That Afternoon
That AfternoonRemember when I took you to the bus station one afternoon?
We were walking side by side like always
But that time it felt different as passersby seeing us seem to swoon
We were just walking but closer - hope this happens always.
We're always together
Not being together makes one wonder
That time, we walked like lovers
The silence between us that awkwardness hovers.
That one afternoon changed both of us
I couldn't say anything, but can't make a fuss
We just looked at each other for long, I know it means something
But in the end, we haven't been able to say anything.
That one afternoon that changed our lives
Can I hold your hand? - is what I want to ask
At that time though, it was a difficult task
It's like my tongue was stabbed by several knives.
I wanted to hug you before you go
Wanted to stop you when you entered the bus
When you looked at me with those asking eyes is so...
Feeling that I didn't think it would happen to us.
That afternoon when it all began
We couldn't say a word but our eyes did the asking
Getting into the bus to be with you longer was the plan
But my loving, longing and nervous heart is what I'm masking.
So I just stood there with all my might.<
