Chapter 6

5 AM

Chaeyoung thought burying herself in her work could cover whatever hurt she felt. The more she works, the most likely she forgets.

And she works so hard that she ultimately forget the part that she’s human too, and her body has finally give up on her which is why she’s right here, in the hospital recuperating.

Right now, in the quietness of her hospital room, Chaeyoung finally found the reason to cry. She likes to cry now, it soothes her, make her feel like she’s letting go.

“Chaeyoung?”

Chaeyoung immediately puts away her phone, wipe away her tears as Rosé walks in.

“How you doing, Babe?”

Rosé immediately pulls back as she sees Chaeyoung flinch at her attempt to touch her. But it wasn’t just Rosé’s touch that was making Chaeyoung flinch, just the word babe coming from Rosé’s mouth is making Chaeyoung suffer.

“I’m okay, I just… I guess I’m just tired that’s all.”

Rosé finally got the strength to take Chaeyoung’s hand. And as hard for it for Rosé to accept, it was obvious… so obvious.

Here she was holding Chaeyoung’s hand, but Chaeyoung’s hand just remained still, unwilling to hold hers back.

“I wish I could do something, Chaeyoung to make you feel better.”

Chaeyoung remains quiet, knowing her answer would just hurt Rosé.

“You know Chaeyoung, no matter how much hurt we have in the past…” Rosé smiles wishfully, hoping to finally have Chaeyoung see what they have. “I’m still willing to forget about it and move on…”

Chaeyoung was about to pull her hand away, but Rosé kept holding on.

“And you think our future could be better?”

“You didn’t even give it a try!” Rosé insisted

“For what?!” Chaeyoung finally raise her voice at the girl “For what? To pretend that we have something even if we don’t? Are you going to be happy with that?”

“I did try, Chaeyoung over and over again, hoping that this one time, you could finally see that it was me all along.”

Rosé had finally broken down, her tears starting to pour out.

“I know… But I can’t…” Chaeyoung looks down, watching as her tears soak the sheet

“And what that ***** does? Do you really believe that you love her? Wake up Chaeng… it was just … all of it was just !”

“No! Stop it!” Chaeyoung covers her ears, refusing to hear anymore. “Stop telling me how I feel because you have no idea…”

Chaeyoung’s words starts to trail off as she started to succumb to her tears. “I love her and that’s the only thing I know and the only thing I’m sure about.”

“I know…” Rosé stops Chaeyoung before she could hear those painful words out from Chaeyoung’s mouth “I know Chaeyoung, I knew all along I just could never accept it. But what does she have, that I don’t? why do you love her, but you could never love me?”

Rosé searched the answer in Chaeyoung’s eyes, but the answer she found, wasn’t what she was looking for. Or it wasn’t the answer she would wanted to see.

“I’m sorry…” It was all Chaeyoung could say… “I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry…”

But even if she utters one million sorries, she could never undo the hurt.

“You’ll find someone, Rosé…”

Easier said than done… was what Rosé wanted to say…

But there was no use saying it, there was no use breaking whatever is left of their already shattered beings.

So, instead of words, Rosé answered Chaeyoung with a smile. A smile that was hard for her to pull out that she was even surprised how she managed it.

“Maybe if you do love her like you claim you do, maybe you could actually show it.” Rosé says so curtly “Rather than just wallowing here in pain, feeling sorry for yourself.”

Chaeyoung couldn’t figure out why Rosé’s words started sinking in…

“Someday Chaeyoung… someday…”

Rosé left some words in her, wanting Chaeyoung to decipher what was missing… She turns back wanting Chaeyoung to see what she was missing, but Chaeyoung doesn’t seem like she cared at all. And Rosé hates to admit it, but for once in their severed relationship, Chaeyoung seems relieved.

*

So, this was the girl that Mina was willing to risk for.

“Ms. Son?”

Seunghyun lips curve in a devious smile as he sees the beauty in his office. Chaeyoung responded to him with a smile. The less words she say, the less ammo he could use against her.

“What can I help you with?”

“Myoui Mina.”

“Who?” Of course Seunghyun knew, but the sadistic part in him just like to see this beautiful girl squirm.

“Myoui Mina, she’s one of the girls in your list.”

“Oh… her? I don’t really discuss my employees with other people.”

Chaeyoung has to calm herself, Seunghyun was targeting her at all the right spots.

“Well, I heard that she’s bind with you with a contract. I want to discuss with you how she can get out of it”

Seunghyun let out a smug smirk… “That good, huh?”

“What?”

“She’s that amazing in bed… Do you know how many times I get this offer? Trust me Ms. Son you’re not the first one… There have been many, and I mean many who have came to me, asking to save Mina, trying to be her hero. But in the end, they realize all they were to Mina was just a signature in her paycheck.”

“What me and Mina have is different!”

Seunghyun rolls his eyes at Chaeyoung’s stubbornness. It was making him bored and irritated…

“I heard that one too…”

“You are going to negotiate with me on releasing Mina from your contract.”

“You know, a little secret between us Ms. Son… Myoui Mina is my top earner, socialites, politicians, athletes, they all want a piece of her. They are willing to pay me their whole paycheck just for one night with her. So, releasing her is out of the question unless…“

“How much?”

Seunghyun raise his brow, surprise of how much this lawyer was willing to sacrifice for her heart’s sake.

