Description

In 1948, Bae Joomi moved to the region of Jinhae-gu from Seoul, to begin a new chapter of her life. She has the ability to write and speak in different languages, special abilities which she chose to be hidden.

Aside from Joomi's intelligence, her breathtaking beauty caught the attention of several men in the region, especially the hearts of best friends Kim Jinseok and Kim Jinyoung. As she's entangled in the best friends' fight for her affection, she was left with a decision to choose which of them must marry. A decision difficult for Joomi to make, since both Jinyoung and Jinseok hold a special place in her heart.

However, she mysteriously died before making that decision. Her death came as a heartbreaking shock, which led to the region's hidden legend, "A Rose from the Dark".

Bae Joohyun is considered as the “Rose of Seoul” as she takes the job of a florist at Jinhae-gu, a district in Changwon City, South Korea. Beneath her breathtaking beauty lies a loneliness that can only be expressed by the most beautiful words. Even if she knows a lot of men want to win her heart, she knows what she wants.

Nothing will move Joohyun’s heart completely unless the man possesses the beauty of both looks and words, an undeniable feat for many.

Kim Seokjin is supposed to express his feelings yet he’s unsure if Joohyun will love him for who he is. Kim Joonmyeon’s exquisite beauty is a perfect match for Joohyun’s, however, he doesn’t know if his words are beautiful enough for her.

Somewhere along the way, between looks and letters, Joohyun finds herself in a similar destiny as Joomi’s. Will Joohyun be able to make that fateful decision, or will her love story will add a chapter to a well-known legend?

Foreword

"Tonight I can write the saddest lines. I loved her, and sometimes she loved me too.

Through nights like this one I held her in my arms, I kissed her again and again under the endless sky.

She loved me sometimes, and I loved her too. How could one not have loved her great still eyes.

Tonight I can write the saddest lines. To think that I do not have her. To feel that I have lost her."

- Pablo Neruda, "Tonight I Can Write the Saddest Lines"

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Are you ready to get minded and to cry your tears out with this story? I'm not ehe, since I already burst into tears while creating the outline for this story. This story will be set in both 1948 and 2019, although the story will focus more on the present since this will be Joohyun's story anyway.

This story is inspired by a very depressing song that a friend recommended to me, Anthony Doerr's "All the Light We Cannot See" and Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights". With the amount of stories I've read about reincarnation, memory, history, and different time periods, I'll try to make this story as realistic as possible. But do keep in mind that this story is still a work of fiction.

This special project is very dear to my heart. I hope you'll all enjoy it!

Special thanks to the lovely MochiOppa from Dope Graphics Shop for the amazing poster! Check out her graphics shop and I promise you, you'll not be disappointed! <3
