the story of calypso, if you don't already know it (simplified, and possibly incorrect, because i never bothered to google it): sana (calypso) is banished to an island for eternity. she can never leave. but the worst part of her curse is that every time a hero washes up on her shore, she falls in love with them—and then she's forced to watch them leave, one by one, because they always have somewhere else to be, somewhere else to go, someone else to save.

and all sana wishes is that someone would come save her, too.