“What?”

“How much do I need to pay to have her release?”

“I don’t think you would want to know…”

“Trust me… I do.”

Chaeyoung have never met someone who is as daunting as him. Seunghyun didn’t even flinch for a second but instead gave Chaeyoung a devilish smirk.

“Here…” Seunghyun slides a card towards Chaeyoung’s direction. “Go there tonight…”

Chaeyoung took the card and red the name of a famous club…

“See, if you still want to do this…”

*

The clubs are starting to become like gateways of hell for Mina. For her profession, clubs is not just a place to get intoxicated in either music or alcohol, it’s one of the places where she meets clients. Seunghyun would bring her there, introduce her to a few men or women and the highest bidder would have a night with her.

Mina was one step closer to entering the VIP room but she couldn’t find herself to walk in. It wasn’t just the blaring music anymore, or the possessed bodies enthralled to the music, it was something else. Before she was hallow, unnerved at every emotion. But meeting Chaeyoung made her human again, and being apart from her felt like her whole soul got ripped apart from her body.

She wanted so bad to be with Chaeyoung, for Chaeyoung to take her away from all this. She just wants to be with Chaeyoung, only Chaeyoung…

But she love Chaeyoung too much of depriving her of the perfect life that she could be living. Chaeyoung deserve to be with the perfect woman, not a wretch like her.

This was the life she chose and there is no escaping it.

The place was filled with the same vicious crowd whose bodies are possessed with drugs, alcohol or . But among the demons, an angel stood out… Her angel was right there trying to fit in among the devils.

“C-Chaeyoung?”

Mina turns to Seunghyun for answers but he was too busy taking a hit of something illegal. She turned to Sana but she too was preoccupied. Mina hurriedly grabs Chaeyoung’s hand dragging her out of this hell.

*

Mina pushed through the crowd, making sure her hand still had a hold on Chaeyoung as they made their way outside. They only found peace in a corner alley, where the music was nothing more but an echo bouncing off the club’s wall.

Mina shoved Chaeyoung to the wall, earning a low grunt from the smol girl as Mina pinned her to the wall.

“What are you doing?” Mina slightly growled…

Chaeyoung looks at Mina with a surprise, why does Mina sound so livid? Doesn’t she want to try again?

“I talk with Seunghyun ask him what I could do about your contract.”

Mina’s grip on Chaeyoung’s wrist starts to loosen. She took a hesitant step back from Chaeyoung and this time it was Chaeyoung holding on.

“W-what did he say?”

Chaeyoung remained quiet, she doesn’t want Mina to know that she and Seunghyun havent reach an agreement yet. She wanted Mina to know she’s not giving up, not that she’s stomped at everything.

“We’re working things out… but don’t worry, I’ll do what I can to cut you from your bind.”

But it was as if Mina already read the words Chaeyoung tried to hide inside.

“And what if he says no? What would you do, Chaeyoung? Will you walk away again?”

Chaeyoung knew that Mina has every right to be doubtful, but the only thing that Mina’s doubts do is shatter whatever strength Chaeyoung was trying to keep.

“I know… I know…” Chaeyoung starts to cry regretfully “That I have hurt you, that I have said some things that I shouldn’t… But, I want you to forgive me… please…”

Chaeyoung reaches out a shaky arm to pull Mina closer and she was thankful that Mina didn’t pull away.

“I forgive you, Chaeyoung… But why would we put ourselves through that much hurt again?”

Mina’s words started stabbing at the little life that remained in her.

“No, no, no Mina…” Chaeyoung grips Mina closer, pressing every inch that they have apart. “I’m sorry… I’m so sorry… I know it’s my fault but I’m willing to try…” Chaeyoung looks at Mina pleadingly “Don’t you?”

Mina takes a deep breath, confused on how she was going to let Chaeyoung understand.

“It’s not that easy…”

But Chaeyoung wants to prove something to her too…

“It’s not that complicated either… Either we both love or we lost, there is nothing in between. Mina…”

She felt Mina slightly shiver from the sudden gust of wind, and it made Chaeyoung quickly pull her to her embrace.

“I’m sorry for everything I have done… but let me prove to you, that what we have Mina… it’s worth it saving, it’s worth getting hurt over. It’s worth everything…”

Chaeyoung was worth it, but Mina could never think that she is. And as much as she hated it, she had to pull away. Mina shook her head incessantly to Chaeyoung’s words, Chaeyoung might have said it, but her action before proves that it was harder being done.

“You saw the life that I have… it’s not pretty, it’s ugly, it’s hell…” Mina slowly lowers their arms down wanting to see the honesty in Chaeyoung’s eyes. “I don’t want you in that…”

But Chaeyoung was determined to keep their hearts from shattering…

“I don’t want you in that either…”

Chaeyoung slowly lowers her hand in Mina’s arm until it reaches her hand, slowly intertwining their hands together.

“And maybe right now Mina, I can’t take you away from that. But I’ll wait… I’ll prove to you that I’ll be here now… it’s not going to be empty words anymore, I mean it… You’ll never be alone anymore… I won’t leave… I won’t…”

“You’re wasting your time.”

“It’s my time not yours… and didn’t I tell you, Mina? You’re worth every second of it.”

Mina found it much harder to let go, but very slowly she had to, she pried away every hook that Chaeyoung has on her and stepped away.

