The Love Forgotten

“Hmmm. This is delicious!” I gushed excitedly to the baker, thinking how my fiancée would love this cake for our wedding day. It is a three-tiered chocolate cake covered in white fondant with sakura petals scattered all over in various volumes across the cake. The top tier had 2 figurines in their wedding attire holding each other and behind the figurines were the letters ‘S & M’, symbolizing our first names. Nothing grandeur, really, we prefer to keep it all simple but everything holds a great value, because every little things matter if it involves the two of us.

He’ll love this. I can’t wait for him to see this. The thought alone makes me smile to myself.

Flashback

I close the book that I was currently reading when the smell of something burning lingers across the room. I started to panic and hastily ran out of my room to follow the burnt smell that made me start to cough as I pick up my phone to dial the emergency number. The foul smell led me to the kitchen and what I saw left me dumbfounded.

It was none other than Saku, with his apron on, covered in flour, holding the fire extinguisher in front of a burning ‘cake’ or whatever that thing was supposed to be.

“What on earth are you doing, Saku?!” I exclaimed rather loudly, surprised at the current situation on hand.

“B-baking?” He just sheepishly grinned at me, firing the extinguisher towards the cake once more and I couldn't help but shut my eyes tightly as I facepalm myself.

As I was putting away the kitchen equipments, I glanced at Saku who is now sitting at the dining table looking at the burnt-extinguished cake before him, sulking. I walked over to where he is and placed a hand on his back. He turned to face me and gave me that cute pouting face of his.

“I wanted to bake a cake to surprise you on our first anniversary.” He started explaining, looking frustrated at what happened.

“Oh. Believe me, I was surprised, alright.” I chuckled at him earning an even more dejected look on his face. Sensing the need to comfort him, I leaned down and gave him a quick peck on the lips.

“Don’t worry, having you is enough already.” And from there, that charming smile of his crawls on his pink, irresistible lips.

End of Flashback

A smile crept up to my face remembering what had happened during our first anniversary. That day, we ended up buying a cake instead even when he was so stubborn in trying to convince me that he’ll try making it again but I didn’t budge saying I would never live with him in the future if he tried to burn the dorm down again.

My phone rang snapping me out of my thoughts, I fished my phone out of my bag and saw the caller ID causing yet a bigger smile to curl on my lips.

“Hey, honey.” I answered without breaking a sweat, I could hear him yawning over the phone. I'm guessing he slept throughout the whole meeting once again, and yet he keeps on complaining how exhausted his work is.

The audacity of this man.

“So? How was the cake? Did you get to try it? Is it delicious? Is it chocolate flavored? Please tell me it's chocolate flavored!” He started bombarding me with questions obviously equally nervous with the preparation, I couldn't help but chuckle as I picture him pouting cutely.

“Relax, it's all been taken cared of. Our pastry chef is one of the best, we should trust her and no it's not chocolate flavored.” I give a playful wink at the chef who just shook her head smiling.

“But-”

“No buts.” I cut him off and I chuckled, contented with the teasings when I hear him sigh over the phone.

“I’ll be on my way for our dinner in a bit. I just wanna pass by the venue first and check if everything is perfect or if there's any need for improvisations.” I continued.

“But honey, we have the wedding coordinator to do that for us.” He complained, his voice starting to sound a bit irritated and impatient.

“Yes, I know. But I just want to make sure, okay? I promise I won’t be late for our dinner.” I said in a very assuring tone hoping to convince him.

“Fine.” I squeal in delight to myself hearing him agree.

“But you’re paying for dinner if you’re even just a second late.” I heard him and I faked a gasped expression for him to hear, making him laugh. Hearing that, my heart begins to beat erratically.

God I am so in love with this man.

“I’m kidding. Text me when you get there, I'll try to charm Eunbi noona so she could give me a pass to skip this gruesome meeting with Mr. Lee and fetch you there. I swear I can't stand another minute alone with him talking about his nonsense proposal. This guy just won't give up, I've rejected his offer countless of times already!" He whines, emphasizing the word 'gruesome' making me stifle a laugh.

“Thanks but I'd rather have you suffer over there. I'll see you later but for the mean time enjoy your date with Mr. Lee, be nice! I love you.” I said in my sweetest voice but the first few sentences made him groan in frustration.

“You're heartless and I will never forgive you but I love you too. Take care alright? It's quite rainy today.” With that, we both hung up. I placed my phone inside my bag and bid my goodbyes to the baker as I head out to the streets, getting ready to hail a cab.

When a cab driver pulled over in front of me, I got in and gave him the venue for our wedding reception. He started driving after I gave him the address then.

Looking over the window, I smile as I reminisce the day when Saku finally had the courage to ask my hand for marriage.

Flashback

The sun rays passes through the curtains shining directly against Minjoo's eyes. The pink haired girl rolls over on the other side of the bed, her hands desperately searching for a certain someone. Unable to find the presence she was looking for, the lass slowly flutters her eyes open, unaware of the frown forming on her lips.

She sighs. Another morning came without her boyfriend right by her side. As much as she hates to admit it, the beauty knows that she and Saku are slowly drifting apart from each other. That thought alone causes an unpleasant tugging on her heartstrings.

She hates it, Minjoo hates it and she's afraid of the thought that after six years of being together, the brown haired guy had finally gotten tired of them, of her. Finally having had enough thoughts in her mind, she shook her head to brush those negative thoughts aside, feeling hopeful and reaches for her phone, only to be disappointed once again.

None. Not even a single good morning. In denial, the beauty searched through her contacts and dialed her lover's number. It rings the first time, the second time, the third, up to countless of times but still, nothing.

Giving up and still refusing to believe the truth about the status of their relationship, the pink haired girl fixes herself and made her way to Yuri's not-so-peaceful home right across theirs. She barges inside without bothering to knock and groogily drops her frame on the couch.

"Jesus Christ she startled me! Oi Kim Minjoo what are you doing here?" Yehan asks with his hands placed over his chest.

"Well why don't you ask your best man? He's been going MIA for a couple of weeks now and this frog thinks he's tired of their relationship." Yuri casually said as if it's the most common thing to say while sipping her cup of tea.

"For crying out loud give him a break, maybe he just needs some time off. At least he's not cheating on you, right?" His tone sounded a bit agitated, making Yuri's eye
