Description

Irene only knows one thing: emotions are prohibited. (a nier:automata au)

Foreword

After all the laughter fades

Signs of life all washed away

I can still, still feel a gentle breeze

No matter how hard I pray

Signs of warning still remain

And life has become my enemy

this was in my ao3 ending notes and i forgot to post it on here but yeah the ending could be vague for people who never played the game, but i wanted to ask if people coul find out as to why irene needed to do that.

///spoiler?? for the game and also this?///

god doesn't exist.

*thinking*

Chapter 1: That ending was confusing, I kinda get the no god well no humanity, so if there's no humanity the androids wouldn't have any purpose, but what's up with the machines? And if Wendy was developing emotions why reset her to have her have feelings all over again, same with irene ? I don't understand *cries* you're doing great promo to this game, maybe i'll play it or do some research and found out answers but thank you for the story :)

Chapter 1: I really enjoyed reading this story and the scene at the beach was heartbreaking. I've never played the games so I'm a little confused by the ending. Why partner Wendy and Irene together again when it seems really likely that history will repeat itself? Has Irene proven her loyalty to the cause enough that the commander felt that it would be alright for them to work together again? Or do they want her to wipe Wendy's memory again when she (inevitably) develops emotions again, hence very cruelly trapping Irene in a loop of continuously wiping Wendy's memory?

For the androids, Irene said that humanity is their god. God doesn't exist = humanity doesn't exist? Irene thinks that mankind had fled to the moon, so are they actually on the moon letting the androids fight their war for them or are they already dead? Do the androids not have contact with mankind but are just assuming that they are alive? If humanity is gone then what is stopping the androids from abandoning their rules about feeling emotions etc.?

I think the setting of this story is really interesting! Maybe I'll have to check out the game to get more info about this haha. Thank you for writing this story and sharing it with us!

Chapter 1: I know this story is long already but I want more. I have so many questions that need to be answered hahaha nah but really, I just wonder if the reason why SW was the last one to get out of the bunker was because she has something in her and they wanted to test and see if she's really different and when they finally proved that she was, they decided to reset her to maybe, develop her more? and now that she's okay they let her be with JH again this time?

Ahhh, I'm confused hahaha but thank you for sharing this story with us.

Chapter 1: I kinda don't get the ending. They wanted her to erase Wendy's memory so she did even though it broke her supposedly heart and yet they want her to work with Wendy again?
