Can you believe that today's the 2nd anniversary of this fic?????
Well, I can't :'D I had started this as a side project and can't deny how much I started to love it, even thinking about it in my free time...Thank you so much for showing this fic so much love and support. I don't deserve any of your nice and kind words ;-;
I know that the updates are very slow and that I get better but I'm having so much stress lately and I don't want to associate writing with a obligation...I hope that you'll forgive me and still stay at my side. <3

“Ten hyung, can I hug you?” Xiaojun was standing in front of the huddled and scared cat hybrid, leaving enough space between them. Kun smiled lightly, seeing how thoughtful his oldest hybrid was. YangYang and Chenle, whom he was holding back, started to whine, also wanting to hug their hyung. Xiaojun’s shoulders dropped the longer Ten just stared at him, not answering his question. He was about to shed a tear, when his hyung slowly nodded, sitting up straight, in order to embrace the young boy. Said boy could feel how his hyung was shaking lightly, so, he tightened his hold as much as his short arms allowed him, knowing that it will calm him down. Ten let out a shaky breath, before he closed his eyes and let his bottled-up emotions out.
“Hyung, don’t cry!” Chenle freed himself from Kun’s grasp and ran towards Ten, throwing himself at them. The cat hybrid quickly opened his arm to catch the young boy. It didn’t take long before Renjun and YangYang were joining them in the group hug, giving Ten all their love and support.
“Thank you.” Ten’s eyes were glistening with tears but he also felt like he could breathe again. His instincts were still on high alert but his mind has stopped screaming at him to run away.
“Hyung, don’t be sad, please. Mark will be so happy that you’re back.”
“Renjun, that’s enough for now. Let’s ask Ten first whether he wants to eat and drink something, right? We didn’t close up yet, so, you’re still working!” Kun smiled at his little hybrids as they quickly got up and brushed the non-existent dust from their aprons.
“Ge is right! Ten hyung what do you want to eat? Don’t worry it’s free for you!”, YangYang assured after taking his note pad out, ready to scribble something unreadable on it.
“I…I’ll just take a green tea and blue berry muffin, if it’s ok.” Ten was avoiding looking at Kun’s face, not wanting to annoy the man.
“That’s Mark’s favorite! I’ll get you as many as you want!” Jungwoo’s voice cut through the silent room, startling the cat hybrid. He knew that Kun had stopped him from getting near him and he was incredibly thankful for it.
“Go and help Jungwoo, kids!” Nodding, the boys scurried away, ready to prepare everything for their beloved hyung.
“Ten, I hope it’s ok that I told the others that you’re here. Don’t worry, nobody will come now!” Kun added quickly after he saw how Ten glanced at the door, ready to bolt away. He took a deep breath and nodded once, showing the kind man that it was alright.
“Ten hyung, thank you for coming here and thank you for letting Hendery find you.” Ten stared at Jaehyun, noticing that those were the first words the younger had said to him that evening. His eyes stung at the sight of the handsome boy. He was a close friend of his family and he still wasn’t mad at Ten for running away and causing problems?
“Yes hyung, thank you very much. We really want to help you, can you let us do that?” Hendery wasn’t looking directly at him, giving him the chance to decide for himself. He was still scared, yes, but at the same time, he didn’t want to worry them more than he was already. So, he nodded reluctantly and tried to smile.
“Ok, great. You’ll stay at Hendery’s and Jaehyun’s place, right?” Ten shivered slightly but tried to suppress the voices in his head. Those two boys had always been nothing but supporting and accepting, how could he say no to their generous offer?
“Y-yes. Thank you again.” He sent a tight-lipped smile at the boy’s direction without actually looking at them. The noises in the kitchen got louder and louder every passing second, signalizing Ten that the boys were about to come back. True to his thoughts, the boys burst into the room, their little hands filled with trays full of food.
“Careful, boys!” Kun rushed to their sides and stopped Chenle from spilling everything on the ground. Hendery and Jaehyun also helped the boys to reach their hyung without any accidents.
“Thank you so much! But this is too much for me. Please let’s eat together.” Ten’s quiet voice reached the little hybrids’ sensitive ears who quickly nodded and took their places next to their hyung.
“Here, you have to taste this!”
“Hyung, this is so delicious.”
“CHOCOLATEEEE!”
“YangYang stop stealing my muffin!”
“Kun ge, Renjun kicked me!”
Ten watched the boys with big eyes, feeling a bit overwhelmed, but a smile still crept on his face at the sight of their messy faces.
“Oh lord, please help me.” Hendery’s giggle at Kun’s misery surprised the cat hybrid. Catching Ten’s gaze, Hendery stopped laughing and blushed heavily. A ringtone brought the cat’s mind back to earth and he quickly looked away, embarrassed by his own acts.
“Uhm, hi hyung.” Jaehyun walked behind the counter, away from the curious looks of the others.
“Ok boys, we need to clean up and go home. Your bedtime is nearing!” The boys groaned simultaneously and tried to argue but Kun’s gaze stopped them. “I bet Ten’s tired, too!” The hybrids nodded reluctantly and started to pile the dirty dishes up. Their ge helped them, took everything to the kitchen and gave Jungwoo his set of keys.
“We’ll go first, please make sure to lock everything up and to be prompt for your shift tomorrow.” He then turned to Ten and gave him a big smile. “Good night, Ten. It’s great to have you back! Please feel free to call me, if you need anything.” Said hybrid only nodded thankfully and gave each hybrid a big hug.
