Dreams Come True
If You Were Gay
"You thought all those things? About wanting to spend time with me?" Bomi asked, not even trying to hide her huge smile. "The talking, the tteokbokki, the scary movie, the kissing?"
Chorong blushed, refusing to give a response, just swinging their intertwined hands as they walked.
The picnic date, I mean, the neighbourhood picnic event ended in the late afternoon. As everyone scattered on with their evening plans, Chorong had welcomed her old roommate back to their beloved home. Hayoung had never been happier to greet Chorong's little potted plants. Basil-kun, Rosémary, LemonBamBam- Yah Hayoung-ah! Those aren't their names!
The three had dinner together like a family for the first time, creating a fun dynamic of love and craziness. Okay, so the craziness came from Team Y.O; Team Lies. Ah, yes, an excited Hayoung and an equally enthusiastic Bomi started making up team names. Chorong and the boys, it became. Cho-Lies. This was just ridiculous. Chorong hadn't expected how close Bomi and Hayoung would be, but only when they were together did she realise how their stupid sides multiplied, fuelling their most childish qualities. Her annoyed huffs couldn't wipe off the smile on her face though. She was genuinely so happy these days, with today being a particularly spectacular one.
With the sun setting gorgeously over the horizon, overflowing the sky with romantic pinks and oranges, the couple decided to take a walk, reflecting on the eventful day they've had, recalling the past week's memories while relaxing with new ones. Today had been quite a day. There were new things they learnt about each other just in retelling the story they told, like they were parents telling their child the story of how they met and bickering over what happened exactly; the things they remembered, the things they had forgotten; their different perspectives and the thoughts they had harboured; revisiting those first blooming feelings that they never went back to talk about.
They reached their destination, wandering back to Bomi's hotel room in what had become their little secret place of inhabitance. Bomi stepped in front of Chorong, bringing them face-to-face so she could admire those beautiful features up close.
"We can still do all those things," she grinned, her eyes connecting with Chorong's, sending the woman aflutter.
Bomi's heartbeat jumped in speed at a sudden thought, and the way she peered at Chorong's lips gave it away. The older woman's tongue unconsciously darted out to wet her lips, the action making Bomi mesmerised. Kiss, kiss, kiss.
"I really liked the last one," she husked.
The kissing one.
Chorong was out of breath. "Yeah?"
"Yeah," Bomi was already saying against her lips before crashing them together.
Oop- Let's bring it back to the airport... ;)
Chorong was squeezed in an all-encompassing hug by the one and only Yoon Bomi, and she felt herself melting in bliss. It felt like a huge weight had been lifted off her chest, and to be embraced by Bomi as well... Chorong realised how nice it felt to accept her feelings; to accept what has always been a part of who she is.
She is gay. She's attracted to women. She finds them y, she finds them beautiful, and she wants that intimate, emotional, romantic connection with a lover, which she can only have with a woman. Because, Chorong is sooo gay.
But she's attracted to one woman most of all. This woman, who stirred her feelings from the very first moment without needing so much as to blow a kiss and flip her hair, or even wave a hand. She walked into the room and Chorong's world turned upside down.
Wow, if everyone acted so wholesomely the way Bomi did, coming out would be such a relief. And also Bomi was hugging her! Bomi was hugging her!
The younger woman's eyes were sparkling when she met her gaze, their swaddle of warmth and love being pulled back so they could take a look at each other. Smiles were stuck on their faces, and their underlying feelings were buzzing. A blush still evident on her cheeks, Bomi was feeling so incredibly proud and happy for Chorong. She knew Chorong had it in her, but she didn't expect anything like this. She didn't know whether to expect it at all, let alone whether it could happen so soon! Everything had been so emotional, she might cry.
"How did that feel?" Bomi breathed, only seeing Chorong.
"That felt great," Chorong beamed. "That felt.. so great."
Well, I guess this is goodbye.
The joy was somewhat short-lived as Jinyoung returned from the restroom, and Chorong remembered why she came. The reason she rushed here so fast, was to give Bomi a proper goodbye without any regrets. She wanted to let her go with a smile, but it really felt as though her heart had sunk to her stomach. Damn, Chorong had really fallen hard.
She went in for a friendly hug with Jinyoung, giving him a solid pat on the back. They bid farewell in much the same way as they had greeted each other that dinner, like the old college friends they were, with no hard feelings.
Then Jinyoung and Bomi hugged, and it was clear they were friends and workmates who've known each other for a while. The space between them decreased and they went almost chest to chest, Bomi giving him a childish punch in the back. Is that how she hugs her friends?
