It was finally it. The finals. The exams they have to face before going to college. The exams that determine it all. It had started. For the past weeks, Jaehyun and Hayeon haven’t been hanging out much. They mostly just video called each other while studying. Jaehyun would casually explain to her this and that and it was a good excuse for her to tell her parents too.

She knew her parents knew about Jaehyun. It was pretty obvious when his mom was literally bragging about him to her parents. It was their second day of exam and the clock had strike 12 midnight.

“You should go to sleep,” Jaehyun said on the other line. Hayeon stretched herself and nodded. “I guess. Are you going to pick me up again tomorrow?” she asked as she watched Jaehyun doing his work. “Hmm.. on the bike or with the car?”

“Show off.”

He chuckled. “Yes yes. I’ll pick you up in the car so you can read in peace.” he smiled and looked at her through the screen. “I love you.” he blurted out of the sudden making her blush. She was still not used to this kind of Jaehyun. “I love you too..” she said shyly and brought her phone to the bed and plopped down.

“I cant wait to meet your parents and show what kind of a man I am,” Jaehyun said proudly. “Shut up. We haven’t even finish high school. They’re going to be against it..” she sighed and Jaehyun tutted. “I’m serious enough about us. Why would they reject me?”

Hayeon couldn’t help but to laugh. “Jung Jaehyun please~ I’m just scared they will arrange for me. I’ve never actually associates with guys and if I do.. they don’t know…” she remind him. “If they arranged me with someone else.. please save me..” she unconsciously gave the puppy eyes to Jaehyun and he covered his face in embarrassment. “Oh god.. don’t make those eyes to me.” he chuckled. “I would do anything. Anything that I could to make you mine. Cant even stand you talking to cats let alone seeing you being taken by another man,” he pouted.

“Go to sleep. You have papers tomorrow.” 

“Said the person himself. Goodnight love,”

“Goodnight baby.” ‘

3 minutes before the last paper ended and she was anxious about it. She had answered all the questions but she was scared if everything was wrong. Hayeon took a deep breathe and went through the questions again. There were few things that she remembered thanks to Jaehyun. His tutor really helped her this time or maybe because they spent time together so much and stealing kisses in the libra-

“Time’s up..”

The teachers said and the pupils started to put down the pens and closed their papers. Hayeon was panicking but she gave up. She, too, closed the paper and waited for the teachers to collect their papers before they could go out from the room.

Once everyone was out, they started screaming in victory. She could finally breathe. Just when she was about to take another step, a pair of arms wrapped around her body from behind. The familiar scent made her smiled instantly. “We survived,” Jaehyun mumbled pulling her closer to him. She giggled and tapped on his arms. People were watching them and giving looks.

“Wooo finally the couple !!” Jungwoo exclaimed happily, clapping beside them with his group of friends. Jaehyun had no intention to let her go so he just shifted her around so the two of them were facing Jungwoo. “We look good together don’t we?” Jaehyun said proudly, making the girl to bit his arm. He winced and let her go.

“I can see how chaotic your home will be if you guys live together,” Mark spat out a comment that made Jaehyun and Hayeon to look at each other and burst out in laughter. “EWww~” they sang together. Jungwoo sighed. “Sometimes I wonder if you guys are a couple or best friends.”

The bunch started walking out from the school compound and headed to Subway to get their lunch. The house was on Jaehyun. Hayeon was sitting beside Jaehyun in front of Jungwoo while Jaehyun sat across of Mark. They began talking about universities and what not. It was kinda predictable when they all said they wanted to go to the same universities but Hayeon wasnt confident. She wasn’t as smart as them.

Jaehyun nudged her using his shoulder since his hands were dirty. “Come on. I bet my tutor was excellent. I bet your parents would praised me,” he said and took a sip on his coke.

