“Hey.” The feathery brush of lips across her forehead. “Morning.” Another one right on the bridge of her nose. “Sleepyhead.” Her cheek. “Wake up.” The very corner of , lingering there like the last fragment of a dream.

Jessica opens her eyes. She sleeps with the blinds tightly shut, but she’s greeted with a sight brighter than the sun. Tiffany’s smile, sweet, warm, more than what the cameras can try to capture, than what Jessica’s dreams can try to recreate.

“Hi,” she says, her voice slightly hoarse. “Morning.”

Tiffany leans back slightly, blinking. “That was easier than I expected.”

“What?”

“Waking you up. I was prepared to have to come in with a megaphone.”

“Don’t you have one built into your throat?”

Tiffany scowls, and Jessica laughs, reaches out and pokes her cheek, until she gives in and smiles too, and Jessica leans in to chase that smile with her own mouth.

Mornings have never tasted so sweet.
