Chapter 11: The Bunny in Blondie’s Wonderland

“Park Hamin wake up.”

Hamin giggled, ignoring the voice that urged her to get up.

The calm, low voice.

She didn’t want to break out of her rather comfortable position: head snuggled on her two arms on top of the soft tablecloth of the banquet tables.

“How much did she drink?” the voice asked again.

“She only had two full glasses of wine; she’s not so good with alcohol in the first place but I don’t know what got into her tonight,” a female’s voice answered. Hamin recognized it. It was Cindy’s.

“Well we better take you ladies home soon,” another male’s voice reached Hamin’s ears. Mr. Kim? She slowly lifted her head. She forced one eye open and was met with a blurry view.

“Park Hamin. You awake?”

Hamin blinked a few times before both her eyes were open and the face now in front of her came into focus. The face that belonged to the man with the low, calm voice.

“Mr. Jung..?” she croaked as broke into a smile.

“Yeah. Can you get up?” Hoseok gently grabbed her arms and tried to stand her up.

“It’s the amazing Mr. Jung!” Hamin began to say as her drooping body fell into Hoseok’s arms. He quickly caught her. She giggled and continued her chant. “It’s the amazingly great Mr. Jung!”

“Wow I’ve never seen Ms. Park like that,” Namjoon said quietly to Cindy, who both stared at what was going on in front of them. Cindy nodded embarrassedly.

“Yeah, she can be quite the child when drunk.”

But what Cindy didn’t know was that Hamin wasn’t simply just child-like when drunk.

She was also dangerous...ly touchy.

The banquet had come to an end, and already most of the guests were trailing out. Several guests came up to the two co-CEOs to thank them and shake their hands, to which they gladly did, and now it had come to the point where the only people remaining in the hall were the workers and the four people who had sat together.

“Hoseok-ah, let’s take these ladies home now shall we?” Namjoon said, making his way towards Hamin leaning on Hoseok. But before he could help take her off of the “amazingly great Mr. Jung,” Hoseok himself bent slightly down and lifted Hamin up into the air, carrying her bridal style.

Namjoon lifted an eyebrow and nodded as he backed up, giving Hoseok room to exit with a fast asleep Hamin now in his arms.

“Well then. Let’s head on out too Ms. Han,” Namjoon gestured towards the exit and winked at Cindy, who nodded and followed him out.

“Shall we call for a ride Mr. Jung?” a security guard outside the building asked. Hoseok shook his head.

“Just get my car out, will you?” he said.

“Yes sir,” the man quickly ran to get the car and another guard came over to offer carrying Hamin instead. Hoseok nearly growled at him to back off but thought better of it and rather politely answered, “Thanks but I’ve got it.”

Soon the car arrived, black as Hoseok’s outfit, and within minutes Hamin laid in the back seat with Cindy seated next to her. Hoseok took the wheel and Namjoon got in the passenger seat...just because he felt awkward to be left alone.

“I’ll call Jimin oppa to let him know we’re coming,” Cindy said as she pulled out her phone.

“Who’s Jimin oppa?” Namjoon asked looking back. Hoseok was also paying attention as his eyebrows furrowed at the word ‘oppa.’

“How many ‘oppas’ does this girl even have?” he muttered under his breath so no one would hear.

“Her brother,” Cindy answered and Namjoon nodded understandingly while Hoseok relaxed.

And before long, Jimin picked up and told Cindy he would be waiting outside, expecting them.

“How did you find the banquet Ms. Han?” Namjoon asked, breaking the silence after a few minutes had passed.

“It was an unforgettable experience,” Cindy praised. Namjoon chuckled.

“That’s an exaggeration I’m sure. But thank you.”

“No, I really want to thank you for inviting us. And for providing us with these expensive dresses. You can’t imagine how excited Hamin and I were just thinking about becoming princesses tonight,” Cindy kept going, her tone lively at the whole thought of what she experienced at Hope’s World’s banquet.

“It really was quite the fairytale experience,” Cindy concluded, her voice now quiet as her smile faded. “And now it’s time to go back to reality. I totally forgot about all the homework I have due tomorrow.”

“Oh no,” Namjoon looked at her in the back. In hopes to cheer things up he continued, “Well I’m glad you had fun, even though you had so much to do.”

“Yeah, it was definitely worth it,” Cindy laughed. Namjoon nodded and wished her luck before another silence followed.

Hoseok grabbed the wheel in complete silence, listening to the conversation going on. He imagined Hamin in her giddy state as she looked like a dream—she was a princess to all who saw her indeed. His lips began to form a smile...until he remembered how drunk she was now.