“You’re not gonna meet her parents?” Jungwoo asked. That made Jaehyun quiet for a moment. “Well, he is. That’s why he’s like this,” Hayeon said and gave Jaehyun the look. Jaehyun pouted and finished his sandwich. Mark’s eyes grew bigger in confusion. “Why? What’s wrong with Jaehyun? I thought he’s the coolest kid in town?”

Jaehyun scoffed.

“Him? Cool? Not in front of my parents. We’re going to have dinner with them this weekends and apparently this kid is being all anxious and nervous and clingy and-” Jaehyun stuffed the cookie inside to shut her up. Jungwoo and Mark chuckled and their actions. “I just don’t want to be a bad impression to her family.”

Jungwoo put down his drinks and looked at him. “You’re very serious about this, huh?”

“I must’ve been crazy if I’m not serious about this,”

“Oh god Jaehyun. Shut up,” Hayeon groaned at the side. She knew he was serious and he did mentioned about tying things down early but she was scared. What if one day Jaehyun got bored of her? 

“No. You shut up. What do you know about love..” Jaehyun retorted and that made her put down her sandwich. “Excuse me then what am I doing now? Hating you?”

“Looks like it,” Mark said and earned glares by Jaehyun and Hayeon. “woah okay okay.. sorry..” Mark looked down and awkwardly took a bite on his sandwich. Jaehyun turned to look at Hayeon who was smiling at Mark. “Don’t smile like that. I’m jealous.”

Jungwoo , Mark and Hayeon simultaneously groaned. “Oh gooodd,”

The long awaited day finally came faster than Jaehyun thought. He woke up late that day but it was alright since they’re meeting for a dinner. He informed his mom that he’s going to get a haircut to make him look neat and presentable. He did had a thought of buying a new clothes. Just because..

He entered his car and began to drove to his favourite saloon. He did everything that day. He shaved, he cleaned as clean as possible. To be honest, he had never been this anxious and nervous before. Not even when he took his exams and interviews.

The girl approached Jaehyun when he entered the shop. “Morning,” she greeted with the smile. Jaehyun smiled back and he could the girl’s ears turned shade of pink. “What can I do to you today?” she asked as she lead him to one of the empty seat. Jaehyun took a seat and looked at his reflection in the mirror. “Want to trim my hair. Make it looks neat because..” he couldn’t help but to smile when he said “I’m finally meeting my in-laws,”

At the mentioned of in-laws, the girl stopped smiling and she cleared . Jaehyun noticed the sudden atmosphere changed but he doesn’t mind. In fact, he was proud. “Getting married?” the girl asked as she began to comb his hair. “Soon. Hopefully. This is my first time meeting them..” the girl chuckled as she helped him wore the covers before begin to spray his hair with water. “You look young tho..”

Jaehyun nodded slightly. “graduated high school.” the girl looked surprised. “Really? And you’re thinking about marrying someone? Is this like an arranged marriage?”

“That’s plan b if plan a doesn’t work. We’ve been in love with each other for so long. I don’t want to lose her.” he said and without himself noticing, he was again, smiling from ear to ear. “is it that weird to at least engaged at a young age?” he asked her.

“Not really. Me and boyfriend were also engaged when we were junior in university. We’re going to get married soon too,” she said with a smile and Jaehyun got excited. “Woah~ congrats!” he said.

The two continued to talk about their relationships and Jaehyun got few advice too. He didn’t expect the girl was very friendly. She and her boyfriend had been dating for about 4 years and the boy wanted to tie down with her. Their love story was cute but Jaehyun felt that his was better. Though, of course he didn’t mention it out loud.

When she was drying his hair, Jaehyun took out his phone and checked his messages.

After paying for his hair treatment and haircut, he went to the city to find some new clothes for him and her. He was pretty excited even though he had never actually went to shop for a dress on his own. He entered this one shop that a lot of girls went in and looked around.

He saw a lot of the in trend in the shop which was cute. Thus he knew she doesn’t have to wear something that formal. And it was cold too. She should wear something warm. He grabbed the oversized purpler sweater than came with white shirt and a black ribbon. Then he walked to the men’s section.

