To the DawnPeople don’t want the truth when something supernatural happens. Seungkwan and Vernon both tried to tell the truth of the matter, but when it was clear that they were just seen as suffering from some sort of shock, they stopped trying. They spent nearly a week in the neighboring hospital town, Vernon in the hospital and Seungkwan in a hotel, meeting with police and talking to the media as much as he could stomach.
The man and his daughter had met up with an ambulance on the way to the hospital, and because of that they were able to save her life. The man came to visit Vernon at the hospital, and he finally admitted that he too hadn’t been believed about the supernatural possession. He hadn’t been too comfortable with the two of them, though Seungkwan could understand that - it as their friend who had caused the carnage, after all. But he thanked them several times for all they had done and when leaving, he had paused in the doorway before apologizing for their own loss. That had hurt.
After four days Seungkwan had gotten up the courage to return to the cave, hiking down to the lake on his own. He knew that he shouldn’t ever go hiking alone, especially as a novice, but he couldn’t chance someone else finding that cursed object. And his hunch was right - the knife was back on the pedestal, glowing green and sending out whispers of glory and riches and strength to help others. That made him angry, though, and he hefted the object