“Don’t… Chaeyoung, just don’t…”

And Chaeyoung remained frozen in her spot as Mina have simply walked away from her.

*

“Ummm… hi…”

Sana was sleepy from the chaotic night she just had, but the sight of the beauty in front of her wake every single sleeping bone in her.

“I’m Son Chaeyoung. Is Mina there?”

The girl in front of her doesn’t need any introduction. Her beauty was an emphatic statement by itself. Sana properly knows who she is.

“She’s not here right now, she went somewhere an hour ago.”

A frightened look quickly filled those innocent cub eyes, and even Sana as cold as she is felt the need to protect her.

“No… no… it’s not with a client… if you want Chaeyoung you could come here and wait for her.”

Chaeyoung smiles both in gratitude and relief.

“Ummm… I brought some stuff…”

Chaeyoung lifts up to show Sana her grocery bag.

“I was planning to cook dinner for her. If that’s ok?”

*

The whiff of something burning was the first thing that Mina noticed the moment she opens their apartment door.

God… Sana probably fell asleep while cooking again…

“SANA!!!”

Mina hurried to the kitchen but instead of seeing Sana she saw Chaeyoung, her adorable eyes looks so frightened at the horrid thing she’s cooking.

“Chaeyoung?”

“I… I… I tried to make something, and the fire just went… poof…”

Mina purses her lips trying to stop herself from smiling at Chaeyoung’s failure. It was just too darn cute…

Chaeyoung steps away and let Mina take control, obviously her plan of cooking Mina a special dinner is not going right. She watch in defeat, embarrassed that the girl she’s trying to win over, is the one trying to clear up her mess.

After Mina got everything under control, she turned to the other girl.

“What were you trying to make?”

Chaeyoung took a peek of the burn piece of what used to be meat in the pan.

“A steak?”

Mina turns away, not wanting to insult Chaeyoung with an amused look. But Chaeyoung refuse one burnt meat from stopping her in making a romantic meal for Mina.

“Ummm… you must be tired, Mina… go and change or something… I’ll get something ready for you in no time…”

Chaeyoung pushes the hesitant Mina away… she was ready to try again…

*

“She’s trying…”

Mina finally look away from Chaeyoung who was still battling with the stove and faced Sana who was standing next to her chewing on her apple.

“What are you trying to do, Mina?”

“What do you mean?”

“Push her away to see how long she’ll stay?”

“No. I just want her to see that she deserves better…”

Sana couldn’t help but roll her eyes at Mina’s nobleness. Mina obviously was still so in love over the beautiful but hopeless in the kitchen girl, so why would she give her up?

“Wow… Mina, if everybody just gave up like you then no one can be happy… Can you take it if you see Chaeyoung happy with someone else?”

Mina turns back to the kitchen, looking at how clueless Chaeyoung look as she looks at the recipe book, trying to decipher over a pinch or teaspoon of salt.

“Yes.”

“That’s crap… Mina… you’ll probably be crying every night, wishing so bad you can have her back.”

Mina usually takes people sound advice, but right now she had enough of Sana continually burning her.

“I just want her to be with somebody better.” She finally snaps back.

“Then be that somebody better…”

“What?”

“Chaeyoung is right there, maybe seconds away from trying to burn our house but she knows what she did and she’s trying to make you forgive her. The point is she’s trying. But what about you? What are you doing?”

“I…” Mina thought she was doing the right thing.

“Exactly.” Sana snaps back “You’re doing nothing. So, why don’t you go over and help her out? I’m getting hungry…”

*

Chaeyoung have her share of quiet dinners but this one was probably the worse of them all. It ended with no more than three sentences and most of it were spoken by Sana who’s trying to ease the situation.

Sana tries to remain polite pushing around the burnt meat around her plate. She turns to Mina, then to Chaeyoung… The poor girl obviously looks disappointed with how her special dinner turned out.

But then they both gasp out loud as they saw Mina slicing a piece of the charcoal steak and putting it in . It was one of the worse things that Mina ate but when she saw the hopeful look in Chaeyoung’s eyes, she knew every stomach pain would be worth it, if it meant making Chaeyoung happy.

*

Chaeyoung felt like a spectator watching Mina clean up in the kitchen. After her failed attempt to woo her, Chaeyoung was unsure of how to approach her now.

“I should clean that up…”

Mina smiles softly at Chaeyoung.

“You already made us dinner, we don’t let guests do the chores.”

“Yes but it was me who made the mess…”

Chaeyoung has these eyes that you just couldn’t help saying yes too.

“Ok, why don’t you dry up the plates and just set it over there.”

It was such a simple task, so normal that words don’t seem to be necessary. It felt so real… Mina wishes this could last forever and Chaeyoung is determine to make it last…

“Chaeyoung… maybe tomorrow I could cook dinner…”

Chaeyoung’s eyes never look so alive, does it mean that Mina is inviting her for dinner?

“Ummm… I could bring dessert…”

“I think that’s a good idea.”

*

Mina steps into her bedroom, clutching her racing heart. It was the quick that Chaeyoung made her way back to her heart again. How quickly Mina put up her walls, yet how easy it was for Chaeyoung to tear it down. The cautious voice that kept on warning Mina of the hurt has been silenced.

“I want to become better…”

Mina made a promise to herself.