The sight had something gnawing at her heartstrings. Chorong felt uncomfortable, jealous even, that they'll be leaving together, probably seated together on a flight for hours, falling asleep on each other's shoulders; Bomi's head on his shoulder, as his head gently rested atop of hers... Whoa, hey, where did that come from?
"I'll call you?"
"Yeah, call me when you land," Bomi said, watching him head to the departure gates. "Have a safe flight."
Jinyoung gave a last wave that she returned gladly, and as she did, Bomi felt a pair of eyes burning into her side. Hm?
She turned to Chorong, who was looking at her all pink in the face. Bomi broke into a smile.
"What are you looking all jealous for?"
"Wha-? I... I am not!"
Chorong's face was in a strange conflict of whether to blush or be hesitantly furious. Adorable.
"Are you not going in together? You have a plane to catch, right?" Chorong puffed up her cheeks in an attempt to be mad, but her stomach was fluttering to think Bomi might want to be with her a little longer, and maybe give her another kind of goodbye. A private one.
Bomi shook her head slightly as her shoulders went up and her lips puckered.
"No."
Chorong blinked as her mind tried to come back to her body. What? "No" what?
"Um, I'm not flying to the States?" Bomi chuckled. "I was just sending off Jinyoung oppa."
Oh. Oh...
"So, you wanna go.. grab a coffee or something?" Bomi asked hopefully.
Chorong managed to regain some control of her facial expression, trying to feign indifference by in her cheeks a little.
"Yeah, okay. Sure."
Bomi gave a nod towards the nearby cafe for Chorong to follow her lead, totally missing the way Chorong failed to suppress a really big smile on her face when her back was turned.
Welp. So, Bomi actually has a home on the other side of the city with her roommate; fellow music producer and renowned singer-songwriter, Jeong Eunji. Bomi had been travelling back and forth due to working with Jinyoung overseas, and they flew in together to finalise a project in person with famous Hallyu singer Kim Taewoo. That's why she stayed at the hotel with Jinyoung, so it'd be easier to discuss their work and get to where they need to go together.
With their last collaboration on the road to completion, Bomi would oversee the finished product, which left Jinyoung free to pick up his other opportunity. This would be where they part ways as artists. Jinyoung was ultimately choosing to go back international, while Bomi was taking her own path of staying in Korea for good, to be closer to her friends and family, and with hope to finally work with her friend Ravi. Ah, they've been wanting to collab together for the longest time, but Bomi never stayed long enough. Now, she has another reason to stay as well.
"If I was really leaving, I would've called you," Bomi said, stirring her coffee with a bashful smile.
They sat together on the same side of the booth, enjoying their drinks, and just enjoying being so near each other. Their arms sometimes brushed, the light contact sending sparks up to their hearts. Bomi even let Chorong steal some of her toppings.
She would've called me?
"You got my number from Jinyoung?" Chorong connected the dots on her own. He was their only connection of correspondence. At least, the only one known to Chorong at the time.
"Yeah. Yeah I did," the younger woman said sheepishly. Chorong's confused behaviour had meant she couldn't ask for it straight-up. It just didn't seem like a good idea. And it'd be weird to ask Hayoung, when she wasn't supposed to meet Chorong until their surprise date. So, of course, Bomi went by Jinyoung.
"Then it's only fair if you give me your number too."
Bomi grinned. "Okay."
Chorong entered a new contact into her phone and handed the device over, deliberately touching Bomi's hands as she did. Wow, she could get high from even the simplest of touches. Bomi punched in her number and then pouted.
"Unnie, you need to change my name in your contacts."
"Hm, why?"
"Just Yoon Bomi is so colddd," Bomi mock-shivered.
"But that's what I call you, Yoon Bomi."
Bomi pouted again, trying to be cute. It was totally working. "Change my name to something else."
"Like what?"
Babe. Honey.
Chorong panicked to herself, staring at Bomi for an actual response. I mean, w-w-why would I call you that?
She was distracted by her own thoughts and the perfect slide of Bomi's nose that it took her a moment to register what was happening. Bomi dove for a sweet peck on her waiting lips.
"Uwaaah!" Chorong jumped back in her seat, delayed. She should know by now that being around Bomi comes with a heart attack.
Chorong was looking around rapidly like a bird jerking its head, and when she realised it was clear, she slid further into the booth with a sigh. There weren't that many patrons, and it didn't seem like anyone could see them from this angle. Public displays of affection was never something she was ever ready for, even with her past dates. Also, hang on a flipping second, that was their second kiss-
"If we're gonna be dating, you're gonna have to get used to my kisses, unnie," Bomi teased with a giggle as she had watched Chorong sink down in the booth, heart rate spiking and slowing from her surprise.
"W-W-We're gonna be.. dating??" Chorong said with wide eyes, that hammering coming back to her chest.<
