"But you? You left me and Yujin alone."

"If you really want that, you should also tell Yudings how you pulled her into playing that stupid hide and seek, left her after and didn't even helped by saying anything."

"Bold of you to assume that she's yours. Yujin is not yours... In fact, nothing is you-"

"Ah!" Chaewon screamed, her punches landing on the helpless speedball. She suddenly stopped, panting. Hearing those words from Hyewon... Why does it look like I wanted this? Why does it look like she wished for this to happen?

The gossips, the secrets, everything we knew about the heiress tells us that she's not the best in terms of attitude, but Chaewon herself disagrees. She strongly believes that she's not a monster, she's not a bad person to begin with. Just like any other, she is just a human who makes mistakes... She's just a girl stuck between circumstances.

Kim Myungsoo and Kwon Nayoung, heir and heiress of the most powerful companies in the country at that time. To expand their area of power, the families agreed to marry the two. The union seemed to be successful, they even had an offspring... Kim Chaewon.

Even though born popular and powerful, the lad had a happy childhood. She did experience playing with dolls and cooking sets because her Mom and Dad want her to experience things that normal kids do. Their other relatives insisted on teaching her the basics of their businesses but her parents never agreed.

She had a memory of having a mini picnic beside the river, bringing lunch to your Dad while he's at the office, singing and dancing for his officemates, and of course, having childhood friends. She thought that it's like that forever... She didn't know that her life will take a huge turn.

Chaewon heaved a sigh. She took off her half fingers boxing gloves and just threw it on the floor. She doesn't worry about losing it since she's the only one inside of this huge reserved boxing gym. She grabbed water, sat down on the corner, and drank. After hydrating herself, the heiress just stayed on her position, rethinking all her decisions.

Unexpectedly, a tear escaped her left eyes. When she noticed it, Chaewon immediately sniffed and wiped it. The ability to cry surprised her, she didn't expect that she can still feel emotions. The last time she remembered herself crying was when she left Yujin... And the days after that.

The heiress leaned on the wall and closed her eyes. Even though she wanted to forget everything, she can't do anything but recall the bitter memories. It's a scar in her heart that'll never be erased.

The Kim Family might look like a perfect one. She was raised well by her Mom and Dad, her parents are always there to support her. But Myungsoo and Nayoung themselves? Now that Chaewon's thinking it, it's clearer than water that her parents aren't really on good terms. They might act so lovey-dovey when there are family reunions but at home, all they ever did was to fight.

That day, Chaewon got tired of all the shouts so she decided to get her mind off it and play with her friends. She got curious about the 'haunted' mansion so she dared Hyewon and Yujin to play inside.

"Don't let those people with cameras caught you doing something bad." Her grandfather reminded.

"You're a Kim and a Kwon... If we lose you, we lose the future." Her Dad's mother remarked.

"We already have a lot of problems facing right now, promise me that you won't add up to that." Her aunt always says.

These statements are the reason why Chaewon left Yujin. God knows how much she wants to come back when she realized that her Ahn Daeng Daeng is all alone there... But she just can't. She fears that her family will hate her if she does. She fears that her family will disown her... And no one wants to be disowned.

When they finally found Yujin, the level of guilt that Chaewon felt increased by a million times. Her friend's condition almost shattered. She thought that it's the most painful thing to see. But guess what? The worse is yet to come.

Her Mom and Dad leaving for a business trip are quite normal for the heiress. When she came back home that day, her parents are nowhere to be seen. Their cooks told her that her father helped in finding her friend. She asked where her mother is but the staffs politely replied that they don't know. Tired and exhausted mentally, Chaewon didn't ask further and went directly to her room.

Chaewon balled her fist thinking of the past. That week was hell for her, it's something that will remain in her until her last breath. She can remember the next events vividly.

"D-Dad?" The heiress muttered under her breath.

"C-Chaewon... Chaewon just-"

"Don't go near her!" Eunbi's voice boomed throughout the mansion. She ran to the heiress and pulled her to her side.

"I-Imo!" Chaewon tried to fight back, scared of all that's happening. "W-What are they doing to my Dad?"

"This is not a kid's thing, Ssamu," The Kwon said, glaring at the pleading face of the man while he is being handcuffed. "Go to your room. I'll call you when it's all done."

"B-But Dad-"

"I said go to your room!" Her aunt scolded. Chaewon unwillingly follow, going upstairs while looking at the bunch of men in blue uniform escorting her Dad outside.

After a few hours, the Kwon fetched her, saying that she'll be staying at her house.

"Kim Chaewon, can you stop crying!?" Eunbi shouted in annoyance. Instead of keeping shut, it just made the crying noises louder.

"W-where's my Dad!? My mom!?"

"Don't look for them! And stop creating noise!"

"I want my Mommy! Give me to her! I don't want here! Give me to-"

"Your mother is gone!"

Silence. Her aunt covered , mentally scolding herself.

"W-What? W-What do you mean, Imo?"

Another silence.

"Imo? Eunbi-Imo, please tell me what's happening..."

Eunbi heaved a deep sigh. She sat down on the bed, right beside the little girl.

"Nayoung is gone... Your mother had passed away, Chaewon." The older slowly explained, careful not to shatter the girl's heart completely. "They contacted me earlier this morning to tell me that they found her body near the river."

Chaewon's mouth was left agape. It finally sank into her. She might be young but she understands the meaning of death.

"M-My mom..."

The heiress covered her face with both her hands and cried the whole night. Her aunt, on the other hand, can't do anything to calm her down.

It's her mother. The one who took care of her