She walks over her desk. With her line of work, she could afford the most expensive gadgets but other than her phone she never really had time to play around with it.

*

Mina didn’t know that she could be both exhausted and happy at the same time. She spends her entire day going through different colleges, talking with counselors and finishing up paperworks. She was just halfway done, but no matter how exhausted she is, the excitement is still there. So, here she was in front of her papers, filling up more paperworks for college.

The vibrating of her phone stole her attention from her work. She absentmindedly picks it up but was jolted in fear when she saw the name flashing in her screen.

She contemplated a bit, thinking whether she should answer Seunghyun’s phonecall. Not picking up can mean consequences, consequences that she couldn’t even dare imagine.

Tears were starting to fill up her eyes again and the only solution she had to keep them from falling is to screw them shut. She couldn’t help but ask Why does this happen to her? Just when she’s about to stand up again, someone drags her down.

Her heart was starting to return to its normal pace when the phone ceased ringing. But after a few seconds, it started blaring again and Mina realized that there is no way out, she was trapped.

“H-hello?”

*

DING. DONG

Chaeyoung frantically fixes her hair before someone answers the door. She had an unexpected meeting and had to rush to get a cake and to be in Mina’s place. She’s not sure how she looks right now. Hopefully good enough…

“Hi…”

This time she greets Sana with a happier smile. But this time it was Sana who have a cold but sympathetic look at her.

“Mina’s not here, right now…”

“Oh…” Chaeyoung says dejectedly…

“She’s with a client.”

*

Tonight felt like the first time when some man just so easily stripped her of her soul. It was brutal, like a scab being ripped off from a wound and pouring alcohol to the already burning flesh.

She had became numb to it before, but when Chaeyoung came to her life, she brought back the feeling of how it is to feel once again. But nowadays the numbness had fade, only her vulnerability have remained

So, there she was in the pier where she could find solace, pathetic and weak, crying her heart out. She could see ships sailing away, it should suggest being free, but right now all Mina could feel is being trapped.

But out of nowhere, a feeling of warmth had taken over her as somebody drapes a jacket on her shoulders.

“You’re going to get cold…”

Mina looks up and saw Chaeyoung smiling weakly before sitting beside her.

“I should have said no, Chaeyoung… I should have…”

It frustrated Chaeyoung how helpless she was at that very moment. Here was Mina crying once again and here she was, confused on what she could do to take away her pain.

“I won’t leave you…” Chaeyoung sincerely promised

Mina thinks this was some harsh dream colliding with her reality but when she opens her eyes, Chaeyoung was still there.

“B-but… Chaeyoung…”

“I’m done running away, I’m going to fight for you now…” Chaeyoung asks pleadingly as she whispers in Mina’s neck. “Whatever happens Mina, I won’t leave you… I’m going to be right here and I will never leave you again.”

Mina could feel like she was being to be this close with Chaeyoung. The bold kisses that Chaeyoung presses on her neck felt like burn, sizzling through her skin. Mina gripped Chaeyoung’s wrist, wanting to pull away but instead she hold on tighter, scared of faltering once she let go.

“I’m not going to let go anymore, Mina… I’m not…”

“C-Chaeyoung… I don’t deserve you… I don’t deserve you…” Mina tries to step back, but while she was slowly losing all her strength, Chaeyoung was doing everything to keep her from faltering.

Chaeyoung shakes her head incessantly “Stop saying that… just stop… I love you…”

Chaeyoung leans her forehead on Mina, begging for an answer. She shuts her eyes as she felt Chaeyoung’s lips slowly brushing against hers.

“I’m just going to hurt you…” Mina reasons out…

“Being apart from you hurts worse… ”

Chaeyoung coax Mina to look up at her, her smile hiding the hurt, her eyes preventing the tears. She wipes Mina’s tear streaked cheeks before leaning their foreheads together.

“Doesn’t it hurt you too?”

Without any hesitation, Mina crashes her lips into Chaeyoung’s. Her tongue Chaeyoung’s lower lip as she pleaded to deepen her kiss…

And who was Chaeyoung to deny herself of this pleasure?

“More than anything else…” Mina profess breathlessly

Every pent up emotion that Mina kept buried was now pouring out in their kiss. Her fingers clutching into Chaeyoung’s hair, trying to hold on as she felt herself drowning out of strength. Moans have escape their mouth as their tongue got caught in a battle.

They only pull away when their lungs were begging for more air… But only a few seconds have tick, and Mina was dying to taste Chaeyoung again, burying herself in Chaeyoung’s neck as she tries to regain her strength.

“Take me away from here…”

*

Chaeyoung might as well find the nearest hotel, but her mind was only capable of making rash decisions now. So, the moment she and Mina were in her car, she wasted no time in letting Mina know that she wanted her.

But hesitation was quick to take over Mina again, it felt like a seesaw of her emotions as she felt disgusted and so undeserving of Chaeyoung.

“Chaeyoung…” Mina tries to still Chaeyoung, tried but could never did.

“What’s wrong Mina?” Chaeyoung whispers while her hand is making its way to the back of Mina’s dress.

Mina refused to answer, or in a lack of better terms can’t find herself to answer. Mina’s lack of words, gave Chaeyoung the ammunition to go. She quickly pulls Mina to straddle on her lap, her deft fingers causing a burning sensation as it very slowly pulls down the zipper of Mina’s dress.

