"Sweetheart, Wake up."

Eunhee felt herself being slightly shaken. She opened her eyes and saw a man smiling at her. Oh, that's right. He's not just a man. He is her long lost father. Well, her long lost father since about three months ago.

"We're here." Minwoo said. "Welcome to New York!"

Eunhee stretched as she removed the fleece blanket that was draped on her. She was sleeping on one of the sofa beds at the end of the plane, Mrs. Kim- Mama- was sitting on the recliner closing the book that she was previously reading. Secretary Choi, Papa's secretary was on the phone the minute the plane landed. The Kims flew to New York via a private jet. Eunhee looked in astonishment when she first saw it, she was used to fly first class when she was with her adoptive family before, but never has she been on a private jet.

Papa laughed when she asked if they owned the plane. He said that it is owned by a good friend. The Kims do not see the need for a private plane as they were permanently based in New York. They only fly back to Seoul and Shanghai once or twice a year. Papa just thought that Eunhee would be more comfortable if they fly private, so he asked his friend for a favor. They apparently own East Asia Airlines, one of the biggest airlines in Asia.

It's not Eunhee's first time outside of Korea of course. She has already toured America and Europe before with her adoptive family, and they are frequently in Hong Kong and Japan for vacation. The thought that she had been in the same city as her real father just two years ago made Eunhee shiver.

What could have happened if he saw me before?

Eunhee was led through immigration and outside to the arrivals area at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The place was bustling with people, greeting family members who arrived, car services looking for the tourists that they are supposed to drive, lovers reuniting, little children running around.

This is it. New city, new life. This will be the start of a brand new Kim Eunhee- I mean, Emily Kim. I am legally taking that name now. I am Emily Kim, a fourth generation daughter of Daesan Financial, the long lost daughter of Kim Minwoo and Han Sichun, and sister of Michael Kim. I have decided to leave everything behind in Korea. I won't think about my life as past Kim Eunhee anymore. You can do this Emily, I believe in-

"Hey! Get out of the way!" A rushing man angrily scolded her. "Damn foreigners."

How rude.

"Emily, darling!" Mama called from behind. "Here!" She waved. "I thought we lost you there. This is our chauffeur, Linus." She gestured at a young man who bowed at her. "You can give him your suitcase, and he'll load it in the car." Eunhee only has one small luggage. It contains some of halmeoni's stuff and some clothes. All her other things were left at Busan.

The car ride to the Kim's house at Manhattan's Upper West Side was lively. Papa and Mama kept on telling her landmarks and important places. Where she should eat, where she could shop, the best cafés downtown. Eunhee enjoyed their trip, it was like a mini tour, but the points of interest are the places where they frequent at.

They arrived at a four storey brownstone townhouse near Central Park. It's not as big as what used to be her house in Hannam-dong, but Eunhee can already feel the grandeur of the house. There was a stairway leading to the front. And Sichun beckoned Eunhee inside. She was welcomed by a grandstaircase, on the left side was a sitting room for guests. The entryway was illuminated by a beautiful french chandelier. It was like she was walking inside one of those luxury hotels in Europe.

"Grand, isn't it?" Sichun asked the girl. "This house was built in the 1890s, then it was remodeled during the early 2000s by my father Han Wei. He restored it to its original oak and mahogany architecture and added the huge french windows and art deco bathrooms. The chandeliers are handmade Swarovski and were presents from your grandfather, Kim Minhyuk, when we moved here. We have 6 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a sitting room, a kitchen, my library, your father's office, and of course the backyard. Our parents bought this house as a gift for us, when we said that we wanted to move to New York and handle the business here almost ten years ago. They said that the great American Financier Bernard Baruch once lived here and they had hoped that your father will be a great financier too."

And he is. During the last week that she got to know her real family, she found out the great influence that his father and grandfather have in the Financial Markets. Her grandfather, Kim Minhyuk, inherited one of the biggest banks in Korea post WWII, and he expanded it to other parts of Asia by establishing more banks, insurance companies, and investment firms under their name. Her father, Kim Minwoo, was the one who brought the business to North America and Europe. This move was quite risky, but it all paid off now that Daesan is the fifth largest financial services company in the world.