“Does Park Hamin have classes tomorrow?” he asked and Namjoon looked at him, surprised he would even say anything in the car ride.

“Yeah. I don’t know what she’s going to do when she has morning classes,” Cindy shook her head.

“Just make sure she rests,” Hoseok said and Cindy almost smirked.

“Will do, Jung Sajang-nim,” she said in a high tone, clearly teasing.

“Oh it looks like we’re here. Is that Mr. Park right there?” Namjoon asked, pointing to a figure standing outside Hamin’s home. Cindy narrowed her eyes and nodded enthusiastically.

“Yes it is!”

And as soon as the car stopped, she bolted out and ran towards Jimin.

“Oppa!” she called out. Jimin looked at her wide-eyed and had to catch her from almost tripping.

“Whoa there. Slow down, I’m not going anywhere,” he made sure she caught her balance. Cindy smiled and gave him a hug, to which Jimin tensed. His face grew warm as Cindy mumbled, “I missed you even though it’s only been like a few hours.”

“Did you have fun?” he asked after clearing his throat. Cindy nodded.

“Where’s Hamin?” Jimin wondered aloud, now changing the subject. He tried to look into the car Cindy nearly jumped out of that now had its engine completely turned off. Cindy quickly pulled away from him and ran back to the car, reminded of how her friend was passed out in the back seat.

Jimin watched as she opened the door of the car, trying to ignore the small feeling of disappointment at her arms no longer around him.

Hoseok got out of the car first and walked over to where Cindy was struggling to get her friend out. He reached in and scooped Hamin up, carrying her as she laid her head on his shoulder. Namjoon got out too and only then did Jimin realize what was going on. He ran towards them in panic.

“I’ll take her from here,” Jimin said, extending his arms towards Hoseok. Hoseok tried to give Hamin to Jimin, but couldn’t. Because Hamin’s arms were tightly wrapped around his neck.

And she wouldn’t let go.

“Yah, Park Hamin! Let go now,” Jimin urged, feeling bad and rather embarrassed. He was already in awe of the fact that he was, at the moment, standing before the two co-CEOs of a company he looked up to greatly, but now with his sister being a koala to one of them made him feel quite mortified.

“Leave me alone with my Teddy bear,” Hamin mumbled, tightening her arms around Hoseok’s neck. He coughed, his ears heating up fast. He was glad it was dark out so no one would notice how pink they were turning.

“Um Hamin? That’s not your Teddy, okay? It’s your boss. Let go,” Cindy tried to help but Hamin didn’t budge.

“I’ll just set her down on her bed. Can you lead the way?” Hoseok ended up saying. Cindy and Namjoon’s eyebrows darted upwards, while Jimin nodded rapidly before gesturing towards the front gate of their house.

“Right this way,” he said, walking in.

Hoseok followed with Hamin still in his arms, and he couldn’t help but stare at her face, quite close to his own. His eyes traced her every feature, from her curled eyelashes (he didn’t know she also put on falsies but that’s not so important right now) to her small nose and rosy lips━everything about her looked so beautiful. Hoseok’s heart hammered in his chest.

“You can set her down right here,” Jimin pulled the covers off of a bed that appeared to belong to Hamin. Hoseok gently set Hamin down, and Jimin was ready to place the covers over his sister but Hamin herself didn’t seem to want to let go of Hoseok just yet. Her arms were still around his neck, locked and firm.

“...”

Hoseok didn’t know what to do, with his arms on either side of her, hands on the bed and his body bent awkwardly. It looked as though the girl he carried attempted to carry him too.

“Yah Park Hamin, what’s wrong with you?” Jimin hissed as he grabbed her arms and tried to yank them off of the poor man. But Hoseok couldn’t help but feel a small flutter at the fact that Hamin wasn’t letting go, her light peachy scent filling his nose.

And he didn’t want to admit it but if Jimin wasn’t in the room, he would have stayed.

As dangerous as that sounds.

“Teddy don’t go,” Hamin whined with closed eyes, and it was strange as to how strong she was in her “sleep.” Her drunk habits were definitely kicking in, and it was surprising everyone.

It would probably surprise her too, once she found out what she had been putting Hoseok through.

“What is the matter with this girl?” Jimin wanted to cry out of frustration and embarrassment. He knew his sister had quite the possessive qualities when drunk, but he didn’t know she could be this bad. And just as he was finally able to successfully pull her arms away from Hoseok, Hamin did the unthinkable.

All of a sudden, she had the urge to sit up, and before Hoseok could fully stand back up, her sudden movement caused a collision between her lips and his.

Hoseok froze.

Jimin froze.

The sound of a small peck was loud enough to fill the room.