C-Chaeyoung?” Mina didn’t know what she was pleading for, for Chaeyoung to stop or for Chaeyoung to take over her.

Mina’s shimmery dress comes undone quite easily. And soon, she was there in Chaeyoung’s backseat, bare for Chaeyoung’s pleasure.

“You’re too beautiful…” Chaeyoung gushes nervously before she leans closer, nibbling every inch of Mina’s expose skin.

“You too…” Mina admitted shyly while her hands impatiently peels or more of tears Chaeyoung’s clothes off.

Why was she even fooling herself to think that she doesn’t need this?

Chaeyoung had pinned Mina down in her back of her leather seat. She was racing to take what was hers. But when their eyes met for a second, it felt like everything went into a stand still. The intensity was replaced with gentleness, Chaeyoung swallows softly as she was completely drawn to the sight of Mina’s body.

The lust have dissolved slowly into love…

Chaeyoung Mina’s face gently, feeling Mina tremble as she caresses every inch of Mina’s body, only stopping at the waistband of Mina’s underwear.

“I love you…” Chaeyoung confesses.

Mina gaze back in Chaeyoung’s eyes and didn’t see any reason for her to doubt. Chaeyoung’s hand remain steady unwilling to move as she anticipates for Mina’s answer. The raven haired girl fingers tangle in Chaeyoung’s hair, using it to pull her closer. Their tongues found each once more, entangling themselves once again.

“I love you too…” Mina murmurs in Chaeyoung’s mouth.

And for Chaeyoung, it was the four words that she needed to go on. Not a second pass and Mina gasps as Chaeyoung seized her deeply. They shared some lazy kisses before Mina buries herself in Chaeyoung’s embrace. She nibbles Chaeyoung’s neck, sometimes biting sharply when Chaeyoung would caress her fiercely.

Mina with her trembling hands trailed down Chaeyoung’s body. Chaeyoung almost collapse in Mina’s body as she felt her inside her. She quickly searches for Mina’s lips, seeking relief from the painful pleasure she was receiving.

“I love you…”

The backseat was a cramp space, but for Chaeyoung and Mina it was still too much space between them. Their bodies pull closer until no gaps were left between them. Their bodies pull closer until the air is the same ones they breathe, their bodies pull closer until they weren’t two anymore and became one.

But like everything in this world, you can never have too much of a good thing, and despite their addiction to each other, despite how hard they hold on, the moment they reach their pleasure, the one became two once again…

Mina curls up to Chaeyoung’s embrace again, the friction of their skin as they’re gasping for air was enough to cause sparks in Mina again. But for them their distance was still too much, not a few seconds pass and they become one once again as they linger in each other’s touch.

*

Seunghyun’s secretary has a hard time catching up to the beautiful girl storming to his office.

“Miss… miss…” She tries to call her out, but the beauty wasn’t hearing it.

Chaeyoung didn’t waste any time to show Seunghyun how she feels. The second she was in his office, she grabs on the nearest vase and flings it across the room to hit his face.

It was a good thing Seunghyun got great reflex or that vase would leave a nasty mark on his face.

“What the hell?” He growls.

“Is this all a money game to you?” Chaeyoung scowled “You don’t care how many people you’re hurting as long as you stuff your pockets?!”

“It’s a business Ms. Son…” Seunghyun smoothens his suit to regain his lost composure back. “They know what they’re getting themselves into, I’m not forcing them.”

“You force them to sign those contracts, and you’re making it hard for them to escape.”

“It’s an easy job, once you pass the emotional stage.”

“Well, Mina never got pass that and you’re killing her.”

“Correction…” Seunghyun pointed out “She got pass it, then you just have come along and ruin it for her.”

Chaeyoung clenches her fist tightly trying to remain calm as she was seconds away from punching him.

“Fine. Then, we’re both hurting her.” Chaeyoung admitted “But this is not the life she wanted, and I will do everything that I can to take her away from you.”

“She’s bind to a contract, you of all people should know that being a lawyer. She signed that contract Ms. Son, so if there is anyone else you should blame, it’s Mina not me.”

Chaeyoung stayed quiet but Seunghyun could see her back heaving angrily.

“I want to see that contract.”

“You need to ask Mi-“

“I’m her lawyer now show me that contract.” She snaps back

Seunghyun was getting irritated with Chaeyoung’s determination. But as he looks at her it was obvious she won’t be leaving anytime soon.

He reaches out for a drawer underneath his desk and pulls out a folder. He gingerly pushes it over for Chaeyoung to read.

Chaeyoung scans a few lines and reads it over again before she clears .

“I’m buying out her contract.”

Seunghyun raise his brow coolly.

“I think I need to point out the price.” Seunghyun simply points at the absurd amount at the bottom of Mina’s contract.

But Chaeyoung didn’t even flinch at the price of it…

“You have nothing to worry about with the money.”

“You need to think this through. I can’t have anyone backing away from this kind of transaction.”

“I’m true to my words and if you still have any doubts if I could pay you. I could show you my paycheck to assure you that I will always have enough to pay you back.”

Seunghyun scowls at her, but Chaeyoung wasn’t the least bit intimidated. This was long overdue, it was time to put an end to it.

“Mina is worth more to me than anything, even if I have to pay my everything, I will.”

Seunghyun let out a defeated sigh. He would miss Mina, but there’s more girls out there just waiting to be discovered.

