When You're Ready
Description
Da Hye was not the kind of girl who could sit still. She was not the kind of girl who waits for Prince Charming. She was unstoppable, she was bold, she was never afraid to speak her mind. She was also, in love. And a girl like her, naturally, she had to let him know immediately. Kim Jong Dae had to know... he was everything she ever wanted.
Foreword
Have you ever stared directly into the sun?
It was a mesmerizing feeling, to be in the presence of such incomparable source of light and warmth. It was impossible not to stare. It was impossible not to be in awe.
But maybe that was just me. Because I was reckless enough to stare. Because I was foolishly bold enough to try go towards that blinding beauty.
I only just found out his name not long ago, but that very second, I had realized I like the sound of that name falling out of my lips.
“Kim Jong Dae.”
He looked up from his phone, meeting my stare with a curious look. Of course, he would. He didn’t know who I was.
“Da Hye… right?” A friendly smile appeared on that handsome face, and I swore I stopped breathing.
I didn’t think he knew my name, but why was I surprised? He was perfect like that, wasn’t he?
“Yea.” I replied, cringing a little at how nervous I sounded. Shaking my head slightly, I straightened up and approached him with quick steps. “I have something to tell you.”
He was still smiling, as he slid his phone into his pocket, focusing his entire attention on me. The lawn outside the library was quiet, it was too cold for most people to be outdoors. Yet I was certain, my hands were not shaking because of the weather. But it was too good for a moment to pass up.
Jong Dae was alone.
Here goes nothing.
“I… like you.”
“Excuse me?”
He caught his expression well, as though he was worried that being too surprised would come off as a rather rude response to what I just blurt out. Pretending not to see the way his eyes widening, I pushed on.
“I like you, Kim Jong Dae.”
“Oh.” This time, he let slip a lost look of bewilderment as he scrambled for a better response. “Thank you… I, erm…”
Oh gosh. He was too cute.
“It’s alright.” I grinned, feeling less nervous than earlier. “I know. I'm not asking you a question, so you don’t have to try so hard to give me an answer.”
He looked very confused now and I took a step backwards, my fingers tightening around the straps of my backpack.
“I was just trying to let you know. Just in case.”
“Just in case?” Jong Dae questioned.
“Just in case if you are looking for a girlfriend, I want to be sure that you know I am here.”
“Da Hye…”
I took another step back, deciding I wasn’t going to stay around to torment the poor boy any further. Waving a hand, I beamed brightly at him again.
“Remember! I am right here when you’re ready!”
