“She's so ty.” Irene grunted while keeping her notebooks inside her backpack. She was done with her assignments and was just informed by the maids that her father would return back from his trip tonight, which obviously meant fancy family dinner. Irene was happy that she could finally see her father but she didn't quite enjoy it when she was informed that Wendy Son was invited to the dinner as well. It was only her father, mother and her usually but having one more person other than her own sister made her feel pretty weird. Not to add up that it's Wendy, Irene didn't like to be associated with her. “Always smiling and even working at the bar!” Irene grunted while furiously throwing her backpack somewhere else in the room. “That stupid…” Irene muttered along as she heard a knock in her door. “What!?” Irene shouted back when she heard another knock and it pissed off her even more. “It's me, Joohyun.” Mrs. Bae walked inside holding a small box in her hand. “How many times do I have to tell you that it's Irene?” Irene sighed because she was already tired hearing ‘Joohyun’ these days because the name really carried some unforgettable pain. “I like the name Joohyun better than that English name ‘Irene’,” Mrs. Bae said as she settled down on the purple sofa set in the middle the room. “What is it that you want to talk about?” Irene straightly asked because she had to go meet Suho in about 30 minutes but her mother wasn't helping at all. “I just missed you” Mrs. Bae said with a sweet smile. “We live under the same roof in case you forgot.” Irene raised her eyebrows towards her lovely mother. “I got you this” Mrs. Bae kept the box that she was carrying on the small glass round table. Irene walked towards the table and scanned the box which wasn't wrapped or anything, it was some jewelry box of which she didn't care about. “What's the occasion?” Irene asked. “I went out today so I saw this bracelet and thought it would suit you.” Mrs. Bae said with a small smile while comfortably leaning on the couch. Irene took the box and opened it, revealing a shiny silver bracelet which had tiny glittery stars around it, it was beautiful and Irene kind of liked it but she didn't expect the sudden present. Irene never expected anything from others. “It really wasn't necessary, I could've bought it if I needed it, but thank you” Irene replied as she kept a small glance towards her mother and further walked towards the chest of drawers and carefully placed the box in one of them. “I wanted to see you try it on” Mrs. Bae said and Irene just frowned. “I don't want to wear it now” Irene easily ignored her mother’s silence and moved forward in managing her clothes from the closet. “How's Wendy?” Mrs. Bae raised the question because she was really curious about how Wendy is handling her job, she frequently saw her early in the morning waiting for Irene but till now couldn't strike up a conversation because she had tons of work to attend to. Mrs. Bae heard Irene sigh heavily and it was amusing to witness it because Irene getting frustrated over someone rather than clothes was really new. “Is she a bother?” Mrs. Bae asked again, hoping to get a nice elaborated reply from the ice queen, her own daughter. “A lot. I don't want a bodyguard, especially not her. She ruins my mood almost everyday. Why can't we just hire someone else? I don't want to be protected by some girl, especially Wendy Son, there's so much wrong about her.” Irene complained and for some odd reason the image of Wendy from the bar flashed in her mind. “According to your father, she is the best at it. I heard the girl has learned some excessive martial arts focusing on the defense point.” Mrs. Bae informed, she was honestly against a mere girl protecting Irene too but her husband was really persistent which made her curious on why it was so important. She wanted to find out on how Mr. Bae met Wendy Son. “I don't really care about defense classes or martial art. Can you convince dad to fire her or give her some other jobs?” Irene said as she quickly managed her clothes coordinately. She didn't quite make a mess this time. “That's not upto me, she looks alright to me” Mrs. Bae said as she stood up and made her way towards the door, finally taking time to realize that she had a quick meeting in the company. “I'll see you in dinner” “Dad told me that he met that woman on his trip” Irene uttered before Mrs. Bae could walk away. Mrs. Bae turned and looked a stressful Irene, who was holding up her anger and it could be easily seen through her beautiful face. “I know, he told me too. They had lunch together.” Mrs. Bae said and Irene gritted her jaw as she held into her dress tightly. “Is he still smitten by her? I don't understand the fact that he spent his time with her after every misfortune she brought.” Irene vented out. Mrs. Bae chuckled, “It's just lunch, Joohyun. I'm pretty sure your father won't repeat the same mistake.” “That woman is plotting something, she always had some ulterior motive.” “That doesn't change the fact that she's…” Irene snapped her head towards her mother and hissed, “A nuisance” “A petty person who doesn't care about anyone else.” Irene could go on and on with names but she didn't speak any further because she had no interest to remember that woman and her ed up life choices. “I'll see you in dinner, darling” Mrs. Bae softly said as she walked out of the room, closing the door behind. Irene sighed and just sat restlessly on the bed, fed up with everything.