“I’ll make it right now.”

*

Sana could see Mina trailing behind her, dragging herself as they go to a hotel room.

This happens every once in a while, Seunghyun would land a wealthy client who have some of being with two of his best women. It was Sana and Mina, Mina was throwing up the first time they did it, but soon after, Mina learn the tricks of the professionals making her one of the favorites of the rich and famous.

Mina breaks to a halt when her phone starts ringing. She turns to the name surprisingly, before picking it up.

“Seunghyun we’re almost there.”

“No. you leave. Tell Sana to leave, I’m going to send other girls there.”

Mina looks confusedly at Sana, but Sana doesn’t have the answers too.

“B-but why?”

“Because you’re fired.”

Mina could hardly contain her breathing as she heard Seunghyun, getting fired doesn’t just mean she’s finally out of this job, it also meant she was finally free.

She wanted to ask why and how it happened. But for her it doesn’t seem to matter…

“T-thank you…”

Mina didn’t know if it was appropriate to say it, and she’s not even sure if Seunghyun is deserving of it. But right now, it was all behind her and the only thing she could feel right now is gratitude.

“Thank you.”

*

Mina didn’t care if her heels break from running, she needed to get out of the hotel. She was multitasking that very second, running while fumbling on her phone as she scrolls down for Chaeyoung’s number.

It rang and rang but nobody was picking up. It broke her heart a bit. She start to call again as she was going out the hotel lobby, but again it went straight to voicemail.

“You don’t need to call me.”

Mina looks up and sees Chaeyoung leaning against her car with that playful smile on her face.

“You don’t need to call me, I’m right here…” The playful smile dissolved into a sweet one…

Mina didn’t care if her heels broke she was going to run to Chaeyoung’s arms. And Mina didn’t care if she ends up falling down, she’s pretty sure Chaeyoung would catch her anyway.

“It’s over, Chaeng…”

Chaeyoung took a step closer, cupping Mina’s cheeks. She connects their foreheads together, smiling thankfully…

“I know, love…”

Chaeyoung then leans closer and press a loving kiss on Mina’s lips.

“Let’s go home…”

*

After a few months…

Rosé just came home from a charity event, she got endless offers and proposals but she easily shrugs them off. She reasons out she was busy, what she really means is she wasn’t ready.

It was 2 am and she was tired as hell. She should have just asks her driver to pick up her coffee, but she needed to breathe some fresh air anyway. So, she walks in to the quaint coffeeshop.

Seeing her was unexpected, but it was a welcomed feeling. She missed seeing her. She haven’t seen Chaeyoung in months, but she could still recognize her from a mile away. She was standing behind her in line and Chaeyoung was just waiting right there, softly humming while patiently waiting her turn.

Rosé couldn’t help but smile bitterly, Chaeyoung never hums when they were together.

“Rosé?”

“Chaeng? Ummm hey…”

Chaeyoung didn’t greet her with words, but instead she wraps her in an embrace. An embrace Rosé tries so hard to hold on to.

“How have you been?” Chaeyoung asks…

“Ugh… busy…” Rosé groans, trying to put up a front that she didn’t miss her.

“I just came from the charity ball, I hardly see you anymore.”

Chaeyoung shrugs casually… “Yeah, been busy… and those things weren’t my thing anyway.”

Rosé knew it, but it didn’t stop her from always dragging Chaeyoung to those events. Rosé realized that she never cared about how Chaeyoung feels. She was too busy showing off Chaeyoung to the world. Now that she thought about it, she never asked Chaeyoung what she wanted…

“You by yourself?”

“Oh no… ummm…” Chaeyoung stops before she could finish anything. “Mina is here…”

Rosé smiles bitterly once again, What else could she do? Stay vindictive and act vengeful and all?

“You’re still together?”

Chaeyoung didn’t answer right away, but based on the sweet smile on her face it was obvious how happy she was. It made Rosé wonder if there was ever a time that she could make Chaeyoung smile like that.

“Here’s your order miss…”

“Thank you…” Chaeyoung bows politely while taking two cups of hot coffee. “It was good seeing you.”

“You too…”

Rosé watches Chaeyoung walk away, until she went slide in the booth.

“One cup of white chocolate frappucino please…”

Rosé ordered while she gets some bills from her wallet.

“Oh miss” The barista hold out her hand to stop her “Your pretty friend already paid for it.”

She just let out a defeated smile, that simply Chaeyoung still knew how to make her heart flutter.

“Okay…”

She walks to the door, taking careful steps so she could take a look at Chaeyoung, even for a bit longer. She wanted to say goodbye, but when she heard how loud Chaeyoung was laughing, she decided not to bother. She saw a glimpse of Chaeyoung, her arms wrap around Mina but Chaeyoung didn’t even notice her.

Everyone took a glance over Rosé’s way as she walks out the coffeeshop, everyone except the one that really matters.

“CRAP!”

Rosé howls in irritation as someone just bumped into to her. She quickly scowled at the other girl who bumps into her, but the brown haired girl had an equally menacing glare. She recognize the other girl, it was no other than Lisa an equally famous fixture in the social scene.

“You should buy me a new cup.” Lisa demanded.

“You should buy me one too…” Rosé retorted back.

Lisa just smiles smugly before answering.

“Sounds fair.”