Then an awkward silence followed.

“Oh my word, I am so so so so so terribly sorry sir,” Jimin began apologizing, his eyes enlarged and his palms waving out. He quickly pushed Hamin away from Hoseok, who also had widened eyes, still frozen and trying to register what had even happened. Hamin fell back on the bed, her eyes closed and lips in a smile. She was still in her drunken haze, and despite her being the cause of two men to be utterly in shock for two different reasons, Hamin herself slept away like there was no tomorrow.

“Teddy…” she mumbled and Jimin was determined to buy her a “Teddy” immediately to shut her up. He looked at Hoseok.

“Sir, I’m so sorry for what just happened. She can be quite the mess when drunk and I just want to apologize again—” he began to rap.

“It’s alright. Just make sure she sleeps well,” Hoseok said, nodding. Jimin looked at him but couldn’t read what was going through Hoseok’s mind at the moment.

“Will do sir,” Jimin nodded back. He quickly escorted Hoseok back outside, to where Namjoon and Cindy were talking. They looked at them.

“Everything good?” Namjoon asked. Hoseok gave him a small nod and got in the car without a word. Cindy glanced at Jimin, who returned the look with a face palm. She raised an eyebrow.

“Well, I guess we’ll be going then. It was a pleasure to meet you...Mr. Park,” Namjoon stretched out his hand. Jimin grabbed it with both hands, bowing.

“The pleasure’s all mine. It’s an honor to finally meet you guys. I really look up to Hope’s World,” he said.

“Oh well we’re flattered. We should have a meal sometime together. Ms. Park is quite the individual and her services are very much needed; it’d be an honor for us to treat her and her brother,” Namjoon smiled. Jimin was baffled at Namjoon’s kindness and bowed again.

“For sure,” he smiled back.

“Alright then. Ms. Han, do you want to get back in the car? We’ll take you home too,” Namjoon looked at Cindy. She smiled and nodded.

“Okay,” she said before turning to Jimin, giving him a small pat on the arm, “I’ll see you oppa. Have a good night and wake up Hamin for class, will you?”

“I’ll take care of her; don’t worry,” Jimin nodded.

And within minutes, the car with now the two co-CEOs of Hope’s World and Cindy Han drove away, leaving a very confused Jimin.

He didn’t know what just happened. He couldn’t believe his first meet with the CEOs of Hope’s World got ruined by his drunk sister and he was disappointed he couldn’t even tell Namjoon he worked for a game company as well. There were so many things he wanted to say to the two men he looked up to more than anyone; and yet, the incident with Hamin and Hoseok made his own face heat up.

“Park Hamin you are so dead in the morning,” he muttered under his breath. He then turned around and walked back into his home. As he went into his sister’s room to whip off her shoes and turn off the lights, a part of him wondered if there was a chance Hoseok liked his sister.

But he soon tossed that thought aside, thinking there was no way a man as great as Jung Hoseok would fall for a baby like his sister.

“Taehyung-ah come quick,” Jimin said to the wall, as his own feet made their way towards his own room.

He was going to call it a night.

A night full of unforgettable events that Park Hamin would probably forget, or not be able to remember.

***

“I have a couple of things to ask you.”

Namjoon set his jacket down and bit into his sandwich one of Hoseok’s maids had made for them. He took a seat in the comfy couches Hoseok’s mansion held in the living room, and Hoseok himself sat down across from him.

“What,” Hoseok reached for a glass of water on the table, also placed by one of his maids. He glanced at the time. It was half past midnight.

Time for bed, but Hoseok knew he would be sleepless tonight.

Because he was Hamin-less tonight.

“How did you become so sentimental? So good at writing moving speeches?” Namjoon asked. Hoseok looked at him in disbelief.

“That’s your question?” he asked back.

“Uh yeah. You were amazing tonight. Tell me, who was it that told you about “the power of stories” huh?” Namjoon teased.

“None of your business.”

“It is my business. That person saved our company and my fellow partner Jung Hoseok. Who could it possibly be?” Namjoon went on. He took another bite of his sandwich.

Hoseok didn’t say anything. He just ran his thumb along the glass of the cup he was holding. Because the person Namjoon asked about was someone he was confused about at the moment. Someone he had an accidental kiss with about an hour ago, and yet someone he had been thinking about for a while now. Someone that wouldn’t get out of his mind, actually for the past few hours.

“Is it Ms. Park?” Namjoon guessed. Hoseok stopped. He lifted his head to look at his highly IQ-ed friend and hated the fact he had guessed so easily.

“I knew it,” Namjoon concluded when Hoseok didn’t say anything again. He finished the last bite of his sandwich.