Jaehyun wasn’t so sure if he should wear shirt or t-shirt. After few minutes of walking around he decided to go with the formal informal look. He grabbed the white t-shirt and purple shirt and went to the dressing room to test it on.

Feeling confident enough the boy went out to pay.

Hayeon arrived at the restaurant they planned to meet. Her dad was too curious about Jaehyun and so does her mom. Even though her mom already knew about Jaehyun, thanks to Jaehyun’s mom, she was still curious to actually see him in person.

“If he doesn’t meet my expectation, I’m still marrying you off to the boy I told you,” her mom said as they entered the restaurant. She just nodded quietly. It’s not like she doesn’t know that boy. She knew him pretty well but she was 100% sure that she and the guy couldn’t get along at all.

They three of them went to their reserved table and Jaehyun was already there. When he noticed they arrived, he instantly stood up and bowed, greeting them. “Hello Mr. And Mrs. Byun,” he greeted with a smile. Hayeon’s parent smiled back and her dad shook hands with Jaehyun which he replied delightfully.

Jaehyun paired his fashion pretty well and it looked extra good on him. Hayeon took a seat beside him and he whispered, “You look great,” and that made her smiled shyly. Her parents saw what he did and there were slight change of expression in them.

“So this is Jung Jaehyun?” her dad began to initiate the conversation. Jaehyun and Hayeon nodded simultaneously. “The top student in school?” her mom raised and eyebrow. “The one who tutored Hayeon,” he smiled sweetly. Her dad raised an eyebrow at her. “But then her grades didn’t goes as well as I expected her to be though,”

Hayeon was getting anxious. She hated it when they do that; attacking people. Throwing shades. “I wasn’t really focusing during the exam.” she mumbled at the side. Jaehyun just chuckled softly and shook his head. He played it cool even though he was nervous as well. “hopefully better results will be shown for her finals. We studied like crazy. Right , Hayeon?” he shifted his head to look at her who was staring at the plates.

“Yep.” she looked up and nodded. “He helped a lot,”

Her parents looked at the two of them and just smiled it off.

The dinner went out smoothly but they kept on throwing shades to Jaehyun. She was surprised at how coolly he handled the questions. She was so nervous to the point Jaehyun actually had to hold her hands under the table. When they finished their dinner, Jaehyun asked the permission to send her back home himself which actually earned looks from her dad. Hayeon mouthed please and she was excused.

When her parents left the table and the restaurant for good, her head dropped to his shoulder. “I don’t want them to tell me to stay away from you,” she groaned and Jaehyun chuckled. “Do remember we have plan b. it’s okay..” he caressed her arms, comforting her. Hayeon sat back down straightly and looked at him. “I cant believe you’re a great actor,” she chuckled as she took a sip on her drinks.

“I had to. Or else I’ll lose you. Lowkey didn’t expect your dad to throw shades like that. Even! After I said I’m going to inherit my dad’s company. Your old man is a tough one,” he scoffed and raised his hand to order something. She couldn’t help but to laugh. “I know right..” she watched as he ordered some light snacks to be eaten with the red wine. She was a bit nervous to drink. It’s going to be her first time.

“Jaehyun.. you’re driving..” she reminded him and he nodded. “I called Jungwoo to come and drive. He’s at the other cafe waiting for us.” he nodded and drank. Hayeon couldn’t help but to stare at him as he munch down the food. “It’s crazy how we got here. From middle schooler to this..” she lifted up the wine glass. Jaehyun raised and eyebrow and looked at her. “if there weren’t so many people, I would’ve kiss you.” he pinched her cheeks and they both giggled like children.

Jaehyun hold her hands and lifted it closer to his lips and pecked it. “This is cheesy but I cant get enough of you.”

“It is cheesy. So stop it,”

“ughH.. please accept my cheesiness just once,”

“Am I going to deal with this for the rest of my life? I refused,”

“I hate you~!!”
