chapter four
Unrequited"Minjoo!?"
Hearing the familiar voice, Minjoo and Sakura panicked the instant they turned their heads towards the direction of the source. Seeing the five figures standing outside their room, obviously frozen on their spot confirmed the presence of their friends.
It was only then that the grey haired girl noticed the absence of distance between her and the younger. With that, she hastily stood up from the bed and acted innocent, as if that would even work.
"You guys?! W-what are you doing here?" The cherry blossom mentally cursed herself for stuttering in front of her friends. Meanwhile, the brunette sat up from the large bed and is as equally nervous as the older.
Yena pointed her fingers darting back and forth from the two people originally inside the room. gaped open while her free arm tried to cover it, she was surprised with the sight that greeted them inside the Japanese's room. The other girls are just as shock as the duck lipped lass, well actually, who wouldn't, right?
"U-us? W-what is SHE doing here?" The purple haired said, emphasizing a word in counter of Sakura's query. The latter bit her lower lip upon hearing the question as she racked her brain for possible excuses, she hoped they wouldn't ask but she knew it was impossible considering the fact that it's not every day you'll see the bickering duo hanging out alone together... on top of a bed.
Minjoo on the other hand, shook her head as she facepalmed herself. As if breakfast was not enough to stir their brains early in the morning, these idiots just had to come at such a wrong timing.
"I uhh, I mean, we..." The grey haired lass stammered nervously trying to come up with something.
"Are you finally going to tell us that you two are secretly dating each other?" Nako raised her eyebrows, causing the two to lock gazes, each wondering how sharp the small girl could be.
Oh if only this little devil of a dwarf knew.
"N-no!" The brunette utter suddenly, motioning for the older to make up something fast. But little did they know, their exchange of glances and signals are only heightening the five's suspicions.
"We, uhh, were told to study for an upcoming quiz, since we won the quiz last time." The older nodded her head as she eyed on her companion, sending a gesture to nod along with her as well to convince the onlookers before them.
"Y-yeah. T-that." The beauty tried as best as she could to convince them, but despite that, it didn't seem to successfully brush the suspicions off of their friends' minds.
As much as they love them and tell them their secret, this one is something that they couldn't possibly let anyone know about, not even when they find a way to go around it. Seeing the crew have a silent agreement, the bickering duo emits a sigh of relief.
"Okay. We'll leave it at that." Hyewon said, seemingly buying the excuse but she has her suspicions. She knew there's something odd with what they were told but she can't figure out what so she just lets them be. She then made herself comfortable by sprawling herself on Sakura's bed making Minjoo raise her eyebrows with the older's actions.
"Is it just me or did your bed just got bigger, Sakura?" The latter asks as she taps on the empty space beside her.
"Y-yeah. My parents bought me a bigger bed." The Japanese moved to sit beside her black haired friend who was lying on her bed and without warning, the fox-like lass pulled the older down to lay with her and laced her arms around her.
The goddess couldn't help but twitch every muscle upon seeing the affectionate action of Hyewon to the grey-haired girl, she can feel some sort of weird tugging feeling inside her, but it vanished in an instant when Yuri came to hug her from behind.
"Minjoo-ah, why didn't you tell us you were here?" The taller turns to look at the puppy eyes her friend was giving her and couldn't help but pinch her cheeks, causing the hamster-like lass to squeal in pain and the former to utter a chortle.
"It was sudden." Minjoo beams, feeling satisfied with her excuse unlike the stuttering feline who seems to be having so much fun hugging her friend on their bed. Despite being occupied with Yuri's presence, her eyes seem to be drawn back to her fiancée's frame.
"Hey Sakura! Let's play games in the arcade room!" Yena chimed in, launching herself at the two who was sprawled on top of the bed. When the duck landed, the Japanese curled up and hisses in pain as the younger lass accidentally daggers an elbow unto her abdomen.
"Oh shoot, s-sorry, Sakura." The latter immediately held the cherry blossom's hand then rubbed her tummy to relieve the pain she just caused and Minjoo didn't miss this action, weirdly, she feels a bit uncomfortable at the sight.
Are they all this affectionate towards Sakura?
A couple of painful moments later, the grey haired girl finally collected herself from the agony and stood up with Yena trailing behind her like a lost little puppy, or duck rather.
"Let's go to the arcade room." Yena exclaims in happiness, as if she didn't just cause pain to her friend a while ago.
"N-no!" Sakura abruptly spoke out while holding her tummy due to the pain she have just received earlier, hearing her response, the duck behind her was a bit taken aback.
"I-i mean, let's just play here, this place is bigger anyway just wait here while I bring our stuffs." The cherry blossom swiftly moved out of the room, but not forgetting to drag Minjoo with her outside which earned suspecting looks from the rest of the gang.
When the door clicked behind the two, the Japanese exhales a sigh and faced the younger who was gawking at their joint hands with a visible blush on her cheeks. The former followed her eyes and broke their contact in a matter of seconds upon realization.
"Okay." The older cleared to diminish the awkward atmosphere going around them.
"We can't let them know about us and we can't let them see our parents. I'm sure our parents will tell them about us as soon as they see them. I'll take care of getting the stuffs for us inside the room, all you have to do is keep them inside the room. Got it?" The feline spoke firmly, and her imperious attitude could only make the younger roll her eyes.
"Pfft. You don't have to tell me what to do."
After the agreement, Minjoo went inside the room while Sakura makes her way to the arcade room to get the game consoles. When she was occupied in her own thoughts, Yujin sneakily went besides the beauty and confronts her about something that has been bothering her ever since she saw the duo together.
"You're hiding something, aren't you?" The question startled the brunette as much as she thought but tried to keep her poker face in front of the pup-like lass as she knows that the latter is only doing this to catch her right by the edge.
"Huh?" The older lass tries to feign ignorance but much to her disappointment, their blue haired maknae is persistent, she steps a foot forward gradually backing the former against the wall as she squints her eyes to try and decipher the puzzle.
Before the younger could move even closer to her, Minjoo pushed Yujin away to escape and huffed as she is once again trying to keep up the act that she was putting up a while ago.
"What are you talking about?" When the beauty escaped from the pushy frame, she went to Yuri's aid who was busy messing with the television. The brown haired beauty was thankful that Yujin didn't press any longer but unknown to her, the puppy didn't actually buy any of what she said.
The crowd inside the room snaps their head at the direction of the door where Sakura came barging inside while having a hard time carrying all the game consoles, luckily for her, Yujin was quick to help her out. A thing that she admires about their youngest, she always comes to her aid while the others are sitting there merely lifting a finger to help.
Once the game was set, Yena and Hyewon started fighting over who gets to play first, it took a couple of squabble and rock, paper, scissors before they finally decided to play a multiplayer game instead.
The gamer duo is making teams with a bet awaiting for whoever loses. Hyewon having won the first round of rock, paper, scissors gets the chance to recruit a member in her team first.
"Hey, Kkura you're in my team." Hyewon said not in a form of question but the cherry blossom's answer caught everyone by surprise.
"Uh. No thanks. I'll play later." With that being said, Yena immediately stood up to come to her side and placed her palm on top of the older's forehead, seemingly checking to see if her temperature is normal or not.
"Are you sick, Unnie? You look fine though." The duck lipped girl worriedly asks, still not letting go of the Japanese's face.
"No, Yena I'm okay. I just don't feel like playing yet." The cherry blossom grabs a hold of Yena's hand and pulls it away from her forehead while flashing an assuring smile to brush off the worriedness that her friend is feeling.
