CHAPTER 5

Mina stretched lazily on the comfortable bed, searching for the warm body of someone  beside her. She yawned and fluttered her eyes open as the ray of sunlight seeping a little on the tiny portion of the glass window that is uncovered by the thick curtain.

Her eyes being the vampire she was squinted at the bright light. It did not hurt her but she was a bit sensitive to it.  Since Dahyun always worked in the morning and not unfortunately, not at night where she can be most active. Mina was able to adjust and make her daily routine similar to the doctor. She got up lazily and went to the bathroom to do her basic necessities then, brush her teeth before going down to the kitchen where she expected Dahyun was at.

And there she was, cooking for breakfast making Mina's favorite pancake. Mina just silently leaned on the door frame watching the young girl do her thing.

Dahyun sensing that someone was watching her from behind then turn around. She then let out a big smile towards Mina as she pour a cup of coffee and place it on the table for the older girl to take. 

"Good morning, had enough sleep?" Dahyun greeted as she drink from her mug but then regretted it. 

Mina just laughed at the young girl and shook her head. "Trying to look older by drinking Coffee huh?"

"Well I tried. But I dont really like the bitter taste of coffee. It is just meh" Dahyun reason out as she stick her tongue out at the distasteful taste. 

She then prepare a hot choco for her ownself. Mina just silently watch the girl before the two settled down to eat their breakfast.

"So about last night..." Dahyun stated opening the topic.

Mina clearly amused by the nervousness of the girl in front of her decided to . 

"What about last night exactly? The part we made out in the living room or carrying your whole body towards the bedroom as your legs encircled my waist while making out?" Mina send not so innocently.

Remembering what had transpired last night made Dahyun blushed and throw some of the grapes towards Mina as a way to retort back.

"Why do you always say something so straightforward? At least make it subtle you idiot!" Dahyun said still hiding from embarassment.

Mina laughed and leaned forward on the table as she rested her face in the palm of her hand looking at her with playful admiration.

"I could get used to this kind of morning" Mina said not hiding her wide smile.

Dahyun albeit a bit surprise with the honest confession smiled and admitted silently that she also could not deny the fact that she too liked this kind of morning with Mina. Hence, she brought back to the topic she really wanted to talk about.

"Ahem, so going back from last night. I still haven't heard your answer. Would you be ok if you move in with me ? It saves the time and almost of your things are here anyway" Dahyun rattled trying to explain it in a practical manner like it really mattered anyway.

Mina clearly amused just laughed again. Dahyun can sometimes be multifaceted. She could be this sweet , lovable innocent being and then , the next she became this unknowingly calculative, intelligent and sharp woman who knew how to work things out in her favor.

It was never a dull moment with Dahyun. Hence, even if Dahyun did not really set up an invitation to live together, Mina had already decided for the two of them - and that was she will always be the one to grasp Dahyun's world.

It took a few weeks and several arguments before a vaccine was fully developed. Dahyun together with Mina who serves as her company in the laboratory had spent their time in the medical facility administering test and studying the blood samples Dahyun had taken from her body.

Dr Hong attempted to extend help but with the hostility and possessiveness Mina was showing, no one attempted to get near to Dahyun.

Upon finishing the research, Dahyun called for the meeting and almost all the officials of the Common Kingdom were present clearly intrigue with the new development that was discovered.

Dahyun presented this idea of producing a DNA Vaccinacion. It will be an experimental approach to vaccination wherein the vampire venom which is considered as the infectious agent will be use as a component to combine with the transmembrane helix a 17-25 amino acids that conforms an α‐helix- which was taken from the blood sample. 

Once injected to the victim it will generate and some cells of the immune system that recognize the two components will mount an attack instantly against the venom. However, side affects are still unknown but it could be taken in moderation with 1 time administration a year after the injection.

Too much insertion of the vaccine component may trigger to death.

Clearly enough with the introduction of the new vaccine, it was indeed proven that the number of cases in regards with the problematic Nosferatus were reduced. 

And with that result, Dahyun was given a special position beside Chaeyoung and Cha Seung Won in the council much to the young girl's dismay and Son Hak Gyu insistence.

"Well you brought it upon yourself, Dahyun-ah. You had shown to this people that mighty brain of yours and hallelujah , you are deemed as a new scientific nerd hero" Mina exclaimed lightly as she drank her red wine.

The two were eating in a fancy restaurant just chilling as the sun finally sets to rest. 

"Seriously, I think I am gonna file for an indefinite leave in the office  and just isolate myself in my room" Dahyun said dramatically said especially remembering how Dr Hong shook her hands earlier to congratulate her about the position . The way the doctor looked at her like he was devouring her to infinite possibility of experiments.

Suddenly, a chair was hear being dragged towards to their table and there she was, Son Chaeyoung who sat in between the two of them in a round table. Son Chaeyoung motioned to the onlookers who were surprise by noise to continue what they were doing with a dismisal hand motion.

"Wow, talk about human manners?" Mina muttered sipping her wine.

Chaeyoung rolled her eyes at the vampire and looked at Dahyun whose eyes was too wide from the sudden appearance of her best friend.

"You look like an idiot" Chaeyoung said towards her . Dahyun then faked a cough composing herself.

"Just what are you doing here Chaeyoung?" Dahyun asked.

"I am here with my IOU. A friendly date to get to know your lovely date" Chaeyoung explained forcing a welcome smile towards Mina.

As much as she did not like being associated with the royal vampire, she had to admit that she was thankful that Mina was there with Dahyun while conducting the vaccine experiment. If not, some of the officials will take an interest to Dahyun's blood. She was also curious too but as long as Dahyun was on the side of the greater good she won't divulge too much on as to what so special in her blood.
