“About a thousand years ago, a long and terrifying battle had succeeded in driving out the Shadow Dragon, Tenebr's, and the Emperor of Darkness, who had been wrecking harvoc in the Five Lands. 

Those who have fought in the battle returned to their homelands with their guardians, the auspicious beasts, who have also participated in the battle and succeeded in defeating the Shadow Dragon with their combined powers.

However, the Shadow Dragon was not defeated. It was merely sealed away, and with each century, it slowly regains its powers.

And it's up to a band of outcasts to protect the Five Lands and the Territories Beyond, from the wrath and re-awakening of the Shadow Dragon.