Chaeyoung hated her job simple as that. Long hours and high stress levels that she have to deal everyday of her life that’s why she’s not going to be surprise if she dies early…

But she was surprised that it suddenly grew too quiet. She turns over to her couch and realizes why, her gorgeous lover have fallen asleep, books slipping off the couch and that tongue playfully sticking out.

Chaeyoung couldn’t help but wonder what Mina’s clients might have thought when they woke up and sees Mina sticking her tongue out in her sleep.

She and Mina are hardly ever apart. Mina would always stay over her office if she had to work late, just so they could go home together, or if Chaeyoung ends work early, she goes to pick Mina up from school.

It sounded so simple, like any other easygoing relationships and they were contented about this. The happiness that they have in each other every second of the day, was worth of everything they have went through.

She went over Mina so she could cover her up. She was hoping Mina could catch a few more minutes of sleep, but Mina starts to slowly wake up.

“Go back to sleep…” Chaeyoung murmurs tenderly… “I’m almost done here…”

“Ummm…” Mina mumbles sleepily before her eyes starts drooping again.

Chaeyoung runs her fingers in Mina’s hair, soothing the other girl to return to sleep. Chaeyoung couldn’t help but smile as she gazes at Mina. Mina looks a bit different now from the first time they saw each other. Of course she was still devastatingly beautiful, but nowadays she looks more human.

She didn’t wear as much makeup as she did before. But now Chaeyoung think that Mina have never really needed any makeup, she was just so beautiful like this.

Mina also gain a bit of weight, (dating her meant they ate a lot together) but Chaeyoung loves running her fingers on her curves more.

But no matter how many things might change, Chaeyoung knew that what she feels will only grow more.

“You’re going on that business trip this week…” Mina says sadly, twirling Chaeyoung’s hair around her finger “I’m going to miss you…”

Chaeyoung smiles affectionately before rubbing their noses together.

“I’ll call you every single day, we could skype too at night… I’ll miss you too… But I’ll be back in a week…”

That might work to cover the distance, but it will never make up for it.

“Remember before?” Mina mumbles sleepily…

“Be specific…”

Mina rolls her eyes at Chaeyoung’s sarcasm…

“You ask me if I ever did it in the office?” Mina says teasingly, even with her eyes close she could imagine Chaeyoung blushing madly.

Chaeyoung hates it how Mina was making her blush like crazy…

“It was out of curiosity…. AHHHHH… MINA!” Chaeyoung squeals when Mina pulls her down the couch with her.

“So?”

It was just one word out of Mina, but Chaeyoung could instantly feel her hair stand out.

“Where would you like to do it, Ms. Son?” Mina could feel Chaeyoung working down a gulp as she sinks her teeth on her neck.

“W-what do you mean?” Chaeyoung stutters embarrassingly.

Mina’s lip curves into a seductive smile while her fingers slowly made her way to Chaeyoung’s chest. She press kisses up Chaeyoung’s neck until she reaches her ear.

“Would you like to do it on the table or here?”

Mina’s words felt like a bolt of lightning smiting Chaeyoung to pieces.

“Ummm… both?”

Mina responded to Chaeyoung’s request with a laugh, although she was game in doing it in both places. Chaeyoung turns to the table then to the girl hovering over her, the table is a few seconds too far, and Chaeyoung didn’t have the patience for that. She needed Mina badly, she needed Mina now.

“Is this my goodbye gift?” Chaeyoung teases…

“Let’s just say something to remember me by…”

It took a few kisses to made Chaeyoung realize that Mina was really a Goddess. Every inch of skin that Mina touch felt like it was burning, her caresses could easily possessed her. And the things they both did that night, it was just not humanly possible…

*

“Morning Mina…”

Momo greets the gorgeous girl who just walks in the break room.

“Morning… Not so busy today?”

Mina asks while getting pouring herself a cup of coffee.

“It would be… There are always people to help…”

Mina nods in agreement. She met Momo while she was taking some courses in college. Along with Jihyo, they help put up a woman’s shelter. Mina believes her experience no matter how horrible it might have been, help her reach out to other people. To let them accept their past.

The world that she belongs now doesn’t have the glamor or the intrigue that it once had. But she likes this more, the peace and the feeling of finally belonging somewhere is better than anything that money can buy.

“So, when is Chaeyoung coming home?”

Momo could obviously see a difference in Mina when Chaeyoung is around. Although Mina still talks, she is obviously a bit lifeless.

“Tomorrow…”

“See?” Momo reassures her. “Nothing to worry about. Oh yeah… by the way, you got a present.”

“A present?”

Mina eyes Momo in trepidation, Momo was always the mischievous one, Mina need to be careful not to fall for Momo’s little tricks.

“It’s by the front lobby… I can’t believe you miss it… Go check it out…”

*

Mina didn’t even make it to the front desk, when Jihyo is already pointing to the basket behind her.

“That’s for you…”

“What is it?”

“Stop asking and just look at it…”

Momo yells out from behind Mina.

Mina walks carefully to the basket, she couldn’t explain to why her heart felt like it was about to explode. She looks at it and couldn’t stop her tears from falling. Not because she was sad, not at all, but because she was happy. very happy that the best way to express her happiness was not through words, but through her tears.

Mina coos softly at the adorable fluffy brown chow chow puppy sleeping inside its basket.

