Chapter 34
Breaking WallsThe loud alarm irritated Jeonghan greatly he pushed his phone down the bed. After two whole weeks of sleeping in, he couldn’t get himself to wake up as easily as he could. Now the phone was buzzing on the floor, which added to the noise. Jeonghan grumpily took it towards his face to turn it off.
There. All good.
Before he could get back to dreamland, the young omega’s eyes shot open as he realized what he had today - breakfast with his new lover. Hurriedly searching for the lost phone somewhere under the bed, he looked back at the clock and cursed to himself. No wonder he set the alarm so early in the morning.
Jeonghan ran to the bathroom to clean himself.

Nodding awkwardly towards his course mates who somehow looked excited to see him, Jeonghan made his way towards the lecture hall. This was his first class after the incident, and the first time he saw his classmates as well. They looked like they wanted to say something, and Jeonghan inwardly hoped that they shut their mouths. Because he didn’t want to spend the whole day explaining his situation. That would be bothersome.
There was, however, someone he needed to thank. Though he would love to pretend nothing happened, he couldn’t be rude to the person who offered to help even without him asking. And so, spotting the familiar mop of brown hair, Jeonghan made his way to where Nayeon was seated.
‘Hey.’
‘Owh hi! You’re back! You okay?’ Jeonghan nodded, forcing a smile. Minus the time they talked during club meeting, he never actually had a conversation with her. Or any of his classmates for that matter. It was a bit uncomfortable.
‘Listen,’ Jeonghan started, taking a seat beside her so he could talk without raising his voice, ‘that, uh… thanks. For the homework.’
She smiled, her smile so familiar. ‘It’s no biggie.’
‘Yeah.’ He replied. Thinking of how to proceed. Or how to end. This was not something he ever did, ‘And, uh, for the offer. The one you slipped under my door.’
‘Owh, yeah. Glad they caught him so soon.’ Again, Jeonghan nodded. He understood why she was so popular - she was friendly and kind. There was not even a hint of arrogance in her tone, nor any awkwardness. It was warm. Again, familiar.
‘Urm.’ He uttered. Not knowing what to say now. A nod to excuse himself, she added, ‘The seat’s empty.’
Jeonghan turned towards her, ‘if you wanna sit there. I can help you catch up.’
Not wanting to reject the offer as it would make the situation uncomfortable because he would end up seating alone anyway, he sat back down. Nodding. She grinned at him sweetly, and Jeonghan realized why she seemed so familiar – she looked like a bunny.
Just like his Cheol.
And warm, just like Joshua.
Feeling his mouth curved upward, Jeonghan quickly brought out his stationary to pretend to be busy.
‘Are you gonna come watch use perform next week?’ Nayeon suddenly asked, filling in the silence before the professor made her appearance. It caught Jeonghan off-guard, not understanding the reason for the question. Then he remembered he joined the singing club with Joshua a few times. ‘We’re doing acapella at Shining Diamond.’
‘I dunno…’ He answered, reluctant. He only met the members a few times, and though he enjoyed himself all those times, they were not close enough for him to go and show his support. Especially since he hadn’t been there for a while. Probably sensing his hesitance, the female added, ‘Joshua’s singing too.’
‘Owh?’ Now, he was intrigued. He didn’t know Joshua was performing, the man didn’t mention anything about it. But then again, the past few weeks were so intense, the soft-spoken male probably couldn’t find the appropriate timing to do so. Imagine him inviting Jeonghan to his performance while he was bedridden, so wrong.
‘What time?’

Seungcheol was about to return to the back and prepare the cake as his senior asked before feeling a tap on his back. He turned swiftly, not forgetting his professional smile, thinking it was a customer needing something from him. It was a customer though, it was Woo Ri. He relaxed his muscles a bit at the realization, not actually losing his smile. ‘Hi.’
‘Hey.’ She grinned, seemingly excited. It made him wonder what happened for her to act this way. But, as curious as he was, he needed to get back before his senior thinks he was playing hooky. Letting her know he was busy, she nodded in understanding and the young alpha made his way to the kitchen to start decorating the cake.
Once everything was set up, Seungcheol scanned the café briefly to see if he had to clean the tables. Everything was clean enough, so he got behind the counter before noticing his old friend still in her seat, scrolling through her phone. Remembering how she tried to get his attention a few minutes earlier, he turned to the door, noting there was no incoming customers before making his way towards her table. ‘You’re still here?’
Woo Ri sat up straight and put down her phone at once. Then, she felt around in her handbag, all the while smiling at the young male, making him more curious. ‘Stranger 3’s coming out right?’
Seungcheol looked at her, confused. Was it? Though that is his favourite movie, he hadn’t been paying attention lately, or at least the trailer hadn’t come up while he was watching the television to know when it was premiering. Making a mental note to watch the trailer and buying the ticket later, he was about to answer before Woo Ri brought out two tickets and set it on the table.
‘I got the premier tickets from a friend.’ She grinned, pointing at the date. Seungcheol’s eyes widened, knowing how precious those were. He even noted the venue, and it was the largest one in Seoul which meant, the main actors and actress would be watching the premier with them. Swallowing hard, he looked back at her. ‘You…’
‘I know we’re not together and stuff, but we watched the first two together so I feel like it’s only right to watch this with you. I mean, Minah and Seungho will be there!’ She mentioned the two main characters excitedly and Seungcheol bit his lips, feeling really tempted. ‘So are you free? It’s next week!’
The alpha looked back at the ticket, tapping his right leg. All the while, Woo Ri stares at him hopefully. He really wanted it, badly. But, he couldn’t. He just got together with Jeonghan, he couldn’t just go and watch a movie with Woo Ri. Despite only as friends. ‘I- can’t.’
‘Why? You have something on the date? Cancel it! I mean, it’s the premier! Seungie…’ she hummed his name, and Seungcheol sighed. He was sad. Really sad. It had been his dream to meet the two main actors since he first saw the movie. And he had nothing to do on the date but… he just, couldn’t.
‘It’s not a date…’ she added, sensing his hesitance. He sighed, telling her he understood her intention. That was when her face turned solemn, ‘Owh.’
‘I’m sorry.’ He apologized for ruining the mood. He knew he would regret rejecting the offer, but it just didn’t feel right with him, knowing how anxious Jeonghan gets about their relationship.
‘So, you and Yoon Jeonghan?’ He nodded, forcing a smile. It was obvious Woo Ri was disappointed, but she too, forced a smile and put the tickets back in her handbag, replying sassily as she always would, ‘I won’t give this to you, obviously. I’ll find someone to watch with me. Your loss.’
Seungcheol again, apologized, not feeling hurt by the seemingly harsh words. Because that was just how the Woo Ri would act when she is hurt herself. At least, she congratulated him and promised to come again to spo
