If only (3/3)
Anthology"Hi..." she replies with a smile.
For a moment they sat in silence, waiting for the other to speak first. She her lips slowly, savoring the lingering flavor of her booze before putting her glass on the table.
"How are..."
"What's..."
She turned to him with a grin on her face. When their eyes met, they broke in laughter. After a minute or two, he smiled at her. "Ladies first,"
She smiles, "How are you? How's life treating you?"
"I've never been better. I work in one of the biggest hospitals here in Seoul,"
"That's good. I remember you told me you've always wanted to be a pediatrician. Do the kids like you?" she jested.
He chuckles, "It's not my place to say, but I'd like to think that they do,"
She giggles while shaking her head.
"How about you? H-how are you?"
"I just arrived from Melbourne, just for a short vacation. Then I'm going back for my masters."
His ears perked up hearing the news. He wished to say something but dared not to. She shakes her head when she caught his eyes. Still the same old Yonghwa who is easy to read.
"I'm sorry..."
His head turns to look at her, his brows slightly furrowed. "What are you sorry for?"
"For what happened four years ago,"
She watches as the creases on his face slowly disappear, "It doesn't matter anymore, Joohyun-ah. If it helps, what happened in the past both encouraged us to be the best version of ourselves."
