, you're right," Momo was able to say between her giggles, stealing a glance at Sana. "Then, how about you tell me, uh? Do you think I'm pretty?"

As Momo stopped walking, Sana felt her tug at her hand, finding herself face to face with the other girl, short breath and flushed cheeks.

She was looking at her intently, waiting for an answer she could already anticipate; Sana, on the other hand, was freaking out.

Did she think Momo was pretty?

Hell, she thought she was the most beautiful girl she had ever seen; pretty was an understatement.

And Sana was about to tell her that; however, seeing the teasing glint in her eyes, she changed her mind.

Two could play this game.

She smirked mischievously before smacking her lips and acting all innocent, the sudden change in attitude making Momo suddenly curious as to what her furrowed eyebrows suggested.

Sana leaned her face closer to her ear, gracing it with her lips on purpose, before talking slowly and lowly.

"Wouldn't you like to know?"

After that everything went fast; before Momo could even answer, Sana detached her hand from hers and started running away, turning around to challenge the other girl to catch her.

In only a matter of seconds, the two were running in the streets of Los Angels aimlessly; a grin plastered on their faces and the feeling of freedom taking over them.

Soon, Momo caught up to her, but they didn't stop running; instead, they kept going side to side, stealing glances at one another to then end up laughing together.

Sana had never felt so good.

Only when breathing became harder, they stopped, collapsing on the ground without a care in the world.

They turned to look at each other; their eyes instantly met and they ended up laughing even more.

As they laughed, their hands intertwined naturally, as if they belonged together.

And Sana couldn't help, but feel like this was living.

They were still trying desperately to regain their breaths when Momo spoke, making Sana smile more than she already was.

"I guess some water wouldn't be too bad right now."

Sana couldn't keep the laughter in, turning on her side to look at her better; Momo did the same right after.

"You think so? Before that, we need to find the strength to stand up."

Momo closed her eyes as she inhaled deeply.

"You go first."

Sana widened her eyes, pushing Momo lightly on the shoulder with her free hand.

"Why do I have to go first?"

Eyes still closed, Momo smiled, making Sana's breath get caught in .

"You started running first."

Sana huffed as she let go of Momo's hand, instantly missing its warmth.

When she stood up, she saw Momo opening her eyes and giving her a triumphant smile; she rolled her eyes before offering her hand to help her, the girl taking it gladly.

Now, they were standing closely, and Sana could feel Momo's breath on her skin, giving her goosebumps.

"Are we still on for that drink?" Sana asked her, not moving away from her.

However, Momo shook her head in seriousness, making Sana suddenly confused.

"First, you need to answer my question," Momo stated in a firm voice, making Sana raise an eyebrow.

"Do you think I'm pretty?"

Sana gulped; so she did remember about it.

She studied Momo carefully; her hair was a mess because of their running, and there were still some drips of sweat on her forehead.

Her lips were slightly parted so that she could breathe better.

Sana thought she was perfect, and now it was the best moment to tell her so, but she did not.

She didn't tell her she thought she was perfect.

She didn't answer her at all.

Instead she leaned in, intertwining her hands behind Momo's neck, and she kissed her gently under the light of the moon and the stars.

Momo's lips were soft and it took the girl awhile to understand what was happening; nevertheless, as soon as she did, she started kissing her back and Sana swore kissing never felt so good.

"Is that a yes?" Momo asked jokingly, resting her forehead against Sana's, the gesture making the other girl smile happily.

"Yes."

Momo's features turned into a grin and Sana felt her legs getting weaker.

She wished they could stay like that forever.

"Now, we can totally go take that drink."

As Sana pushed Momo slightly on the shoulder, the girl gripped her arm to bring her closer to her, leaving a delicate kiss on her left cheek, while her thumb caressed her right one.

It was innocent, and Sana loved they way it made her feel.

Intertwining their hands once again, they started moving in search of a pub where they could get something to drink, stealing glances at each other and smiling like two teens in love.

However, they ended up changing their minds when they found one and realised it was too crowded.

They wanted to be alone; just the two of them in the quietness of the night.

That's why they were now in Sana's hotel room, ordering food and drinks from the room service, carelessly.

As Sana was ordering on the phone, Momo kept poking her, grinning like a little kid; Sana thought it was adorable.

And when the food arrived, Sana tried to start a small food fight, but she was instantly stopped by Momo who affirmed in all seriousness that food was not to be wasted like that.

Sana ended up drinking everything, while Momo finished all the food.

As they stared at the three now empty trays, Momo smiled proudly.

"See? We're a good team."

Sana smiled back, her eyes lingering on some sauce hanging from Momo's upper lip.

"We sure are."

She got closer to the girl and cleaned her face with her finger, making Momo stop in her tracks.

When Sana's finger came in contact with Momo's lips, the other girl kept staring intensively at her.

Even after Sana got back to her original position, Momo kept looking at her.

Her stare was making Sana feel things she wasn't supposed to feel for someone she had just met.

But that was the thing with Momo; it looked like they had known each other for years already, not just a few hours.

Sana couldn't explain it, but it felt good.

Perhaps, it was even too good to be true.

But why would Sana care about that right now?

No, she did not care.

The only thing that mattered was the way Momo's eyes were now staring at her lips while she was biting hers.

It was they way the room suddenly felt hotter and Sana had the urgent need of taking off her shirt.

Momo's too.

It was the fact that she already missed Momo's warmth; her hands slowly reaching out to cup her cheeks, while Momo leaned into them.

It was the way Momo was kissing her, so passionately and yet so softly, like she cared.

Sana missed having someone that actually cared for her.

It was the way Momo was holding her as they started undressing each other, ready to give into one another for the night.

It was the way Sana couldn't stop thinking about how great of a night that was as she laid next to a half asleep Momo, holding her hand and asking her if she okay.

Sana was more than okay.

She had never felt so good.

And she would do this all over again.

However, for the moment, she was just fine cuddling with Momo, as the night was fading away and sleep was slowly taking over the both of them.

The last thing Sana remembered before falling in a deep slumber was Momo kissing her nose and smiling at her like she was the purest being on earth.

Sana was fine falling asleep with that image replaying in her mind.