“Uhm, Ten hyung…” Jaehyun was watching the floor uneasily, worried that he might scare him away. “Would-… would it be ok for you to talk to Mark? He really wants to hear your voice.” The cat hybrid watched him with wide eyes, not sure why his heart sped up. He gulped audibly and nodded, reaching out for the phone. He was kind of scared to talk to his favorite boy, fearing that he had disappointed him but that didn’t stop him from doing it. Mark’s wishes were more important than his, at least to him they were. If he wanted to talk, who was Ten to deny?
“Hyung?” A sob filled Ten’s ears as soon as he uttered his greeting.
“Hey Markie, don’t cry.” He cleared his throat to get rid of his breathy voice, “I’m alright. Jaehyun and Hendery are here with me. How are you?” The cat couldn’t stop himself from babbling, hoping to calm the boy down.
“I-I’m good. H-hyung, I’m so-sorry!“ Mark hiccupped between his words, making it difficult to understand him. Ten pressed his forearm on his eyes to prevent the tears from flooding.
“I-It’s not your fault, Markie. I love you so much and I’m very sorry for worrying you. Mark, please stop crying, ok? I’ll be sad, too. I-“
“Hyung, don’t be sad! I was just scared that I wouldn’t see you anymore. Dad said that you’ll stay with Jaehyunnie hyung. Can I visit you? I can pack my bag and come and sleep over!” Ten watched the boys with his big, teary eyes, not knowing what to say. Yes, he wanted to see Mark and to sleep holding him in his arms but he didn’t want to face Johnny now. He was still scared and regretted his actions bitterly. How could he look at his face again? Ten had assumed that the father would punish him yesterday, even though he never did anything to him! The family was so nice, they gave him a loving home, accepted him with their open arms and Ten still thought bad about them. He wished he could claw those negative thoughts and loud voices out of his brain. He wanted to trust them fully but he wasn’t able to do that. He was broken, a useless hybrid who couldn’t even stay with the people who loved him.
“Mark, that’s enough. Remember what I said earlier? Don’t push your hyung. He will let us know when he’s ready to see you, ok? Please tell him that I’m sorry and that I love him dearly. Wait, don’t say that. I don’t want to scare him more. Tell him that we’ll wait for him. He can take as much time as he wants, we will wait.” Johnny was whispering next to his son, forgetting that his words would reach the cat’s delicate ears. Ten clutched the phone tighter, pressing it more against his temple. It didn’t matter how much he was scared of Johnny, his voice had a calming effect on him. For a fraction of a second, he felt like he was embraced by the father son duo. Ten took a deep breath and tried to stop his fingers from shaking.
“Markie, I’m very tired now and I will go to bed soon. B-but can I call you tomorrow? M-maybe we can meet then?”
“Tell him to take all the time he needs! We’ll wait.”
“Ok, hyung don’t worry! Take your time, we’re not going anywhere. But tell Jaehyunnie and Hendery hyung that they’re not allowed to cuddle with you!!!” An airless laughter left Ten’s lips at Mark’s annoyed huff.
“You’re the only one I want to cuddle with, Markie. Don’t worry. I love you very much, don’t forget that, ok?”
“I love you more, hyung! Good night and sleep tight!”
“Thanks Mark…and thank you, Johnny.” Ten whispered at the end and abruptly ended the call.
Jaehyun and Hendery were trying to act as if they didn’t eavesdrop but failed miserably.
“Jungwoo, can you take care of the rest? We should get going.” The dog hybrid smiled brightly from his place behind the counter.
“No problem! Take care and see you tomorrow!” He was watching Ten with gleaming eyes but didn’t cross the line by nearing him. The cat knew how disappointing it was for a dog hybrid to deny them any kinds of display of affection. So, he was very thankful for his understanding.
“Good night, Jungwoo.” He waved at Jungwoo as a thank you and stood between Hendery and Jaehyun, ready to leave the café. It was just around 9 pm, causing the streets to still be filled with different kinds of people. Out of fear, he grasped the back of Hendery’s shirt and tried to keep the boy nearby.
“I will walk closely to you, is that ok?” Jaehyun asked and waited Ten to answer. He could feel how the cat started to panicking and he didn’t want to push his nerves further. To his surprise, Ten quickly nodded and wrapped his elegant tail around Jaehyun’s wrist. Luckily, the two boys were tall enough to shield the cat from everybody’s sight. Their prayers seemed to be heard since the short train ride was also passed without any incidents.
“Welcome to our small apartment, hyung.” Hendery opened the door with his keys and Ten dropped his tensed shoulders. He stopped his fingers from griping his shirt in a deadly manner and started to look around.
“Please feel at home! You can take my room, I’ll sleep on the couch.” Jaehyun tried to move away but Ten’s tail held him in place. Embarrassed, Ten let him free but shook his head quickly.
“Please stay in your room, I’ll sleep on the couch instead.”
“But hyung, you’re our guest! We should-“ Jaehyun stopped Hendery before the boy could end his sentence.
“We should accept Ten hyung’s wishes.” Hendery quickly understood what his friend was intended and nodded.
“Ok, hyung. I’ll bring you a pillow and blankets.”
“Thank you.” Jaehyun gave him a dimpled smile and for the first time that night he felt kind of relieved that he had decided to step out of his hideout.

Around the same time, there was Johnny lying awake in his bed with his son at his left side. His hand was nestled in his son’s hair, raking through his strands.
“Thank you, Johnny.” Ten’s quiet voice was still hunting him, not allowing him to get a second of sleep. The hybrid had the purest heart he had ever witnessed. Johnny didn’t know what he had done to deserve such a precious human being in his miserable life.
“I promise that I’ll bring you back home, my lovely Tennie.”