Their family, however, is hidden from the public. The Kims and the Hans and most of the other old money Asian families often hide behind the shadows. Because they wanted to live their life away from the prying eyes of the media.

"Michael! Michael!" Sichun called out. "We're home, darling."

There was no answer.

"Cora, have you seen Michael? Did he go out? I told him that he should stay at home to welcome his sister." Sichun said calling one of their helpers.

"The young master went out, Madame." The woman said looking down. "He didn't tell us when he would arrive."

"Oh."

Eunhee was disappointed. She really wanted to meet her brother, but what bothers her more is that he went out on her first day at the house. As much as she did not want to say it, she thinks that he is not quite fond of the the idea of having her live with them.

The front door opened and in came a young man. He was about Kyungsoo oppa's height, but his built is bigger. He was wearing dark jeans, a Rolling Stones shirt, and a black leather jacket. His hair is dyed blonde and one of his ears is pierced. Eunhee was quite surprised that despite his outfit, he has dumpling like cheeks, and thin but pouty lips. He almost looked cherubic, if not for his cat-like eyes that are looking at Eunhee coldly.

"Michael, You're home!" Sichun exclaimed. "Come and greet your little sister. Emily, this is your big brother Michael."

"Hi." Eunhee shyly bowed. She doesn't know how to address him. Should she call him 'oppa'? He might not like that, he was not raised in Korea afterall.

Her brother just looked at her from head-to-toe and walked past her. He glared at Minwoo then proceeded to go upstairs.

"Wash up and prepare. We will be having dinner to welcome your sister." Minwoo ordered.

"I'm going out. Luhan and Jongdae are in town." The young man-her brother-answered.

"Michael! I already told you we are having dinner. You can go out with Jason and Luhan next time." Sichun said disapprovingly. "Your sister was excited to meet you, don't you want to talk to her?"

"I don't have a sister." He said and continued to walk upstairs.

"KIM MINSEOK!" Minwoo's voice boomed. "You will stay at this house. You will eat with us. And you will welcome your sister."

Minseok stopped and glared at his father again. "Fine!"

Dinner was awkward, to say the least. Minwoo was telling Eunhee to taste every dish that is being served, Eunhee was just eating, Sichun was trying to lighten up the atmosphere by telling stories, and Minseok was either glaring at his food, at Eunhee or at his father.

"He may look like those rock-and-roll rebels by the way that he is dressed, but Michael is actually a top student at school. He has been in the Dean's List of NYU Stern for the past two years and he is on his way to make it three this school year. Right, honey?" Sichun asked Minseok.

The boy just grunted.

"How about you, Emily?" asked Minwoo. "How were you faring in school?"

Minseok snickered. "She doesn't look that bright."

So this is how he wants to play it huh?

"Actually I was consistently on the top 2 at my school. I was given the President's Award in Math when I was in first year high school, considered as the best orator in our year, can speak three languages fluently, can play the piano and the flute, was my school's ace tennis player, and was the student council secretary." She said looking at Minseok fiercely.

"And you think that all your achievements in a public school in Busan is going to fare here in New York?" Minseok said mockingly.

"Not that there is anything wrong with studying at a public school, but the achievements that I have listed are actually from when I was studying at Shinhwa High School. One of the most exclusive high schools in Seoul. Of course, I studied there before my car accident and when I was still unaware that I was switched with another girl who lied that I hurt her which then led to my foster parents kicking me out. Then I went with my real grandmother and ex-convict uncle to Busan where I had to work while in school and where my grandmother died. Oh, and not to forget, I got beaten almost everyday by my good for nothing uncle and he tried to sell me to gangsters." Eunhee didn't know what led her to blurt out everything. She thinks she was frustrated by the way that he was belittling her, and she wanted to show him that she was as good as him. But it backfired when she let her emotions get the better of her.

The table was now quiet and everyone stopped eating. "Apologies that I ruined the moo