“Do you like her?”

Mina looks up and standing right there with a nervous look on her face and three long stem roses in hand was the most beautiful girl Mina have ever seen.

“You’re back…” Mina and Chaeyoung almost squeeze the puppy in their embrace.

Being apart from each other was the worst thing that happen to them in their relationship, but they could only guess that it wasn’t all that bad, because nothing felt as good as holding each other once again.

“I…I love her…”

Chaeyoung pats the puppy’s head, smiling dopily to the girl in front of her. Mina sets the puppy back to the basket. She took Chaeyoung’s hand in hers, playfully fiddling with it.

They were locked in a loving gaze for a little bit, but none of it mattered to them. The silence felt like everything is finally falling in their right places.

“You’re going to make people just fall madly for you…” Mina admitted.

Chaeyoung just replied to Mina with a smile. Mina should not worry about anything at all because for Chaeyoung it wasn’t even a choice.

They could all fall for her, but in the end she will only fall for one.

*

Chaeyoung let out a sigh of relief that for once she watched where she was stepping. It wasn’t her fault their- or more of Mina’s dog looks like a fluffy rug rather than a dog.

She gently pushes the puppy away from the door with her foot, but that darn puppy squeaked running to the girl in the kitchen for protection.

“Pffft…” Chaeyoung snorts as she watches the pup run away. If a robber now comes to her home, the dog would end up running to them than keeping their house safe.

“Chaeyoung…”

Chaeyoung knows the meaning in Mina’s tone of voice perfectly.

“Yeah?”

Chaeyoung smiles innocently, trying to ignore the frown in Mina’s face.

“What did you do? Did you kick her?”

“What? no…. I just push her with my foot…”

Mina gasps in horror, quickly cooing lovingly at the puppy. Chaeyoung now regrets buying her the puppy, as it obviously stole the attention that should be given to her.

Chaeyoung playfully throws a chew toy on the floor, making the puppy squirm out of Mina’s arms, jumping down to attack the chew toy.

“I will never choose a chew toy over you…”

Mina tries to keep a straight face, but the playful smile in Chaeyoung’s face was just too infectious. Within seconds, both girls started bursting out laughing.

“CHAEYOUNG!”

Mina was caught off guard, when Chaeyoung just lifted her off her feet, carrying her back to their bedroom.

“What? Don’t you think this is romantic?”

*

“Mina?”

Chaeyoung could be quite an insensitive kid sometimes. They hardly had any sleep last night and a few hours later, here is Chaeyoung again patting her to wake up.

“Mina…”

Even if she was half asleep, Mina could hear the sound of pleading in Chaeyoung’s voice.

“I’m sleepy...”

Chaeyoung was a top ranking lawyer, that it made Mina giggle secretly to hear the top lawyer negotiating with a cute whine.

Mina turns around and gives Chaeyoung a smile. And Chaeyoung smiles happily, it was 4:15 and her wish was granted. She crawls slowly on top of her lover but Chaeyoung ended up making an adorable squeal as Mina surprisingly roll on top of her.

“Mina, you’re so unfair…” Chaeyoung says breathlessly, her words starting to trail the second Mina’s hand starts possessing every inch of her.

“And why am I being unfair?”

But Mina being the expert in Chaeyoung’s needs knows perfectly how to shush her lover. She let Chaeyoung’s words trail into a line of moans and gasps. She lets Chaeyoung cling to her helplessly as she pierced into her mercilessly…

At 4:32 am This isn’t how Chaeyoung expected it to be, she wanted it to be her making Mina tremble, her making Mina scream… But she couldn’t even tell her body to move, her every shiver was dictated by what Mina was doing to her…

Mina was being so unfair…

At 4:58 Chaeyoung and Mina are both breathless from their love… They were exhausted and seconds away from falling asleep but they still wanted some more…

But instead of surrendering to their lust, they surrendered in their love. They knew that they don’t have to make love just to feel that they care. With Mina just going to sleep in Chaeyoung’s chest was just perfect.

Chaeyoung turns toward their digital clock, it was almost 5 am and she could see Mina slowly drifting off to sleep.

And Chaeyoung just smile as she sees the clock blinking every second… Every second just brings them closer to their future… and every second takes them further from their past.

Their past…

Just thinking about their past made Chaeyoung unconsciously pulled Mina closer, pressing her lips in Mina’s forehead…

Their experience together were harrowing and painful, their moments apart were worse and torturous…

Again, the thought of their past made Chaeyoung wrap her arms tightly around Mina, her lips never leaving Mina’s skin…

The only thing that soothes her was when she saw the clock continually blinking. It reminded her that the past was behind them now. Despite of the scar it left and the regret it etched, they survived it.

She carefully tilts Mina’s chin up, careful not to wake her up. She kisses Mina’s parted lips and making a silent promise…

I’ll never leave you again…

Mina slowly bats her eyes, waking to the sweet taste of Chaeyoung’s lips.

“I love you…” Chaeyoung whispers with a kiss…

“I love you more…” Mina whispers back…

Their lips caress in a sweet kiss again, their arms tangled and their bodies intertwined…

The girls didn’t realize the clock striking at 5 am as they were lost in each other…

Its not like it matters to them…

With the lovers still entrance in each other, the only thing that matters is that when the clock strikes at 5 am…

It will mark the start of their forever…
